No threads on this? Wow.

Anyways. Shirley is a single-volume work written by Kaoru Mori, the same mangaka who wrote Emma (which I haven't read yet). It's a very pleasant slice-of-life type of manga; somewhat along the lines of YKK. It hasn't been licensed, so you'll need to grab the scanlations.

Now, then, read it and post!

I read it a while ago after I got interest in it from watching Emma. It was a very pleasant read, nice and relaxing but also engaging and I wasn't bored while reading it.

It is only one volume though, so after I finished it I had a desire to continue reading, but had it continue then it would have lost its charm quickly. I read it before starting Emma, and thinking about it, it felt more like a practice run on the part of the manga-ka. I stopped reading Emma at one point though and never picked it up again.

Surely, you can't mean to have us actually read something...

Yes. And I expect a five-page essay on it, due in a week.

Actually, Shirley was produced before Emma, but a second Shirley series was made which is just being scanlated right now. You can tell this is a more polished product just by looking at the artwork.

The second series picks up on where the first series left off.

Nice read... like anything made by Ms. Mori. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite illustrators. Her artwork is stunning.
