Because it truely needs its own thread for episode discussion and all of that baggage.
Anyone pumped? Or, should I put it like this- anyone pumped that possibly, since Kelly, we'll be graced with fresh talent?
I am optimistic. But just barely.

I want to see more weird people kicking ass like Taylor Hicks. I don't care what anyone says, I thought the dude owned.
Weeell. Not really. If it weren't for Simon, and despite Simon, alot of people get in simply "to make the show interesting." I'm hopeful, though. And I pray every day that some talent WILL show up.

UGH I'm so SAD that he won, I honestly don't like his voice at all ... I had the McFever all season long though......I'm so sad she didn't win, she should have at least tried to pull a Clay Akin on Hicks but she didn't.
Pachi, I think Kelly did really well but I don't really remember her early stuff being all that great, I think her new songs are doing just fine and sound good but her early stuff is really, really hard for me to remember or see as memorable >.<;

My friend Jay auditioned last year. He wasn't laughable enough to get in front of the judges and didn't fit a definable stereotype...but his umbrella made it onto TV in the Chicago episode! Ryan Seacrest needed one, so they paid Jay $20 for his umbrella. :p
I, for one, am a Hicks fan. More power to the guy who unashamedly does his own thing - SOUL PATROL! WHOO! :)

Yech. Come 8 pm I try to dash away from the living room so I don't have to listen to the bad first round auditions. Bleeds my ears. :< (My parents are fans.)
Christopher was my fave from last season. Shame he didn't win, because he was the most charismatic of the bunch.

I love the fact Tailor won... he was the odd man out and still managed to show his talent and win.
But I hated when Chris left... he's great. I downloaded all the songs from his new CD and I have to say... he's a guy I'd buy the cds you know? He has what it takes.

^^ long time no see >_>
I was kind of bored at this episode of auditions, not enough people to laugh at. They spent alot more time going through people's backgrounds and stuff, making it obvious who was going to make it. One thing I did enjoy was all the people who lost trying to go through the wrong door xD.

Taylor was alright. He was unique, which was a total plus for him. But also terribly annoying.
So far, I've liked two contestants that we've seen. I really love the crack-baby girl. Most of the time, I'm totally bored by Whitney-wannabes, but dayyum, this bitch can belt a note like Alice Smith. I also really liked the latino woman who sang Blondie and Shakira. Her voice isn't super, but she's a diamond in the rough and she's totally charismatic, I love it. :)

Funny P-san, I was just talking about those two :)
I too enjoy the crack-baby girl, although...honestly she doesn't have a "star face" if you get my drift, shes got more of a "radio face"
Shakira girl? Didn't like her. Got a good voice but I find her personality a bit too bubbly and annoying for me doesn't mean I won't support her though because she did do a good job singing.
What I was really disappointed in was that kid that came out cussing and crying like a little baby. True, Randy was really, REALLY mean to him and mocking him in his face but ugh he didn't need to come out cussing like a sailor.
As Akuhei said, they spent too much time on the people, I wanted to see more who auditioned and less of their life story, although the sailor one was good and appropriate the one of the mall make-up girl wasn't needed.

Although I gotta say, I didn't think the voice coach was all that bad. From the perspective of someone who has also had vocal training, he had his technique down. The vibrato was a little much, but he'd know the techniques to minimize that, and his voice had a really nice tone. Dunno if I'd have put him through for this particular competition, but the amount of flack he got from the judges was just ridiculous. He was not that bad.
I also liked the guy who did the Italian aria and then pronounced the Italian wrong :p.
Really, the thing that annoys me the most is when Randy Jackson tries to sound like he knows music theory. Someone really needs to give him a dictionary of music terms or something, becaues he is musically incompetent. Seriously, the number of stupid things he says is unavoidable. Examples:
1. It is not called a "turn," it is called a "run."
2. Women do not have a falsetto.
3. While men have falsettos, when a man sings relatively high notes in chest voice, it is not falsetto.
Those are just a few.
He's dumb.

I lost interest in watching American Idol after the first 2-3 seasons. There are more "I-don't-have-talent-but-stood-in-line-forever-to-compete-and-get-sent-home-crying" than the people who actually have talent. Personally, the only American Idol people's albums that I do like are Kelly's and Clay's, though I heard on netscape news a few weeks back that Clay is an arse. Tis a shame that Clay has such a nice voice, but is unattractive and an arse... or so netscape news claims with an article of theirs.

Aww. I love Randy. He's fat. AND black. Win.
Although he's gotten a tad meaner. Simon is still the same, a little toned downed however. His comments still bite like an old woman's buttcheeks. Paula is so quiet, I forget she's there most of the time! Until a male walks in and her deprived self is drooling in a daze. That's when I see her. However, I must admit that it's better than her "drunk by 6" tipsy attitude of last season. Yawn.
I'm already dreading the generic Stevie Wonder and Barry Manilow nights. Eww, please not. Talented singers, okay? I was thrilled that Simon hinted a possible ABBA night. HELL YES. Now we need only Etty and we are all set. :D
Crackbaby 4 Win, though. And maybe that big ass woman, the amazon one. <3

Man... I've always wanted to say this to Randy. He really is in need of some lessons!
You know... it's funny you mentioned this... When I'm watching this show with my family they always complain I'm too demanding and critical. I always tell them when a singer makes a mistake or when the judge says something wrong and all. hehehe They hate me for that, my family, I mean... they say I spoil their fun... but you know... it's the way I am... I'm way too perfeccionist.

