I bought Madman's region 4 release of Only Yesterday today (yes, we are lucky enough to have one) and to my surprise I find that Kain has been quoted!

Clicky Linky Thingy (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v486/Twotwenty/aa-onlyyesterday.jpg)

I went to Madman's Ghibli website (http://www.madman.com.au/studioghibli/yesterday.html?releaseId=6848&method=view), and it's there too! What's really cool is that on the website there's three quotes and yet the only one printed on the actual DVD cover is the AA one!

I've also been sitting on this one for a while and haven't said anything, but Kain is also quoted at the top of the front cover of Siren's region 4 release of Jin-roh!

Another Clicky Linky Thingy (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v486/Twotwenty/aa-jinroh.jpg)

Has anyone else come across any examples of the AA being quoted? Because this is some pretty http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v486/Twotwenty/kickinrad.gif free advertising, especially on the Only Yesterday one.

I wish I have, but, sadly, I haven't. I'm trying to figure out a sneaky way to put AA someone in my Sakura-Con newsletter >.>;

Kain probably paid them to do it :D.

This just shows how cool AA is :D.

Does that mean will have an invasion of Aussies?

If so, I have to bring out my fake Dingo and Eucaliptus tree from the den.

Seriously though, that is way WAY cool.

The Jin-Roh one's been out since 2003 and it's now really hard to come by (lol Siren) so any fresh meat from that is long gone. But given that the the Only Yesterday release was only two days ago it would not only attract more people to the AA but good people to the AA (seeing as it's Only Yesterday). But hey, even if it doesn't, it's a Ghibli film. :D

For a while now, Central Park Media has used Mugs' review of Descendant of the Dark for its press media kit:

http://www.centralparkmedia.com/cpmdb/epk_pdf/DescendantsofDarkness-6-24-02-AAC.pdf

Also, I could've sworn we've been quoted several times by FUNimation. Mugs and I have/had a relationship with one of their marketing managers.

That's really cool. This site's garnered some real credibility for itself over the years.

Wow, that's awesome. Anime review sites do get quoted a lot on dvd's and such so it's not too surprising.

So I guess Aussies make up the majority of the hits at this site.

Congradulations Kain, you've left your mark on both the internet and real life.

How cool. And I agree, an influx of the kind of folks who would buy Only Yesterday should be a very positive thing.

I'm not really surprised because of the fact that this site has been around for a time now... Also considering the fact that the site steadily grows, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened... And with so many dedicated members who contribute to its growth, the AA has indeed gone far...

Wow, that's awesome to see, I never thought I'd see Anime Academy quoted on a Dvd title. That's just plain cool to know, it'll make me look closer at the quotes on the dvd boxes to see if the site is quoted once again.

Oh snap!

I knew that my copy of Jin-Roh was definitely old enough, but I never once thought to actually read the blurb on the top. And yes, my copy of it does indeed contain Kain's quote. Freaking awesome!

What about Tekken!?

"Now that I think about it, 'uh...' pretty much sums it up." - Kain

I'd love to see that on the dvd case! :XD:

Counter-productive marketing for the win!

That would be so awesome to see negative or mediocre quotes on a DVD box.

"Subpar acting in a predictable plot that has been done better countless times before!"

"Two and a half stars!"

"Two Thumbs Down!
- Ebert and Roeper"

I would buy.

Imagine Soul Plane or Alone in the Dark elevated as massive blockbusters because of horrible acclaim!

"What's this gay bull$hit!? This sucks!" - Milkymagic on Glitter

"Did I remember to flush when I left the bathroom!?" - Milkymagic on Alone in the Dark

"I look at this plot and think: wasn't this supposed to be a porn?" - Milkymagic on Soul Plane

They should make a Criterion Collection for bad movies, just imagine all the gold mined from that!

Film Enthusiast: "Wow! They have a collector's edition of Nightmare on Elm Street 5! Thank you god!"

Bad is the new good. XD

More counter-productive DVD marketing!

Final Approach

"The only reason why I would recommend this anime would be to play an April Fool's joke on someone... and it would be a cruel joke at that." - Soundchazer

Voltage Fighter: Gowcaizer

"...We both fell asleep before the first OVA was over." - Mugs

I had actually put some serious consideration into starting a negative movie review site, like a badmovies.com or something. Like a regular review site, only backwards. Imagine, the only review site where sponsors would actually pay you to not review their titles.

Do it! That sounds awesome!

Of course, maybe watching too many bad movies could make your head explode...just don't touch Master of Disguise after a long stretch, and you should be okay.

More counter-productive DVD marketing!

Mwhahahaha!

Sword for Truth

"In the mood for some mindless sex and violence? Maybe then I'd recommend this one… if I didn't like you." - Madoka

Those Who Hunt Elves II

"When I finished watching this anime, I sighed with relief and found that I was glad that it was finally over. Then I realized that I had wasted so much time that could've gone towards doing anything else." - Eek

And finally, Gundress!

"Worth a look if one wants to witness one of the most monumental failures in anime history." - Kjeldoran
