Okay, this is probably one of the dumbest threads ever. Well, I hope it isn't, but I do fully understand if this thread gets locked or deleted.
So basically, I went and spent $21 on the first two mangas of Kare Kano. I haven't started reading them yet, but I have heard so darn much about them, I just couldn't help myself. Aside from that, the comic store near my house only carries the most popular mangas. They mostly have just Inuyasha, Naruto, and Rurouni Kenshin.
Kare Kano was the only romantic comedy manga they carried. And, although I won't tell anyone in real life, it is unlikely that anyone I know is on this forum. So I will say this- I like romantic comedies... :o
So, any comments? I have no money left, so it better be good... haha. Tell me what I have in store for me.

It's great. Romantic comedy is one aspect of it, sure, but it's more about the characters themselves really, and what they go through. It focuses mostly on the main pair, but as you keep reading, you'll find that each of the supporting characters gets their own time in the spotlight. In this way, each and every character is unique and has a background that we can relate to the way they are now.
It gets kind of soap opera-y near the end, but not really in a bad way. By that point you really care about the characters and what's happening to them.

I would say it's a must buy for anyone who likes romantic comedies. It's well worth the money.

Amen it is well worth it if you like romantic comedies and in my case I only got to wait until December for the final manga to come out to see how they wrap everything up.

I'd definitely say it's worth buying and reading. The characters are interesting and have actual growth and depth to them, including the often neglected in other titles Side characters. The situations are interesting and will keep you hooked. Definitely go for it.

Haha, thanks for the comments.
Maybe it would just be easier to ask this- are there any high-school romantic comidies better than Kare Kano? :D

Haha, thanks for the comments.
Maybe it would just be easier to ask this- are there any high-school romantic comidies better than Kare Kano? :DThere are few romantic comedies that come to mind that are better than it even once you remove the requirement that they be based in a high school. As far as your original question goes, though, I can't think of any better High School romantic comedies off the top of my head.

Happy Hustle High. Though I'm not quite sure if I was the only one that found it funny. Oh! And definetely Hana-Kimi or For You In Full Blossom.

Actually, I think there is one. Perhaps not better, but certainly on the same level. It's called Love Roma, by Minoru Toyoda. It is four volumes long and is currently being released in the US by Del Rey. It has all the oddities of dating someone for the first time, without all the obligatory shoujo melodrama that characterized plenty of the later volumes in Kare Kano.
Another one that you could be interested in is Land of the Blindfolded/Invisible World/Mekakushi no Kuni, by Sakura Tsukuba, it's nine volumes long. It is not the most ground-breaking shoujo romantic comedy that takes place in high school, but it is still very very good in its own way. All the main characters are likable and their relationships and quirks felt believable to me. Perhaps that's why I liked it more than anything else, though the slight supernatural twist was handled well too. Paradise Kiss also takes place in high school, but the way certain subjects are dealt with makes it obvious that it is targeted to a different audience than Kare Kano. It is completely worth it, though.
And if you ever feel like you had enough with high school romantic comedies then there will always be wonders such as Nodame Cantabile, Honey & Clover, Maison Ikkoku, Living Game and many many others to read.

Living Game is such an incredible manga. I wish someone would publish it in the States.

Hmm. I'd say try W-Juliet and Hanazakari no Kimitachi he [Hana-Kimi]. If you like romantic comedies, those would be right up your alley.

He is trying it. He already has the manga, just no time to read them yet.
...Good God, your signature is huge. It needs a loli-treatment, stat. o_o
