I would have thought it'd be more appropriate to review it as two separate series, rather than one series together, since that was how it was (essentially) released.

I just want to know if this means Kei is no longer retired? :)

Despite the holes here and there, both sets are basically two halves of a whole. I wouldn't consider them anything aside from a complete series. If the newer OVA took a completely dramatic turn or tried to tell a different complete story, sure I'd review them seperate. But since the more recent OVA's purpose was to provide said backstory for the original and complete it, it just felt to me like it was a full OVA; albeit 10 years in the making.

Yeah, but that's not really different to most prequels. Most prequels try to fill in a back story of some sort, and generally prequels, just as sequels are considered different titles and are reviewed as such. I'd have thought the second set of Jojo OVAs constituted a prequel, particularly considering that they were made ten years after the first set of OVAs.

I'm not saying you should change it, by the way. I'm just saying I'd have approached it differently.

Well, both of the OVAs are different, the original 6 OVAs are more faithful to the manga and just accurately show a few of the best fights of the series. The prequel on the other hand, tooked some liberties with the story and also has some noticiable differences in the character personalities and a more serious tone (probably because it had a different director).
The differences might not be worth a seperate review, but it at least should be pointed out.

The first 6 took some major liberties also. On their own, they're pretty incomplete parts beyond that of a normal prequel/sequel label, as far as I'm cocerned.

What? The Manga differences? That didn't bias my review of the anime at all. If we took manga differences into account, I assure you most of the Full Metal Alchemist grades would be wildly different etc etc etc

The original made a few changes but they werent that drastic. The prequel also had some big pasing problems.
