This was the headnews in all the japanese newspaper today, finally a prince that can continue with the royal family legacy has been born, after so many complications and problems that obligated the goberment in japan make discussions about the necessity of changing the laws of sucesions. The son of princess kiko and the prince akishino fumihito has the small obligation of carring the legacy of this really important family, not only for japan, but for the world.

But now, to think about it, what was the big issue with having a women as the succesor, in the history of japan, this has happen before. Maybe, the japanese culture has always been marked with some sexism, but i dont think this should carry on.

Opinions anyone ?¿

I think the entire idea of royalty is stupid.

That said, if you're going to have royalty then it's slightly less stupid to have one that only accepts male rulers/figureheads. You never know the role a female can have in shaping the country.

Catherine the Great
Elizabeth I
Cleopatra
Victoria

As for Japan, all their female Emperors predate the Meiji Constitution and the Japanese Constitution. Even though the birth of a male heir means changing the law is no longer needed, it should be done anyways.

He won't be emperor for anither 60 years and by then I would be long gone. I think Kiko went through a lot of pressure to have a son. I wouldn't doubt
a) Artificial insemination from the latest technology of inseminationology
b) She didn't give birth but the baby is Fumihito's love child
c) They created a super baby just like Arnold in Twins or
d) They picked up a baby at random from the hospital

I guess there is a possiblity that Kiko and Fumihito had a child the normal way but that would just be boring!

That may be because an idiot suggested that women get the surnames of their husbands when they get married.
