View Full Version : Lockdown is sweet!

Question to the mods mainly, what is probably the most gratifying thread lockdown you've ever performed?
If some third-party wishes to laugh alongside some of the "Lockdown Greats," feel free.
Please post links to some of the "All-time Greats" in this thread for everyone's amusement at the least.
Unless you want me to steal all the glory right here!

I liked the time me and Maca (maybe Yuri too?) quote-spammed how Boomer sucked Kain's dick or something. Too bad it was deleted by some jealous mods.
I must say that my more memorable moderating moments are mostly deletions and not closings. I mean, closing threads is everyday kind of stuff. If stuff's really bad we delete it so that member's can't see. :D

Mana here is the worst about deleting the good stuff. I can't even maintain art threads or run favorite animal polls with her arounds.

As long as you keep my good stuff posted, I couldn't care less ^_-

I hate doing all mod duties. It means work. Therefore my favorite locking/deleting/merging is the one that doesn't happen.

I already figured being a mod was like working a job without the pay, but at least you can be your own boss in some manner. Also, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is your only enemy when AA is involved, no need to worry about job security in your shoes! But then, your job can be stressful if 15 or so people in a day discuss why Adult Swim's anime isn't as good as the stuff outside television. It's like we need more threads with "Cool Devices: and it's many symbolic gestures!" to keep things from being too coincidential.
Note: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome sucks the life force out of your hands, so keep those hands straight!

Oh man, there was this one thread where some spammer (I think it was the infamous Kelis Kracks (http://www.animeacademy.com/forums/member.php?u=3955)) posted a thread saying something along the lines of:
"My mother slept with my local reverand, what does this mean?"
To which the only reply was:
"It means you're mother's a whore"
Kain closed the thread with a simple "..." but Eek came in with an edit saying something along the lines of "You almost needed to find yourself a new prof because I just about died".
Mother of God that was hilarious.
Also, if you want to read some truely retarded shit, go through Kelis Krack's old posts. That banning was like watching a plane full of clowns crashing in slow-mo.

Wow, even Beavis and Butthead had some wit or sarcasm in their dialogue.
But I've never seen so many closings in my life, and I've truly laughed more than my share within just a few minutes.
I know I've had my impulses to make threads that suggested button-pushing from time to time (Milli Vanilli, Jean Claude VanDamme, Mike Tyson), but that's just when I'm in the mood to experiment after making some thoughtful threads worthy of discussion. However, I could never bring myself to type like that!

Best thread I've ever seen get locked is the "Anime Academy mods (or campus guys) are Nazi's" Names a bit different but it had some of the funniest moments in AA.

I actually never even participated in that whole fiasco, I just have a good memory. And yeah, Heimdal posted in the thread arguing for KgNE, but I was referring to someone else; that member got banned.
Edit: I completely skipped over Kuzu's post. He got it.

Oh god. I remember Kelis Kracks. I've never been so frustrated online as I was with her. I still can't decide if she was a troll... or if she really was that pure of an idiot.
My favorite thread of hers, hands down:

Back then, I was absolutely furious at her. But reading through it now, it's hilarious.

She's clearly taking the piss.
I stand by that to this day. There's just no way in hell someone can be that retarded, it's not possible. But still, looking back, it does seem pretty goddamn hilarious.

My all time favorite was animerulez39829223298234382923 or whatever.
The guy was obviously ban material since day one. But, he didn't do anything ban worthy. Eventually, he made some kind of slip or other, I think it was violating sig limits repeatedly.
I decided to have fun. At the time, he had some kind of Naruto-related sig text. Like, the #1 ninja of the wind village or something. Being the awesome moderator I am, I quickly realized that he really meant Bratz, not Naruto.
What followed was about an hour of back and forth between us. We changed his sig and avatar to a Bratz theme. Not realizing that Opera lets you do all sorts of funky time saving things, he kept changing it back. Time for us to change it: 3s. Time for him: 2 minutes or so.
Eventually, he made a thread thinking that he got a new computer virus that was going around. (There was a thread in Misc about some virus threat.) We convinced him that he did have the virus and that was what caused his avatar to change at random.
Fun before banning = win.

I agree it's hard to imagine somebody that stupid, maybe she had autism? Or maybe I'm just kidding myself.

I remember stumbling across that thread. I had just finished watching it, and I thought it was balls, and here's this guy saying it's the best damn thing since sliced bread.
In all fairness, though, it wasn't the thread starter that made that topic amusing, it was that loki-sama or whoever who came in to 'defend' him. Poor bloke had to watch his thread go to shit.

Noob-deceiving
One of the most popular pastimes for non-n00bs is to tell them to do random shit. For example, when asking about anything on a program 1 in 5 times somebody will tell them to type in /quit or press Alt+F4.
Because the typical n00b is a gullible dumb****, they will do anything if they think it helps them. For example, on certain internet games (Enemy Territory) it is possible to tell a n00b how to change their config settings to like, totally make the controls heaps better.
Far from advancing their gaming experience, n00bs find their controls paralysed.
n00b: No seriously, what the **** is wrong with this?
elite: LOL
n00b: No please, help me fix this ****in thing! If my dad see's the computers ****ed he's gonna skitz!!!
elite: Go to bob69.com, it tells you how to fix it
n00b: NO ITS NOT FUNNY! HELP ME PLZ ITS ALL ****ED UP! HOW TO I GET IT BACK TO NORMAL
You get the point...

Damn if you didn't let some of these threads go on forever. We never put up with that crap on our tech sites...
"I think my harddrive died, what do you guys think I should..." BANNED!
"What does CMOS stand for?" BANNED!
"I think my graphics card is pretty cool, does anyone else have a cool graphics..." BANNED!
And I will forever hold close to my heart Realist's quote,
"Dude, they are not Nazis, they just want this forum to be a godd forum without devolving into what a lot of forums turn into. The moderators are important even if you dont like them."
