Just heard that there's an anime series in the works for Buso Renkin, Nobuhiro Watsuki's latest work, that's due to premier next month. I'm actually looking forward to it, even though the Fullmetal Alchemist fan in the back of my head is mad at me for it (He's constantly saying that it's just a rip-off of FMA, but I'm not listening). Does anyone have anymore information on this anime?
I knew there was a reason I loved ANN...

Though, I haven't heard anything personally.

I agree. That's how I found out about it initially. I was just hoping that someone had info outside of what ANN had. Thanks anyway. ^_^

Just episode 1 to this. It reminds me much more of Shakugan no Shana than Fullmetal Alchemist, at this stage at least.

Not a bad opening episode. Never much of a fun of "OMGZ! I suddenly have powers!" plots, but the episode was not a failure, so, we'll just have to wait and see.

Pretty generic stuff... unexiting, mediocre character designs, mediocre music, mediocre and predictable plot.

Really? Darn. I was hoping for some XEBEC goodness.

Oh, I have to say I was really unimpressed about the way that Tokiko reveals the shocking truth of the bad guys, then says "now you know, so go home," and then is surprised when he doesn't want to.
"There are monsters in this city that eat people, have already killed you once, and just tried to eat your sister. And you have superpowers because of how I saved you. Now go live a normal life, I'm going to go fight them."
What does she expect, him to just say "Oh, okay, good luck with that. I was planning on munching potato chips and watching Naruto tonight anyway. And thanks for the super powers, they'll come in handy in PE class. See you around."?
I mean, it's better than Ikari "I don't want to pilot unit 01 but this time I guess I have to" Shinji, but it's still ridiculous.

I'll have to go with y'all on this so far. Just watched episode 1, and I'm surprisingly unimpressed. The only good thing that stands out is the soundtrack. While not amazing, it's still all right. Hopefully, things will turn around. I've still got some hope in this series yet.

I haven't seen the anime but I do have one volume of the manga. *sigh* Coming from the creator of Ruroni Kenshin, I thought I would have enjoyed it. I still haven't read it all. It has been one of the few series I will not read. It too reminded me of FMA and I felt like the characters were a spin-off of Ruroni Kenshin characters. it just seemed average and a "seen this already" story. But that's only the first volume. Maybe I should try the anime.

There are several things that kinda annoyed me after watching 2 episodes:
Annoyance #1: the "scar" on Tokiko's face (we know u created Kenshin, no need for a reminder)
Annoyance #2: the comedy was not too overboard, but the serious stuff definitely was. Of course having human eaten by monsters should not be treated lightheartedly, but is it necessary to be so dramatic?
I'll watch it for old Kenshin's sake but this series has great potential to reach my limits.

Maybe this show is intended as a parody? It's certainly full of goofy cliches...
