The series was interesting until the middle, having afterwards starting to be confusing. There were too many “dead” episodes, more precisely, one with a recapitulation, two with dreams and the final two with the introspection. These episodes removed a lot of rhythm to the story, being also needless. The introspective part would have been enough with only one episode. On the other side, the plot, which until the middle of the series remained secondary (more precisely the role of the Angels, Seele and Nerv), was not adequately explained in the final episodes, with the story remaining somewhat confusing.

In what concerns characters, Misato was by far the soul of the series. A pity that she died. Asuka was also a very interesting character. Without them, the series wouldn’t have lasted more than a few episodes, since the other characters were either too “slow” or did not have enough charisma. Shinji was too dull; there was too much attention to his psychological problems. Finally, Rei was a waste: she was simply too “slow” and for that Shinji was already enough. Couldn’t the director have invented a different psychological problem for Rei? A pity that she didn’t look like as in ep. 26, when she is running to the school with a toast in her mouth. Those brief seconds showed her with a completely different personality and a very interesting one, I must say. Too bad that that was not the initial option.

The movie “End of Evangelion” was needless, being more of the same. Its first part, as in ep. 24, had a dramatic combat and the second part, as in eps. 25 and 26, an introspection by Shinji. Actually, I didn’t understand why Shinji tried to strangle Asuka in the end. Could someone please explain me why?

To sum up, an interesting story, but which could have been better made.
