Once upon a time, an Anime Academy professor had bought several "raw" manga during his single years. He collected them with reckless abandon, ignoring his need to eat and pushing the limits on testing if the "mileage per gallon" on his car was true (by not filling out the tank when it was empty).

Fast forward a few years. When said professor decided to move to a different country, he knew he would have to leave his precious collection behind or risk a significant fine for excess weight in the lugagge. In the end, the professor decided to carefully store them in his parent's storage room for safe keeping.

Alas, the terrible day of September 30th came, and a huge storm hit the city where the professor's parents lived. The storage room got completely flooded and the collection was lost.

Goodbye, complete collection of Ranma 1/2. Goodbye complete collection of Urusei yatsura. Goodbye complete collection of the Mermaid Saga. Goodbye Video Girl Ai, D.N.A.2 and I''s. Goodbye Rumic World and 1/2 Pound Gospel. Goodbye complete collection of Vampire Princess Miyu. Goodbye to Ghost in the Shell, Kimagure Orange Road and Appleseed. Goodbye to the artbooks of Haruhiko Mikimoto, Evangelion, Nadia, Macross technical books.

Goodbye to you all. Thanks for the memories.

So... SC... Are we supposed to celebrate?

Or give a moment of silence?

I'm sorry for your loss... But the "Nelson Muntz" in me is still saying "HA HA!".

P.S: Your parents were ok, right? o_O

Thanks Lin-Lin.

My parents are fine. This storage room was a separate structure from the house and was further down on the hill, which is why it got flooded to begin with (can't beat the force fo gravity!).

Argh. Like a dagger to the heart.

Yet at the same time, stories such as these makes me glad I didn't shell out $200 on that Gundam Action figure. Go me!

I feel your pain D: To this day, I have several hundred dollars worth of manga sitting in Virginia, possibly in the home of someone who now refuses to speak to me, possibly burned into ash and buried in a forest, probably sold to a used book store, or on Ebay ._.;;

Uch! The manga went bye bye? I would keal over dead if I lost such a big collection. I'm glad I don't have a big collection of manga!

I would've cried had I not been listening to David Gilmour's amazing guitar solo. Reading it has made me comfortably numb though, so I can't complain.
