Today marks day one of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan (or tomorrow for some people depending on their lunar calendar) . From sunrise to sunset, Muslims do not eat or drink (including water.) Following this month of fasting, we have a holiday known as Eid-Al-Fitr, which is simple terms is like christmas, we exchange gifts and what not. Though the real celebration is for the first four pillars of Islam:

1.) Belief in Allah and Prophet Mohamed is his Messenger
2.) Pray 5 times a day
3.) Zakat (Give money to the poor)
4.) Fast During the month of Ramadan.

We have a fifth pillar that states if we have the financial means to make pilgrimage to Hajj which is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. This year my family is performing this in December. We celebrate this pillar along with the other four in Eid ul-Adha.

so yeah i was bored, and figured i'd inform you guys about the starting of Ramadan and a little information on what it all means.

Assalammualaikum to my fellow Muslim brothers. I wish all Muslims a happy and safe month of Ramadan. I think there are alot more other things that Muslims are prohibited from doing during Ramadan, and that includes no cursing, getting injured, vomiting, and others. If this were to happen, your fasting will be revoked or some sort.

Peace be upon you, everyone :hugyou: .

I was taught that bleeding is forbidden during the fasting month, to be specific. If you were to bleed by intention or accident, your fasting is broken unconditionally. Basically, it's a month when Muslims have to extra good - which automatically means NO PORN, smoking, wearing suggestable clothing or illicit activities whatsoever.

Just to add to the idea of Muslim fasting for the fellow AA members' curiosity - fasting should only be for the fit and healthy. If one is sick or terminally-ill, the person should not fast. Almighty Allah encourages fasting for all Muslims, but not up to the point of endangering one's own life.
