So what did everyone do these few weeks without the AA?
I was in Japan/Korea the whole time. When I tried visiting the site and found that I couldn't, I merely thought that maybe asian countries blocked the site for some reason (yeah, stupid to think like that, but whatever). I really didn't care to think of any other reason, because coincidentally, AA was shut down the day I left America and was brought back one day after I came back. I only found out the site itself was down yesterday, after reading a message on ANN from Kain. Which means I didn't miss anything at all while I was away, I guess.
Oh well...good to be back?

Holy poo poo, so we are.
I suffered from severe AA withdrawal. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, I couldn't do anything, I just stayed in my room shivering in the corner, banging the back of my head against the wall and babbling nonsense.

Same here. I thought for a moment that the AA staff banned my IP address for a wrong reason or something, so that I couldn't even access the site. After checking from a different house, I realized that was not the case.
It wasn't that bad of an experience with the site being down, but often I would click on the AA link of my favourites list as a force of habit, to find an ugly blank screen with an error message. At least all of the One Piece that I was watching had filled the void.

I got a new laptop the day AA went down, and when I got online, this was the first place I went...to get a white screen saying "forbidden". I thought I got a malfunctioning computer. But when I checked from a friend's house and it happened again, I thought I might have been banned for whatever reason. I wanted to ask someone if AA was down, but I didn't want them to say "No." and have me looking like an idiot, so I was just kinda waiting...
Glad it's back. One more place to go when I'm oh so bored (aka procrastinating ).

so it was a money problem?
Nah, between the staff members there's plenty of money going around; if that were the problem the AA would've been back up ages ago. It's got to do with an expired credit card, chasing up the actual problem and figuring out how to resolve it, organising who's in charge of what, blah blah blah blah, stuff that generally takes time.
All I can really say is SORRY! We missed the Academy just as much as you guys did.
Back when I was a regular forum-goer I had the same worries I'm guessing most of everyone else had, but now that I have behind-the-scenes-access I can assure you all that is AA is very much alive and that those on active staff really care about what's happening. There's plenty to look forward to: the Tak Tak report is coming up, there's the FCUK-OFF-HUEG contest I've got planned, plus a few goodies yet-to-be-revealed. We're long from dead! :D

You know... I remembered how cruel I was to Anime Academy, when I wouldn't feed him or let him outside when needed. I used to sit back and let him bark at me when I was busy playing video games or watching the occasional movie, as I had become a lazy man after being around him for so long.
In an act of desperate rage to my neglect, Anime Academy bit my hand when I reached out to him like I always did, growled at me, and ran outside the door the minute he had a chance. Realizing that I could've treated him better, I sat back in lament of my old friend's absence and vegetated in the meantime, contemplating why I couldn't have been more considerate to his needs.
Then, I ate some cheetos and played Streets of Rage 2 for the longest time.
And before I knew it, Anime Academy came back to me. :D
THE END
Don't worry, I'm just kidding around, I did read the entire thread just so you guys know.

Am I a terrible person for finding it hilarious that so many people thought they were banned?
Not at all, I thought it was pretty funny, too.
Just to be clear: We can't ban you from visiting the main site (technically we could, but the site as it is isn't set up that way), only the forums. And even with a forums ban, you can still see the pages, you just can't log in with your account, or with your IP. Even if we could ban people from the front page, you wouldn't get a 403 error, as that is a rather specific code.
It was nice to have some talk in the AA IRC, though.
In order to access IRC you need an IRC client, like mIRC (http://www.mirc.com/). Apparently they want you to pay for mIRC now, but last time I used it, you could still use the program after the 30 days, you just had to click a box saying "pay later" or whatever every time you open the program. I'm sure there are free programs out there, too.
The IRC client will want you to connect to a server. Our server is irc2.othersideirc.net To connect, either paste that link into a box that asks for a server or type "/server irc2.othersideirc.net" into an open window. Once connected to the server, join channel "#aa" by putting that into a box that asks for a channel, or by typing "/join #aa" into your server window.
WARNING: #aa on the IRC is outside the scope and realm of the forums. Join at your own risk. #aa is an open channel, and is therefore visited by people who have been banned on the forums or who aren't even a part of the forums currently. It is not actvely moderated most of the time, and even then, the rules (if any) are much different. Enter at your own risk.
