New York Gets its Con Back On

Sure it may not be BAAF. Sure it may not be in the summer. But I'm just glad my backyard finally gets an anime convention this year.

New York Anime Festial 2007 (http://www.nyanimefestival.com/App/homepage.cfm?moduleid=4161&appname=100536). News of the new convention just sprouted over the weekend, so there's not a lot to say about it yet.

I'm sort of curious to see how popular an anime convention would be in NYC during December. Besides, it'll be another reason to hit up Midtown Comics. ^_^

How about the rest of you? What do you all think?

Its an odd time of year to have a con. It seems nice to have a convention that's not during the summer, but it's a bad time for traveling, especially for school- and college-aged people. The weather doesn't exactly lend itself to cosplay either.

It'll be nice for those who already live in New York, but I don't think they'll get the amount of traveling con-goers that other, better times conventions do.

Woot its in NY my state. However December wheather is just a bad idea so im probably not going to go and with College, it makes it even more doubtful.

Personally, I don't mind the time of year (I like December...XD), but my college schedule will be the deciding factor. And luckily, if I went, I wouldn't have to dig into my pocket for a hotel room. w00t.


Maybe it will be put into the summer next year if this year is successful, but then summer would be saturated with Northeast/Mid-Atlantic cons (at least 4 major cons in 3 months...lovely job that does on the wallet).

When I first saw this, I was thinking, "Ah, crap, it's too early before my annual visit back to NY for the holidays." (I grew up in Brooklyn, and my folks are still there.)

But then I had a dream last night, wherein I got a convention program in the mail, and both Kanno Yoko and Kajiura Yuki were listed as guests of honor. So if that turns out to be the case, maybe I'll head there after all. Right after I place some bets on who's going to the World Series.
