I stole this from another forum, but I thought it was interesting and could spark some good debate.

Basically a criticism of CNN for not having any real news. I don't actually watch CNN (just CTV and CBC), so I'm curious what the Americans think of this.

I get all my news from the Daily Show. :3
No, really. There's a reason my homepage is BBC News.
Didn't feel like reading the whole article, (saw how long it was and just skimmed through the pictures >_>) but I must admit, I'm not surprised.
Then again, I don't even watch the news and I know where England is :D

One of the advantages of knowing several languages is you can get the same international news from completely different perspectives.
As far as my news source in the States, NPR all the way.

NPR is good stuff.
I get most of my news from the newspaper rather than TV, or the online counterparts of the newspapers:
Santa Cruz Sentinel (local paper) (http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/)
San Jose Mercury News (http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/)
Those two are what I tend to read regularly since I pick them up almost every morning. As far as other news goes, I have my homepage set to that custom Google thing that shows stories from a variety of sources.

On my Google Homepage:
BBC News world edition (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/default.stm)
Times Online world edition (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/global/)
Mail & Guardian Online (http://www.mg.co.za/)
Christian Science Monitor world edition (http://www.csmonitor.com/world/)
Times of India world edition (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/)
New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/index.html?partner=rssnyt)
Slashdot (http://slashdot.org/)
MacSlash (http://macslash.org/)
MacRumors (http://www.macrumors.com/)
AnimeOnDVD (http://www.animeondvd.com/)
I get all of my news online, rather than from the TV or newspaper.

I'm on CNN's breaking news email list and have never found any of the articles they sent me over the past year to be pointless... I never take a look at their homepage though...
My primary internet source for news is Yahoo, but for the most part I get my news from the the Sun Times and word of mouth.

It's been at least two years since I last looked at CNN.com, but I always ascribed it as more US news oriented than world news oriented instead of being mostly fluff. Looking at it again today though, I'm afraid I have to agree with "lokiloki". It appears to me that CNN.com is trying to offer too much variety, missing the trees for the forest. It has a few "actual" news headlines mixed in with more localized (US) stories, accompanied by entertainment headlines, next to video stories, and all surrounded by several ads. It's a mess.

Excellent source of news that is updated every 3 minutes or so. Normally I just look over the BBC headlines.

Step 1: Form hypothesis: "CNN.com sucks"
Step 2: Find slow news day so fluff items are on front page
Step 3: Generalize that the website is like that all the time
Step 4: Find "evil" government's news page
Step 5: Generalize about the page without bothering to read the actual articles
Step 6: Find page on way back machine during the DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION
Step 7: Make more sweeping generalizations
Step 8: Adjust your hypothesis: "CNN.com use to be good. Now it sucks."
Step 9: Say your hypothesis rocks. Bask in the glow of the Internet masses.
Now before you come screaming at me, I don't read CNN.com. But ads on websites? Welcome to the Internet. Video on websites? Welcome to cheap and easy to get high-speed internet. Fluff in the news? Get outta here. That never happens.
Edit: gg typos
Edit 2: One more thing. Firefox with adblock means I never have to look at an ad banner again. <.<

So harsh! Now you're just lashing out in a knee-jerk reaction because we insulted Sean Hannity. We do it because we care! I feel disappointed in myself that I didn't find this out sooner, to show you the truth path away from Hannity's insanity. (Hey, that rhymes!)
Come to the light, DH.
