You know, songs to totally set you in the mood. I'm not so much into old fashioned hymns and such, although more modern songs that I'm fond offfff:
Oi To The World (by No Doubt): Favourite holiday song everrrr. It just rocks.
Santa Baby (by Madonna): I love this version. It's sensual and funny.
This Christmas: I like this song. It's upbeat and cheerful. <3
Anyone else?
:xmas:
John Lennon - Happy Christmas (War is Over). This is probably the one song during this season I don't mind hearing over and over again on the radio.

I'll be Home For Christmas and Silent Night, Holy Night.
Whenever I hear those two songs, I always think of soliders far from home during this time of year, no matter what army.
Silent Night...is especially lovely in the orginal German

My sentiments exactly. Maybe it's just cause it's Lennon, or cause it's a really good song. But It's the only Christmas related song I like.

oh man, good call. That song always gives me chills.
On a far less serious note, I have always had an unnatural attachment to "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses.
...oh and any Christmas song by John Valby, of course.

I always need some sentimental Christmas songs to bring tears of joy to me during the holidays, such as:
Weird Al - The Night Santa Went Crazy
Weird Al - Christmas At Ground Zero
Blink 182 - I Won't Be Home for Christmas
Larry the Cable Guy - Christmas Songs for the 90's
Bob and Doug Mckenzie - 12 Days of Christmas
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Carol of the Bells
They're more fun to listen to, than the same carols that I've heard millions of times.

The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl - 'Fairytale of New York'. It's the best Christmas song ever. Everyone needs to hear it.
The runner-up is the mighty 'Last Christmas' by Wham!. Obviously cheesy, but so good.
I don't know if it counts, but it's counted as a Christmas carol, so I'll go for Jeff Buckley's incredibly haunting rendition of 'Corpus Christi Carol'.
I'm also very partial to Bright Eye's version of 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' and Band Aid's original 80's version of 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'.
Honestly, I don't really like any of them....

 on the Waitresses.
Also:
"Father Christmas" by the Kinks
"You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" by Thurl Ravenscroft
"Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto" by James Brown
"Merry Christmas Baby (I Don't Want to Fight)" by the Ramones
"Merry F--kin' Christmas" by Mr. Garrison, South Park
And one traditional song, "White Christmas" by Otis Redding.

I'd love to see them live in concert...But anywho, this song is simply amazing. No other way to put it

My two personal favourites are O Holy Night, and Carol of Bells. I find both of them haunting, and I usually begin humming either of them at the beginning of December. ^_^

Has anyone heard The Killers' Christmas song 'A Great Big Sled' yet? It's a bit fab, to be honest. Unashamedly seasonal, cheesy, big, dumb...full of bells and stuff, it's very good.

i'm feeling "How To Destroy Christmas" by The Alcoholic Freshman, but i don't know why.
i've heard better anti-materialistic christmas rants before, but somehow he makes it work in a fun poppy punk ska song.

I declare this thread Hot, hot, hot!
I'm Mister Green Christmas
I'm Mister Sun
I'm Mister Heat Blister
I'm Mister Hundred and One
They call me Heat Miser,
What ever I touch
Starts to melt in my clutch
I'm too much!
He's Mister Green Christmas
He's Mister Sun
He's Mister Heat Blister
He's Mister Hundred and One
They call me Heat Miser,
What ever I touch
Starts to melt in my clutch
He's too much!
Thank you!
I never want to see a day
That's under sixty degrees
I'd rather have it eighty,
Ninety, one hundred degrees!
(spoken)
Oh, some like it hot, but I like it
REALLY hot! Hee hee!
He's Mister Green Christmas
He's Mister Sun
Sing it!
He's Mister Heat Blister
He's Mister Hundred and One
They call me Heat Miser,
What ever I touch
Starts to melt in my clutch
I'm too much!
Too Much!
