For those of you who don't know, AA Member Mira (http://www.animeacademy.com/forums/member.php?u=1832) is the Director of Publicity for Sakura-Con, a large anime and Japanese culture convention held in Seattle. A few months ago, I began working as her underling in the position of Newsletter Coordinator, basically in charge of writing and designing their now-electronic newsletter.
I've really enjoyed working with Mira and all the various convention staff. It's an honour for me to be able to work for the convention circuit and to do something positive for the anime community that I love so much. I'm sure that any of you lucky enough to be able to volunteer for a convention know exactly what I'm talking about ;)
I've yet to have the pleasure of attending Sakura-Con, but I hope to be able to this coming year. We have a lot of great guests and events lined up, and even more coming in the works.
I hope that some of you out there are planning on attending this year :D
It might be a bit early to bring it up still, as the convention is in April, but it's always best to plan early ^.^ I figured now would be a good time to start up a thread as the first newsletter, a project completed by Mira, Roark, and me, has just been released, along with a slew of guest and event information.
For all interested parties, a link to the convention website can be found in my signature, as well as right here: http://www.sakuracon.org/index.php