Courtney Love... I loved her while she was in the band but...
Anyway, has anyone else noticed that Paula is a whole lot more, uhm, trying-hard-to-be-cutesy? I mean, with the voice thing, when she comments. It's like, she's trying to make her voice sound like a child's? <.<

^All I can say is expect Love's next album to kick some ass. Two words: Linda Perry.
Paula has always been, I dunno, tipsy. She is trying to cut it out, you can tell, but I don't think it'll save her job. I'll honestly miss the fighting between Simon and her. Although, with Courtney, I'm sure there'll be even more fights to look forward to. <3

If that is the producers' complaint about her, what in the world would be the point of replacing her with Courtney Love? :p
Pretty much the black girls are pwning everyone else this season. I've got my money on either Stephanie, Melinda or Lakisha (sp?) especially.
I was a little sad to see Rudy go. He was more talented than half the guys who stayed (Sundance, anyone? I'm sorry, that was just weird).
So how about Antonella's nude photos that just surfaced on the internet? (I hate to say it, but they're probably more interesting than her most recent performance. :/)

This season i think is a failure. They don't have any people that stand out as being amazing compared to the past seasons. Its going to be lackluster and unentertaining except for maybe Simon becuase he makes fun of everyone, which adds a little to the show but not enough to make it a great show.

Ryan is a bit too annoying this season. Simon is just being his usual self, and not really as "mean" as he usually is, but Ryan has to butt in with his lame little side comments. He's a sad person.

Funny story about Sanjaya. There was an article about all his many hairstyles in the newspaper I get with a little picture of him on the front. Well, I first saw the article from upside down while drinking my morning coffee, and my first thought was "Antonella? I thought she got kicked off!" Little did I know that the oh-so-effeminate face was actually Sanjaya. I felt kind of bad...but not really.

She was the only reason I even bothered to watch the results show since I like that song and wondered how good she could do it live. Apparently, not that well when she's "performing."
I'm sick of all these musicians who are out of breath and can't hit a single note because they're too busy jumping around trying to bring "energy" to the performance.

I'm mad that Gina's gone. She was one of the best vocalists on the show, and I give her props for wearing her tongue piercing even though the producers told her not to! :)
I can't help it, I like Melinda. She's very polished. Not so nuts about Lakisha. But Jordin is easily the most versatile as well as being one of the most talented, though I didn't love her yesterday.
And is anyone else surprised that the judges found Blake's performance last night to be so amazing? I was actually rather bored. :p (I still adore Blake, however.)
All I have to say about Sanjaya is, he was surprisingly good last night. Not because he's getting better, but because he made an incredibly wise strategic move. Every thirteen-year-old in the country was swooning over their phones. :p
Now I just have to sit back and wait for Haley to get the boot. What Simon said about her last night completely hit the nail on the head. Or as my mom observed, "she's kind of like the hot but only partially-talented chick you could pick up in a bar." Rofl.

American Idol is going the way of the Survivor fad
Like how exactly? The fact that it won't go away?

As happy as I was to see Sanjaya gone, I felt a little bad about it too. What can I say? Perhaps he grew on me a bit.
He's not meant for a big stage, but he does have a pleasant voice.
I'm anticipating a Jordin-Melinda showdown. Thoughts?

I was so glad to see Sanjaya leave. I don't feel sympathy for the kid at all, he sucked. Plus he's only 17 years old. After American Idol, he's bound to make some good money.
I'm hoping that Blake and Melinda will be the two finalists.

So. Bon Jovi night.
Blake > everyone. He rolled the dice, and he scored big. I thought it was awesome. What I love about Blake is that he's totally avant-garde, but it's still accessible - it's not weird, it's just fresh and cool.
Everyone else > Jordin. :( But she has the fan base and the votes from last week (where she was apparently extremely amazing, but I just thought she was going flat on the top notes, oh well) to keep her going.
I think it was a bad omen that Phil sang that he was "goin' down in a blaze of glory," seeing as how there are two people going home tomorrow. It's going to be a tough night.
I think Chris is long overdue to be headed home.

Thanks for mentioning this. I feel kind of the opposite, though. I don't usually watch, but Blake caught my attention this time because he looks like a typical college kid, bound for mediocrity. I'm sorry, he gives me that impression. But he was phenomenally entertaining tonight, which makes it all the more thrilling. Hell of a gamble, though.
If there's anything I really hate about that show, though, it's the studio audience.

I think Chris should even be gone before Sanjaya! Sanjaya has more potential than Chris! (Just an opinion, though!)
Blake sure did one hell of a performance, though! Love it! He sure did roll the dice! Even Simon complimented Blake's performance that night!
I think Jordin's performance that night is kind of different than her past performance earlier in American Idol!
I hope Jordin and Blake are the two finalists!

I would be good with Melinda vs. Blake or Jordin vs. Blake. But at this point, it's anyone's ball game. And that's okay, because no matter what, all four of them will have careers, and that is what's important.

Blake better win.
I'm a little doubtful though. This is America we are talking about. Are they ready for a change?

I don't normally watch this show, but I saw that they were doing a Bon Jovi week so I decided to check out some of the performances via youtube.
I wasn't expecting to see anything as awesome as Blake Lewis's performance of "You Give Love a Bad Name". It was pretty off the wall! I think that he would be the most lucrative winner as he has a generally strong voice and can play around with many different styles of music. He's also much more attractive than some of the male winners of years past, and so I think that will also allow for him to be very successful.

Jordin in the finals
*my sis and I sighed (uh-oh, they'll probably boot off Blake)*
then... Melinda goes home!!! Hooray! I have nothing against Jordin or Melinda, but as long as Blake's there...
*my sis and I screamed out lungs out*
