Hmmm... it is kind of early to tell exactly how good this anime will be, but even though it relies on a comedy a bit more, it gives me some sort of Gungrave vibe... at least in the sense that it will be a story about friendships torn apart, lost love and redemption through protection of those left behind.
I'm a little skeptical as to how effective the story can be given that this is a 12 episode series, and stories with that level of complexity usually are better suited for 24+ episodes. Oh well... we will have to wait and see.

I've only seen a handful of series that did the trick with just as many (or possibly less) episodes to get across a certain dramatic element. My prime example was always Gunbuster: for six episodes I followed the lead Noriko across her drama, and it didn't skimp out on anything important within its timeframe (much to my shock), as it felt stronger nearing its climax. Also, it had plenty of scientific theories to keep one's mind quite occupied, sure puts the "science" in science-fiction when you think about it. But that's just me, and I suppose it's safe to say OAVs are dead in this day and age, R.I.P. dear friend!
Probably my funniest example with a 13 episode TV series still remains Serial Experiements Lain, I hated that show so much after four episodes, then I liked it after seeing the last one (and I mean the last episode).
But hey, if it ain't Berserk, it can't be too heartbreaking! Y'know!?

Black Blood Brothers looks interesting. What's with the influx of vampire oriented animes though?

What a silly looking hat.
Episode one was okay. Opening theme is terrible, but the ending by Loveholic is beautiful. But did anyone catch if the ED was Korean or something? I'm pretty sure Loveholic is a Korean group and, when I was paying attention, the words didn't sound Japanese, but I don't know the language to judge for certain. Anyway... just curious.
As to the story itself, well, we don't really know yet. A bunch of fighting and conflicts, both social and personal, were hinted but that was it. Don't really even know the characters yet, especially with the first ten or so minutes being flashback.
The comedy "relief" was out of place and annoying, but what would anime be without annoying and out of place comedy? And other than the ED theme, I didn't like any of the music; most of it was just hokey. I'll see where this goes though.

It is indeed Korean + some English thrown in there.

Episode 2.
This show is so generic. From the little I've gathered, though, it might actually be an interesting story. If only I didn't have to stay tuned to actually find out. If only the opening episodes weren't so lackluster. If only all my curiosity didn't stem from just the ending credits sequence. I must know about silly-hat guy's past! It just sucks they made it so cheaply with boring character designs and horrid music (minus the ED theme). It could have been really cool. Why can't they ever do vampires right! :/

I saw the first episode. I wasn't that impressed, but I didn't not like it. Vampire shows are hard to judge, but your right it's also a comedy. I don't know if I should keep watching or not.

I couldn't sit all the way through episode 1. It just seemed ridiculous - the action lacked any feel of tension or struggle, the main character just chopped up cannon fodder until the "boss" showed up for a lackluster and inconclusive fight. That was about when I turned it off and tried to forget about it. Even for a first episode it felt like a waste of time - it failed to introduce anything significant, just make some hints and provide pointless and badly executed action sequences.
I'll check back in a few weeks to see if it's worth going back to after episode 4 or 5 has been seen.

This show's title sounds racist. Or maybe it's the blood that's black.

Elfen Lied got pretty deep pretty quickly with only 13 episodes. It just skimps on the ending... err.. what ending?
And Lain is NOT a good example of 13 episodes put to good use. More like a manic-depressive Alice in Wonderland becomes a Cyber junkie. You get a cookie if you can tell me what actually happens or develops or gets solved throughout any of that series.

Black blood= vampire.
Red blood= human.
Brothers= main character (silly-hat guy) and his little brother; they are both vamps, hence the title.
The only discrimination in this story appears to be between different vampire bloodlines. The main characters are apparently from a very old and powerful vampire bloodline and, for whatever reason that hasn't been revealed yet, are shunned by other vampires. Not completely sure what larger role the humans will play, but they're there shooting at vamps sometimes.

I'm gonna watch the 2nd episode I decided and then see what I think. I think you have to watch more than one episode to judge a show, most of the time.

I just dont know yet - and I have to agree with sound - 12 eppies seems too little time to cover such a complex story. I think we might be left a little dissapointed at the end of the series.
That said I think this vanime (my new word for all the vampire animes coming out) has some potential to be an interest and engaging ride
At first I thought this was going to be a generic vampire anime with lots of action. After watching the first 3 episodes nothing has changed other than I am getting hooked into watching this. If anything the action is well done. I am actually glad this is only 12 episodes though, not sure if i would want to watch anymore than that. Looks like I found my guilty pleasure for the fall season.

I just gave up on this one. There are plenty of other interesting shows out there.
