Well both teams have certainly made a statement these first few days, and I think it's about time the Sharks made it to the finals, but I really wouldn't make cup predictions yet. After all, some teams are only two games deep.

I'm just glad to see that the Devils finally named a captain.

Well it's only a prediction. Im am happy to see that the Devils finally have a single captian it's about time, but they have Scott Stevens skates to fill and that wont be easy.

Making Cup decisions this year is mindnumblingly difficult. So far, the Leafs look faster, the Sens are woefully inconsistent, the Sabres are squeaking wins out, the Habs look great - but can't close games, the whole Atlantic Division is kind of a train wreck, and it's a three way race between a surging ATL, a woeful TB, and an iffy FLA for the Southeast. However, there's that team with the two kids in that division.

In the west... DET and NSH look sllllllooooow. Chicago's caught some kind of fire, Colorado's inconsistent. Those Ducks are scary too. However, the conference will be won by either Calgary, Edmonton, or San Jose. We'll see how SJ holds up against that Albertan defense.

Well San Jose had no problem disposing of the Falmes last night. A lot of people also suggest The Ducks led by Niedermayer and Mr. Lauren Pronger. I hope they dont win. Nashvilles main concern should be Vokun because he has been horrible. The Bruins could make it to the playoffs but I dont see them going too deep, I like some of their players like Bergeron, Boyes and Kessel but they'll be contenders when they finally bring up Tuukka Rask.

Looks like my team have to start from scratch. It's about time, honestly. I'm probably one of the few Michiganians who think it's good the Wings have lost so many of their star players, it is time to start anew.

Not saying they're going to particually well this season, but that's cause they have to get used to all thse changes. It may take a long time, but hey, I'm patient.

As for the rest, I'm pretty much on Kuz's side.

I'm game for seeing Calgary or SJ shine this season.

I would give anything to watch the Devils :(

I can only watch Boston here, and that's only when I can steal the tv from the meatheads who watch football non-stop in the common room.

Only if Mark Smith pulls a Cam Ward because Turco cant play goalie for shit in the playoffs.

You don't know what you're talking about womang >:O

At this point, I can see 20 teams out of 30 going to the Stanley Cup final. Playoffs is a strange creature. Guys like Cam Ward and Fernando Pisani can somehow become more important than Joe Thornton and Daniel Alfredsson. Regular season top dogs Wings and Senators immediately become choking mutts. Therefore, at this point of time, it's impossible for me to guess a final matchup.

On roster, Anaheim, Calgary, San Jose and Ottawa seem to have the best teams. NY Rangers, Minnesota, Nashville and Vancouver have made significant upgrades. In terms of depth, Buffalo and Edmonton cannot be underestimated. I'll be looking for these teams to dominate down the stretch, but you know, anything could happen.

I'd like to point out a few rookies that really impressed me so far:
Anze Kopitar (LA): Didn't know there is Slovenia in hockey. Whatever, he's revitalized a moribund team, filled Demitra's shoes very well and reignited the King's PP.
Matt Carle (SJ): A stud. A very solid D-man in the making. May not deliver bone-crunching hits like Phaneuf, but his mobility suits the Sharks' style of play.
Wojtek Wolski (Col): A lot of responsibility is pressed upon him, too much at this moment IMO, but he's handling it well. He may turn out to be a better player than Tanguay.

I would love to see the Oilers beat the Ducks in the playoffs, with Lupul scoring a game winner against Mr.Lauren Pronger at the Rextall Place.

The 'canes didn't even make the playoffs as defending champs:3huh:

I admit I don't know that much about hockey, but I know enough to know that losing the last 6 or so home playoff games in a row ain't gettin it done, so I think its pretty much lights out for my Stars. Turco seems to always struggle in the playoffs, which is unfortunate considering he's one of the better goalies out there in my estimation. He just doesn't show up when its crunch time.

This time though, it certainly isn't Turco's fault, although you're certainly right about Dallas' previous goaltending woes. It's odd that the Stars offense has well, vanished. 4 goals in 3 games won't win you too much. Never count teams with that much leadership out of it, but the offense is going to have to step up in Game 5. Turco has done everything so far, but even he can't score.

Well the Flames' are actually putting up a fight now. They'll need it, seeing their road games aren't usually in their favor.

Not that I'm complaining. I dig Calgary and all, but well I am from Detroit...so duh. I'm hoping a game 1/game 2 output from the Wings coming this saturday.

Man, I've never seen guys look so dead in the last minute of a game as those guys in TB. Vinny and co. couldn't even skate.

Miikka deserves the Conn Smythe. I don't care if it's the first round, and I don't care if they lost. That man was the Flames in the series.

Man, Burke vs Nonis. No one's even thought about that, but the matchup is there.

The question is: can Luongo compensate for how pounded the Vancouver D is going to get, because I don't see Sopel and Mitchell stopping Teemu, Getzlaf, Penner, Kunitz, Perry, and co.

I wouldn't bet against either the Sens or the Devils.

Its all about the goalie.......
