Usual drill. Vote up. Try to withhold comments until towards the latter parts of the week when it's a little more obvious who's going to win (or is at least still in the race). After that, however, comments are encouraged so take a few minutes and offer some criticism. The contest is better for it.

NHK ni Youkoso!: You know, I struggled with NHK since I never could exactly put my finger on what I didn't like about it. You've done a really good job at that, clearly highlighting the good and bad in the series with some good, tight, well structured writing. An excellent piece that I can't really criticize... it just lacked some of the imagination of COMPL3X's review. If it weren't for him, you'd have gotten my vote.

Boogiepop Phantom: Short and to the point. As a recommendation, it works perfectly, but it's just a level below the two better reviews in this contest, lacking some of the flair of these two works. Some of the writing was a bit cliched at times, and there were a few minor grammatical errors (eg "The suspense works I was often on the edge of my seat.") Overall, a very good review.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu: You fail. Mikuru is love! It's a very long piece that offers some interesting commentaries on its popularity, as well as other general commentaries on the show itself which a lot of traditionalists would argue are superfluous to a review. But, from another point of view, you've taken the time to express your opinion on numerous aspects of the show, which I'd argue can only aid your readers. The tone and style is probably too different from what is accepted around here for you to think about winning this contest, but that doesn't mean it's not a well written opinion.

Slayers: Like the BP review, this one also works well as a recommendation, but as a piece of writing, it's fairly boring. Maybe a slightly deeper analysis would have helped, since it feels like you've only touched the surface of topics to write about in this series, or maybe it's just your source material, and that's all you could have written about (I wouldn't know, Slayers is the only title in this contest I haven't seen). It's not a bad review, but it just felt like something was missing.

Gankutsuou: My pick. I loved that summary. Writing it from the point of view of the title character in the same tone as his episode openers... brilliant. The review itself is outstanding; the analysis is deep, well structured, filled with colourful writing, but still allowing your obvious passion for the material to emanate. You also use a lot of strong verbs, which gets my big thumbs up, since a lot of the time that marks the difference between good and excellent writing. Outstanding review. Good job.

Yes. Let's keep the comments comming.
Yes people, don't avoid voting for me, the rightful winnar. Majority have chosen wisely, although only few of them don't mind boosting my already inflated ego. The rest of you 35.29%, you all lose by voting for obviously inferior products. Thank you contestants for trying to be my competition but you all fail, better luck next time! /end subliminal sore winner taunt

I'm not in a position to be writting a critique of anyone's review, so I'll just say I voted for complex.

I'm honestly feeling under the weather, so my comments are going to be a little on the short side...

NHK: Nice job with the detailing of each topic that you covered. Things seem to be neatly packed together.

BP: Nice and to the point, but grammatical errors bog this one down. Still, a nice, short review.

TMoHS: Well written, but a little on the verbose side. At any rate, you still put up a good review with a good amount of well thought out opinions

Slayers: This one's mine, so I'll stay quiet

Monte Cristo: This one got my vote based on the originality of the review. Everything was covered well and explained in a simple but succinct manner. Well done

OK then, that's all from me. Can't wait to see Round 12! Best of luck to everyone :)

Untrue, I get trounced by these guys all the time. Hold your head up high!

I went with Complex, simply the best review on here. Had L-Sama's been a tad longer though, it would have given you a run for your money I'd wager.

About two days left everyone. Vote if you haven't already (even if it does look like it's going to turn into a runaway victory) and leave some comments if you already have voted. I'm sure all contestants would appreciate the feedback, so please take the time to leave a few comments on their entries.

It's been some time since I voted in a Student Review Contest...

NHK ni Youkoso! - An overall great review that shows how reviews should be written and drafted. Essentially, this is your exemplary anime review but sorry, my vote didn't go here. My bad, AlterGenesis-X but go blame COMPL3X if you will.

Boogiepop Phantom - Very straightforward and compact with no loose ends. Personally, I felt like it's a tad too short for my taste, but other than that, nothing to complain about LadySage's review.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Very much the opposite of BP's review. I like how Ieyasu goes down to the bone elaborating on the myriad aspects of this unique series, but in so rendered the review too long for me. Oh, and yeah... you fail for your commentary for Mikuru. More Mikuru never hurts =P

Slayers - It's too superficial for me. I need more depth from this review. Write more on the story and beef up on the description portion. But still, it didn't bore me like some other horrendous review I've seen elsewhere.

Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo - Man, you've gotta start applying for Reviewer position back at The Nihon Review... You got skills; an undeniable one at that! I just love how your summary replicates the one shown on every Gankutsuou's opening sequence. Plus, the reason why my vote goes here is simply because, like the series, it flourishes class, articulation, imagination and grace - basically something NHK ni Youkoso!'s review lacks. So yeah, feel free to rub it in on the other contestants' faces. You deserve it.
