Been reading up on the new grittier Bond. The word is that Daniel Craig makes a fabulous Bond. Not so sleek and sexy as Bonds past but more real..the phrase I believe was that he truly bleeds and shows real emotion. Anyone heard anything else, good or bad?

...he truly bleeds and shows real emotion.
I'm sure Hollywood will fix that.

Bond isn't supposed to be gritty. Batman was supposed to be gritty. Bond is supposed to stay sleek and sexy.

Can Mr. Craig equal Sean Connery as 007?
Pierce Brosnan came close, but fell just short
Lets wait and see if Craig is up to the challenge

Personally I like the new Bond, I think he fits the role quite well.

If you want to check him out in other roles watch the TV show Rome, he stars in that, and a movie called "18 Years of Alcohol" is ok, he is the lead in that.

I caught a preview for the new bond, and one thing confused me. If this is supposed to be going back to the beginning, to bond newly minted as a 00... why is the Dame Judi Dench playing M?
Zushio

Cause she's really good as M quite likely.

Bond has always had continuity issues from early on, its just part of the bond mystique, she plays a good M so they are keeping her.
another note; Q isnt present in the movie apparently and neither is moneypenny.

Yes this is the first Bond book written by Ian Flemming. So it would follow that it would be the beginning. Maybe even how Bond became 007 or got his liscence to kill.

Pierce Brosnan was my fave Bond... the new guy just isn't...uhm... good-looking enough. But, I shall go and watch the movie because my dad likes Bond movies.

It's a reboot of the Bond series. In other words, they've run out of stories and they're gonna start recycling them.
Dr. No with Daniel Craig!

Um, Daniel Craig is not in Rome, but he was in the Brit gangster flick Layer Cake, which I highly recommend

I think Yuri's got him confused with Kevin McKidd (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0571727/). >_>
Layer Cake was brilliant, and fully cemented CRAIG IS BOND in my impressionable mind. He'll be brilliant, no question.
And for people complaining about the new Bond being gritty, he was always meant to be. It looks like they'll be following the books more closely, keeping the idea of Bond essentially being an SAS killer in a tuxedo. God knows I dig the Bond movies, but I'd like to see them try a new tack. Bond isn't really relevant like he was - the Bourne movies knock the shit out of stuff like Die Another Day, and I firmly believe the 21st century incarnation of Bond should follow that route, but by no means copy it. I can't bloody wait for Casino Royale.

This was the stuff that Brosnan wanted. He ended up leaving because the studios only let him do it by half (The world is not enough and Die Another Day being good examples). The other half is the studios cheese and product placement which has basically ruined Bond over the years.
It seems it took PB leaving and negative feedback from DaD to finally get the point across.
I'm saving all my opinion on DC as Bond until I see the movie. I didn't like the fact he remained blonde but hair colour is not what makes Bond.
And Tremelo is right. The Bourne movies took DaD to school.
If there's a Ronin-style car chase or devastating crashes then I'm sold.
I thought Brosnan made a good Bond. He had the right demeanor for it. But then, that's speaking as an actor and not as a Bond fan, since I'm obvious not nearly as familar with it as some people here.

My friend said it was that Rome guy! I feel like a nunce now D:~
Ohh, I'm relieved, I was watching Rome like "This guy is Bond? Interesting..." although this Craig guy looks like an older version of him anyway.

Daniel Craig as an actor is good. i don't know how good he'll be as Bond, but i am confident he can do at least a decent job. He may be blonde, but i think we can let that go.

OK...saw it last night...I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I thought D. Craig made a fine Bond. Definitely better than Pierce Brosnan!

Honestly the only Bond I never liked was Timothy Dalton, he just didn't fit the role. I also don't think I ever saw George Lazenby's Bond. Still no one is going to be better than Sean Connery but it is hard to replace the original.
The verdict is still out on Daniel Craig for me since I haven't seen the movie yet but I heard that he was a good Bond from a lot of people.

I personally loved it. This was the Bond film I always wanted to see. Bond actually struggles in fights with other foes. He bleeds and get's bled on. And my personl favorite, he's an emotionless killer.
Ahhh! Ahhh Err! HAHahhaha! Your going to die with everyone knowing you scratched my balls!

It was a very good Bond flick and Craig makes a very good Bond. The plot was alot less linear than the recent Bond movies, although at some points I felt it jumped around a little TOO much. I know alot of people are complaining about it not following the book or some bullshit but they're just nitpicking. It's definitely worth the money and I would recommend it.

Original Casino Royal > your soul
Peter Sellers is obviously the greatest bond eva
David Niven > Judy Dench
and throw in Peter O Toole just for the heck of it
Orson Wells and the French guy from the Goddard movies (too hung over to look it up)
and William Holden
so nuff said
oh yeah and Woody Allen

Bloody awesome movie. I never was a huge fan of Peirce Brosnan. Not a bad 007 by any means, but too pretty boy for my taste. Craig had the right mix of grittiness and smartass attitude without pushing it. Although the rest of the movie had already won me over quite early on, the last scene in which
007 Shoots Mr. White in the knee cap area cemented a positive reaction on my part.

Just goes to show a man doesn't have to be pretty to be hot!! Really, though I have never read the books, I always imagined bond as a little more manly than Conner or Brosnen. The alpha male (I could protect you with just my little finger) is always gonna be attractive.

The new Bond movie was the first in a long time that I considered good. Although Daniel Craig lacked the debonair Bond usually portrays, he makes for a good action star, and yes, he really does bleed, a lot.
Sadly, Casino Royale seems to be a box office flop (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=jamesbond21.htm).

I really liked the new bond, its a hell of a lot better than the past offering, Invisable car my arse. I liked the back to basic approach and the almost complete lack of gadgets. I also though the action sequences were top notch, brutal and exciting without being silly, in fact the one thing you can't call this film is silly. Best bond since Goldeneye.
But it'll do ok at the box office, all it needs to do is double its money (to be classed a success) and DVD sale count alot these days also its still packing out cinemas in the UK.

My sister watched it with my mom. They liked it. Blood. The thought of a blond 007 doesn't appeal to me, so I didn't go and see it, thus ends my comment.

Movie was good, had nice action, and all that stuff. Craig was great, though, I'm not going to say he was better than Brosnan. Different strokes, ya know.
The one problem I had with the film was the length. At some points it just seemed like it would never end. Oh yeah, and maybe in the next film we'll get a bit more of Bond owning people. The "He's just beginning to become Bond!" excuse only works once, I want him ****ing bitches up in the next one.

Craig was very good and rugged and sleek Bond. None of the gadgets or stupid punch lines. A really enjoying film. Probably the best one since Goldeneye which is actually the same director.

yea, but the gadgets and punch lines were a part of what made Bond. If people don't find them appealing, then don't watch a Bond movie, go watch Guy Ritchie movies, but don't make a guy Ritchie movie and just tack the name 'bond' onto it.
http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/entertainment/Craig+Wants+Gay+Bond+Scene.-27208.html
I read that Craig wants Bond to be Gay in the next one. Nothing wrong with a spy who is gay, but again, as you distance yourself further and further from what people identify as Bond, why use the name at all?

Personally, I think you didn't read the article carefully enough. Craig said he is willing to do a full frontal nudity scene (for both girls, and yes, boys to see). This does not automatically mean Bond is gay.

I also liked the gadgets and Q, but It was introducing Bond, so I don't think it was neccesary for this film, maybe in the next one.
