It seems that Clint Eastwood's movie about the battle of Iwo Jima from the Japanese point of view (with Ken "Last Samurai scene-stealer" Watanabe) is doing very well in Japan, and is being bandied about in Oscar discussions.
Has anybody in AA seen it?

I was really planning to see it, just never got around to it.
Apparently, it was drawn out and boring. That's what I've heard, but I guess I have too see it for myself before I make any final decisions. I'm a sucker for war movies.

To be honest, I've never heard of this film before in my life. I guess it isn't slated for a UK release?

Bumping just to post the trailer released by Warner Bros. Japan for this film. It's entirely in Japanese, but it got me interested; I also recognized not one but TWO actors in it! Go me.

I recognized two as well. So, is this going to be subbed and released in America? I never got around to watching Flags of Our Fathers, but I wanted to. I'm impressed that Eastwood made movies for both sides of the story.

It was already released in the States on December 20th, but only in certain places. It doesn't have a designated wide release yet.
