Patlabor 1, Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer, Fruits Basket, Elf Princess Rane, Voices of a Distant Star, Now and Then Here and There, Cat Soup, Koi Kaze (read synopsis before venturing forward), His and Her Circumstances, Nadia, Hyper Police, Fancy Lala, Gakuen Alice, Wicked City, Ninja Scroll, Neo Tokyo, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, X TV series, Pom Poko, My Neighbors the Yamadas, Perfect Blue, Millenium Actress, Memories, Kimagure Orange Road 1st Movie (best appreciated through TV series viewing first), My Dear Marie, Doomed Megalopolis, Astro Boy ('80), Lupin III (start with Castle of Cagliostro), Dominion Tank Police, Appleseed (the newer one preferrably), Ghost in the Shell (just the first movie, haven't seen SAC, and the second movie is not easy to recommend thanks to its dialogue), Super Dimensional Fortress Macross ('82), Macross Plus, Mobile Suit Gundam 0079, The Fist of the North Star (funny stuff), Read or Die OVA, Nausicaa, Porco Rosso, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, DiGi Charat TV, Excel Saga, Madox-01, Riding Bean, Vampire Princess Miyu OVA, and finally You're Under Arrest.

Or you could just read some reviews on this site and others around the internet if you choose. Hope that list of anime helps.

And just to follow up on Twenty's post, make sure to use the "Search" function in the above bar, that should let you look around for any potential threads that have already been created for what you might be asking. There's been tons of threads for "What's Your Favorite Anime Ever" and such.

But if it's been a while, typically there's nothing wrong with posting another like thread I would think (if it's been over a year or something like that). Nothing wrong with asking questions, but make sure to watch out for asking anything that may have already been asked too many times consecutively. And as Twenty said, make sure to check out any "Sticky" labeled threads at the top of each section just in case there's some information that can already be provided.

The best thing to definitely do in your posts is be specific in what you're looking for, maybe not "the best anime ever" so much as "which anime would be best to see" for whatever your tastes or mood may be. That's just a helpful suggestion, but it's all good, no wrong doing here. But if you have any questions, click on the "FAQ" link on the user bar at the top, or ask a mod if you have any worries.
