Title: Ayane's High Kick
Genre: Action
Company: U.S. Manga
Format: 2 episodes

Summary: High school student, Ayane Mitsui, is a wrestler-wannabe and has the failure auditions to prove it. But one day everything changes when she is tricked into becoming a kickboxer by her supposed "coach", Kunimitsu

Grade: 78%

Highs: Fun story, Interesting characters, Awesome soundtrack
Lows: Discontinued/No real ending, outdated animation

Review: Normally, I'm not one for sports or action flicks. I sit there, potato chips in hand, waiting for the credits. However, when my brother put in Ayane's High Kick, I was hooked! The thrilling battle against the vice principle and her often heated discussions with her coach, I couldn't help but anxiously grip the back of my seat until she had won her first victory! I had never seen such raw intensity in the anime world!
Putting aside the outdated animation, the voice casting was impeccable and truly fit the characters. Even though there were choppy scenes, they were really able to pull through the emotion perfect for the moment. Another thing that helped the story move along was the incredible music. For instance, when Ayane met Kunimitsu for the first time, the music really helped influence the scene and made me think that he was a sexual predator (that was what ayane believed him to be in the beginning).
Finally, the anime's major downfall: the ending. There was no real, concrete ending to the show. It had teasers at the end of the second episode, making me believe there would be more. There wasn't. Ayane's High Kick was sadly discontinued and left me feeling unsatisfied. I only wish there would have been more.

I'll go straight to the point.

The first apparent thing I notice about the review is the length; it's too short. True, the OVA is only 2 episodes long after all so there isn't really much material for you to elaborate on in the first place. Still, the length for a review is important so as to distinguish itself from, say, an ordinary blog entry. Consider the length first heavily because keeping it too short will leave readers unsatisfied about what they want to know about this anime and what you think about it.

Another thing I want to point out is the constructiveness of the review. The first three sentences have nothing to do with the anime or the review itself. A review may have some connotations of what the reviewers feels for a title but don't overlook the fact that a review still must deliver its message objectively. Also, keep in mind about paragraphing because it will help segregate the content more professionally while keeping it concise.

The review also contains a number of incoherent phrases. Keep them to a minimum because they only help the fill up the review with bombastic yet shallows comments without actually commenting on the anime itself. It's like a cake where most of it is just cream and you therefore will only get a layer of the actual cake. I see some attempts at describing the anime, which are good. Go deeper with details about the anime and not the content (i.e. cut out bits and pieces of the storyline).

Continue to write more reviews and keep in mind of the advice. I know that it's easier to review titles that you like, but try to explore on the ones that you don't like. You'll find out that reviewing them is a little harder.

Thank you soooo much for the advice! ^-^ perhaps next time i will review...Excel Saga. lol But it meant a lot that you even put the word "good" somewhere in your critque (sp?). I think I have improved since my last review and I hope I can keep on progressing!
