I'm new here pretty much, but I noticed that while I wanted to look for a nice, short comedy to lighten up some of the serious anime I've been watching, and didn't see a "Sort by Genre" tab. I think this would be a nice addition, and make it easier to find the anime you're looking for.

I imagine it would be like this (if you don't know what I'm getting at):

>Sort by Title
>Sort by Grade
>Sort by Genre
>Comedy
>Romance
>Action
>Drama
>Sort by Format
>Sort by Professor

If they are two, such as Comedy/Action they would be under both.

Edit: If this is the wrong forum, I guessed this because it had to do with the library. Sorry!

That's a really cool idea. It would be a lot of work for Mugs (or whoever) to retrofit the entire library, but after that it would probably be easy enough.

(I say this with absolutely no knowledge of how it would have to be done).

In any case, it's a feature I would definitely use.

I doubt it will be too hard, I've had some experience with HTML and CSS, ect. I'd guess he uses Dreamweaver or something though, because of the page source. Most of the work would be listing all of the anime, ect.

It's a great idea, no doubt about that, the problem with it is not the difficulty of coding it all but whether Mugs would actually have the time to do it. There are a couple of Library tweaks in the works already.

In the mean time, if you want to find genre-specific anime, use them as a keyword in the search function.

I remember making the same suggestion to which Kain replied, "soon".

...this was over a year ago. Hehe.

Other suggestions offered. I particularly like 2-20's idea about 'sort by year'. (http://www.animeacademy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21676&highlight=suggestion)

Soon is relative! Here try a beta http://www.animeacademy.com/libgenaction.php the only thing with genre stuff is that.. well see for yourself there are a billion action things not that useful IMO but hey whatever. Oh and dates ARE being worked on, problem there is the old reviews weren't in a database and are thus NOT timestamped. This makes putting a date a pain in the ass of checking ALL the old updates to see what went up when.
