I personally feel that either X-Men or a non-super hero series like Road to Perdition or Ghost World would make a very good transition from American style graphic novel presentatation to the smaller and vastly differant art style of most manga.
What to you think?

Erm, Road to Perdition pretty much came from a manga series:

Blade. A character I could give a shit about and wouldn't mind them ****ing up or butchering.

I could see Blade in a sort of Hellsing style series

Why bother? To me, that's like asking which Disney animated feature would make the best Ghibli film. Why not just leave it how it is and make something new?

Or choose something really ****ing awful that already has a ****ed up little fanbase and hope to dear God it makes a buck off of them and any new readers you're lucky enough to fool into buying BLADE: THE MANGA.

I think Spawn would make a great manga, to tell you the truth. Somehow, I can imagine Spawn made into an anime series in the style of Death Note... if you can imagine it like I can.

They did make a Spawn Manga, I can't remember much about it, but I'm 99% sure it does exist.

Not only does it exist, but you can still find it at most Barnes and Noble booksellers. And while we're at it, Silent Mobius artist Kia Asamiya had his own run on Batman, X-Men, and wrote a Hellboy short. Meanwhile, Tsutomu Nihei (Blame!) did Wolverine: Snikt! which I remember as having really stellar cover art, as well as a short in Marvel's recent Halo:Comics HC. So that sort of thing is out there.
Personally, while I'm all for a world art movement, I'd want it to be done in more subtle ways than just mangafying American franchises. I wouldn't want to see that anymore than I would want to see Japanese comics Americanized. However, I wouldn't be opposed to Japanese or American artists, not necessarily enforced to draw in a specific STYLE collaborating on comics. Some really interesting work could arise as a result.
However, I've seen the fruits of previous efforts to make American comics look like "manga", and it's been nothing short of horrific. Marvel Mangaverse, anyone?

I'm thinking the Armory Wars series, or ThunderCats. ThunderCats just because I'm pretty sure they'd do a better job with it then the comic guys that are playing with ideas now. They've got ThunderCats and Superman, ThunderCats in the future[like, their future as opposed to our future since they are in our future.. O.o], etc.
I'd love to see the original concept put into manga form. ;3

I was mostly thinking along the lines of how manga are presented. Manga are usually serialized in magazines, while American comics are usually smaller in size and devoted to a single character or group of characters.

Actually from what I've seen of american comics, though I'm no expert, is that they usually involve groups of hero-esque figures and that it takes atleast 25 issues to get anywhere plot wise.
Manga is sometimes published in magazines, but don't think all manga is done that way.
..devoted to a single character or group of characters.
Um.. This is usually the case for everything. Books, Movies, Manga, Anime, etc. >>;

Hmm well I'm going to say I wouldn't mind a Green Lantern manga, I think the idea would carry well because of the different idea schemes in Japan.

Hm....that's a really good question. I'd have to go with The Caped Crusader: Batman! His story seems to be of a favorable structure to be made into a fairly successful and perhaps lengthy manga.
Mangaka Kia Asamiya (of Nadesico and Silent Mobius fame) did some Batman stuff for a while.

Really? Cool. Do you know if it's available state-side?
I know that DC translated some of them, and a few turned up on Amazon. I don't know how easy it would be to find them in comic stores or anything, but you can find quite a bit online :D

Sounds like a challenge for me to undertake. I'll have to look into this, that I will! ^_^

They did a manga version of Batman where he faced all of his old foes, the story wasn't all that great but the artwork was good, you should be able to find it, it's not that hard to get hold of in the UK. An there was the Star Wars manga which was cool. But i'd love to see a manga version of Preacher or Ghost world

There's also a manga version of Spiderman, where he has a package that would put John Holmes to shame.

I think it would be interesting to see how Strangers in Paradise, by Terry Moore would be represented in a manga style.
...Come on. The comic's already got a cute Asian guy with glasses. :3

If you're still interested, look up "Batman: Child of Dreams". DC had a thick trade paperback for it. No earthly clue if it's still in print though, since it's been a couple odd years since I've seen it in stores.
And while I'm at it, in the spirit of this thread and the idea of international comic exchange, I'd be willing to see Marvel give Jademan Comics Maestro Tony Wong a shot at their old Heroes For Hire group. Seeing Wong bring in his unique brand of hilariously unintentional racism, over-the-top nonsense, and knack for creating some of the most out and out ridiculous characters and techniques this side of golden age superhero books would be a snug fit for a retro retread of the adventures of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Sure it's not technically manga since the artist/writer is Chinese, but if it meant Wong doing more of what he did back in the 80's and living up to his promise to be "The Walt Disney of China" I'd be all for it.

Kia Asamiya worked for Marvel stateside, doing some issues of Uncanny X-Men, and there are several artists at Marvel, including the fellow who draws Mary Jane Loves Spider-Man, whose visual language would not look out of place in a copy of Chobits or some other Manga

Tsutomou Nihei (Blame!) did a one-shot with Wolverine called Snikt!. Not exactly a stirring plot, and it was more Wolverine being thrust into a Nihei story than anything else, but it was still pretty fun. I think I'd like to see more mangaka's takes on old Logan- there's alot of potential there.

Wolverine as a manga would be awesome due to the fact that there could be more of a Mature rating.
Wolverine/Berserk style?
