Well it's that time again folks. It's almost October 4th which means...Season 3 of lost begins!
I'm actually even more excited about this season than I was about the second. After the grandiose insanity that was Episode 23 of Season 2, I'm quite curious about two things:
1. Where will The Others take Jack, Sawyer, and Kate?
2. What will Penelope do now that she knows where Desmond is?

I'm just hoping it doesn't come with all the fluctuation in terms of quality that Season 2 came with. At a few points it started feeling more like a drama just set on an island than a story about a bunch of people stranded on an island and trying to find a way off.
Still, I really enjoy the show, and look forward to this next season.

The problem is the way they've been forced to extend Lost due to it's high popularity. A similar thing happened to Prison Break if I remember..
Lets hope that they learn their lesson and let the show run it's course properly rather that artificially extending it. I'd rather have a Twin Peaks over an X-Files.

I have a love-hate relationship with Lost. On the one hand, I love the amount of background and complexity they give the characters and how the story demands your weekly attention, else you lose it completely. On the other hand, I hate the snail's pace that dominated most of Season 2 and the fact that we're having question upon question piled on us, with only few answers at this stage. It is one of the few American TV shows that I'll watch religiously, though... I'm really addicted, but it has shown me a lot of reasons to consider it highly as a TV show.
Anyway, since Season 3 won't start in Australia until February, this is the last time you'll see me in this thread, so I can avoid spoilers. I don't want to read anything that could possibly dampen the impact of any plot twist in the new season, no matter how small it may be.

I couldn't agree more! Lost's first season was pretty catchy! I absolutely loved it! The second season managed to catch me again, however I felt that "let's-add-some-silly-stuff-to-prolong-the-show-thing" going on... I really hope the third season follows a different path!

I don't think it is following a different path. The last new episode which was all about Desi didn't do much for me in way of the main story and now they're starting to tell 'The Others'' stories as well. Yeah, it's nice to have a clue about them, but c'mon, let's get on with it. They should have scheduled this to have a definite run and not one contingent upon contract renewal between seasons. My interest in the characters while they string along the mystery of the island will only hold for so long and it's starting to weaken. I just want answers already.

They keep bringing on these great writers who I look forward to seeing episodes from but the story just doesn't feel like it's going anywhere. I'm pretty sure season 3's going to be my last, it's like a not-fun X-Files with mostly lame characters. "THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE" and I'm really not interested enough to watch for very much longer to get it.

Yeah, they haven't actually extended it at all.
The writers were commited to a long term project when they started, and I think one of them said that they had enough material and ideas for five odd years.

This emotion I feel for the end of season three can only be expressed in bold caps:
IF THE NEXT SEASON STARTS WITH THEM TRYING TO GET BACK ONTO THE ISLAND, I WILL GET ANGRY ENOUGH TO PUNCH A WHOLE HERD OF FLUFFY KITTENS.

It would have been so much cooler if Naomi's crew really had killed all of the islanders.

Yeah, I don't see why he couldn't leave the room then shut the door behind him. I mean, he had time to run over there and shut it/lock it. I know my gut reaction anyway would have been to make sure I was on the other side of that door... Unless, of course, I'm remembering the room filling with water slower than it did.

The producers just announced they would start producing 90 second mini episodes untill the new season starts. Not sure how many or how often they will appear but hey something to tide us over.
