this is pretty cool. So I thought i'd test it out on the users here (to see how good it is)

Work this out as you read ...
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to go out to eat. (more than once but less than 10)
2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)
3. Add 5
4 Multiply it by 50
5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1756 (If you haven't, add 1755)
6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number
(I.e., how! Many times you want to go out to restaurants
in a week.)
The next two numbers are....
YOUR AGE!

What if you're less than 10 years old? :<

EDIT: then use a different equation, it isn't designed for 10-year olds.

Then that, sir, is discrimination.

Yeah, that's pretty neat. I used to have this book called Mathemagic (http://books.google.com/books?id=kEq8vLRfauoC&printsec=frontcover&dq=%22mathemagic%22+book&psp=1) that I ordered off one of those Scholastic forms they handed out in school. I loved doing all the little equations; I could sit there for hours with just some paper and pencil and that book. One particular day, I suppose I had been at it for a bit too long because I had the worst nightmare that night and woke up with a horrible headache and seeing numbers and signs everywhere. So yeah, don't go doing those things for too long. x_x

I appreciate the advice Ms. Sohryu. Though if it comes to that, then I just wasn't fit to handle it.

lol (someone's been watching too much Pulp Ficion)

I doubt it'll ever come to that though. Me being unfit to handle math is a very big if.

Excuse you, I happen to be perfectly fit to handle math. Jeez you tell one story and all of a sudden you're a dumbass or something...

My apologies, I didn't mean it like that

No, you did, and lost all chances to score.

I, on the otherhand, suck at math. You lost me when you started multiplying by 50.

@ Sohryu: I did not intend to call you a dumbass as you put it, I was out of line with that comment and I apologize

@ ojisan: wasn't trying to

Give it time . . .

Give it time.

Bah, hardly impressive. Write down the algorithm and simply turn the algebra handle.

n=(x*2+5)*50+1756-y-(2006-z)
where x is the number in step 1, y is 1 or 0 depending on whether you've had your birthday this year or not, and 2006-z is the year in which you were born... in other words, z is the age you will be at the end of the year.

n=100*x+z-y

z-y = your current age.

Basic algebra always makes short work of these things.

That's not necessary at all. If you were 9, for example, then the last two digits would be 0 and 9. It still works.

Pfsh. Take all the fun out of it, why don't you?

I wish I could pass algebra...
