Cosplaying Costumes

This thread is where you say what costumes you plan on making and what you've already got.

Right now I'm working on two, a Van from Escaflowne including his wings and a Unit-01 out of sheet metal. (It looks good so far but I'm waiting on an order for a special purple duct tape to arrive. 6-8 week for delivery)

Sort of, it's not quite finished my sister is going to get me the gem I need and I'm having a little trouble on the hilt. The wings are going quite well although I don't want to put the feathers on until close to the event just incase they start to come off. Unlike Van my feathers can't keep coming off and yet never seem to be missing.

For Otakon I plan on doing Maxima from The King of Fighters and Wiseman from Xenogears. I will probably also be doing maybe one more costume, but that is up in the air at the momment. Mainly cause I don't know who I want to do.

At Anime North I plan on being there for at least two days so I may take both my Unit-01 and my Van costumes although walking around all day with sheet metal on or large wings will probably be annoying...

If I ever have the money or time for going to an anime convention I'd most likely cosplay as Touya from Ayashi No Ceres. Got the hair, style and persona. =P

. . . Actually, any character that has a formal attire would fit my wardrobe.

I cosplayed as boy type Ranma awhile back for AX'02 and that's the only time I've cosplayed.

I plan on cosplaying as Jet Enduro from Wild Arms 3. I can make the costume easily, but I need to make the gun as well as a bandoleer(sp?) for my bullets.

If funds would allow either Saitou (shinsen-style) or Hiko - or any character that has similar shaped heads and long dark hair.

Gene from Outlaw star is a consideration but I dont really wanna cut my hair.

I hope to cosplay as either Saitou from Kenshin or as Vash from Trigun. I know where I can get Vash's sunglasses from, but that's about all. The Shinsengumi costume should be pretty easy to make, and I've seen some on Ebay before too.

For a two day/one night convention in Melbourne, I am cosplaying 3 times. One is still undecided, it was a group cosplay and someone pulled out, but I was going as Alucard. Second day is to be kept a secret by order of Dim-chan (Bakashinji is the only one that knows besides the actual cosplayers). For the karaoke night I am going as Daisuke from DNAngel.

Got any ideas for who I should cosplay as on the first day?

Anyone out there have some large teeth they'd be willing to send me (Preferably not your own). I need them to finish my Unit-01 costume. They need to be about twice the size of normal teeth and not necessarily real, they just need to look real.

i've been wanting to make GIR (as robot) costume from invader zim for some time now. i hope to get around to it in time for otakon this year.

is anyone else interested in doing zim characters for otakon? it would be cool to have multiple characters together. doubt they'd let it into the cosplay, though, as zim's not japanese :P

there was a professor membrane and a dib at katsucon last year. plus there's been someone as GIR in the dog costume that i've seen at the last two katsucons.

Anyone got oversized teeth? I'm still looking. I may have to make ever larger molds out of my wisdom teeth which I keep in a little jar of milk in my mini-fridge. Please don't make come down to that.

I'm planning to be Isabella from Paradise Kiss for Anime Expo 2006.

So far, I've decided on the outfit and started getting into shape so I don't have a shapeless collar, flabby arms, or an expansive waist to worry about when I start making it. The making of the dress is gonna come when I arrive back home from college, sometime in May.

This year I am going to my second convention, I went to my first about four years ago. For one off the days I dressed up as Jessie from Team rocket, ahem Pokemon. It was an okay costume, okay rather kind of crappy, I threw it together the night before but it was lots of fun, and I got lots of people comming up to me. I was told that if I had made the R symbol better and had a wig I would have rocked..

Anyways this year I am going to go as Lucy/Nyu from Elfen Lied when I go to Anime Evolution 2006 in August. I pretty much will be wearing the little black dress outfit she wears in the last three eppy's or soo. So far I have the dress, the pink short sleeve top, the light greyish/white cat ears, ahem horns, I also have ordered a long pink wig. I went for a long pink wig instead of a short one, because I am thinking off doing a Wedding Peach costume as well but proabably for next year. Depends if I can get a costume together. All I really need is the shoes, I believe they are red and a red ribbion/sash thing she wears around her neck. I am not going to wear the thigh high socks because well, august is hot enough.

I might also goes as Kirkira from Noir, I have the army pant and blue tank top outfit she wears. But I am having problems finding a toy gun that would be small enough for her and fit the cosplay weapon rules. It also depends on weither or not I can afford another wig. My hair will be too long and I do not want to cut it, since I am growing it out, so yes I will need another wig. Also if I can throw the wedding peach costume together in time, then I will go as her instead of Kirkira.

I am going to AE 2006 for all three days, but I want to go as me for one of the days. Or at the most just wear my normal clothes with the pink wig, and these really cute Fruit basket barrettes I found and bought.

I don't think I will do an actual skit though, it still fun to be in costume though.

No. Only about 1/2 of the people I've seen at cons cosplay. There are some who dress up weird but not really cosplay, and a lot who just wear anime t-shirts and the like. Cosplaying is fun, but it isn't for everyone, as there is money and commintment involved in it.

There are normally a decent amount of Sailormoon cosplayers at any con, though I've seen very few Black Ladies, so you may be able to get a spot.

As far as costuming goes, her outfit's a bit different, so it's not something you'd really be able to piece together from clothes you buy. If you have some sewing talents, it would be possibly to make yourself by altering a long black dress, but it may be better to order from a seamstress who specilizes in this kind of thing, if you have the time to place an order and have it made and delivered anyway. When is the con you'll be attending?

Thanks for the advice Mana, that's very kind of you. I am actually going to go as Mistress 9 instead (sailormoon s villian). My mom is going to make the costume for me. I am just going to have to get a long black wig.

I realised after looking into getting her wig commisoned that it would cost way to much to go as wickedlady. So yes mistress 9 it is. Thanks again for your imput.

Im not really a fan of cosplay, but a costume that i really like is from last exile, Alex, that dude looks really cool, like he doesnt care for anything. I have seen this costume on people, and this is the only one that i could use.
