Who wants to build a robot?

You guys have some ideas for a robot design? Post your thoughts and we'll all build one (or you can solo one too).

My ideas: It should be made from beer cans (at least in the outer armor layer), with Windows XP (or possibly Linux) installed in the computer system for easy usage. Maybe have a photon cannon on the top of its head, and a side compartment from the cockpit for survivors who complain during rescue. Also, an improved 5.1 sound system, with at least an LCD interface. And of course, a rack for toilet paper in case you're stranded!

Obviously I'm no technician, but these were some prototype ideas.

Feel free to give me some of your technological babble! Or make this idea more creative than it is now!

And here I was hoping to get away from my worries by visiting AA... "wants" to build a robot? I sure would want something like a real Gundam, but as things are going now (we have a robotics project at school), I'm going to stick to programming stuff, not building them, thank you.

You could use this as study, but then, you're only into programming things. Maybe you could make the CPU or something.

Although, AA's your sanctuary, and for me it's a playground. Guess we're like Yin and Yang...

I wanna see Bush get the Gundam Heavy Arms licensed, then he'd build it and use a nuclear reactor core. He'll send it to Iraq where it will shoot down everyone, then when the bullets run out, it'll be a sitting duck and a Boeing 757 will crash down on it and Iraq will be uninhabitable for a century.

lol! WWIII with Gundams! Brilliant! Of course Bush would have to play stupid (he's a pro at it) and let his henchmen handle the details (or get Trowa next time). I'd love to see something that hilarious (complete with the nuclear reactor core!).

Plutonium Boy is powered by love (and plutonium!), which means I have no choice but to hug him and make him feel better about protecting the world, damaging me in the process. Agh! I taste like plutonium!

Note: Plutonium Boy also wears huge boots to stomp villians with.

I should get back to work on my Beer Can Robot now...

Ah! Robots! Just put servo motors in anything and build/program the controller and you've got one. That's pracitically what we did back in my university days.

Once you have a skeleton with servo joints, the frame can be anything. Be that card board, cheeze cake, or plastic skin with life-like texture. Actually, go with teh fake skin and make aeroshadow something. He seems lonely :D.

I read the title of this thread, and expected it to be something serious. I don't know why I keep fooling myself liek that.

Anyway, I've never built a robot. I did a Lego Mindstorms project once for an IEEE contest, but that doesn't count. This semester, however, I have a semester-long project to build a professor. I still have no idea what that means.

lol! Robots with Boots people! We need boots! NausicaaBoy can drink the booze for a robot made of cans, and I'll install a refridgeration unit for the remaining stock. Underwear would also have to be essential (goes with the toilet paper people) for long journeys. A cardboard box would be a budgetary solution, should we run out of expenses.

Dang, better make sure not to give any animals special abilities with modern robotics Kyubi-chan, the could turn on us!

And yes, we could even make our own Tachikomas possibly if we keep this up! Good thinking Raven!

However, it looks like Tyrdium has his own robot blueprint to dish out, interesting...does it have an A$$ Cannon?

For the record: it's ok to post seriously about robot design if you're into it, but I have no significant knowledge to build my own anytime soon. Basically, don't let me design a robot to save the world, maybe one for entering con folks or delivering pizza.
