is there anybody, anybody at all, that likes this show?!?
this show is the worst i have ever seen. bobobo made more sense than this thing. then it has bad animation. normally an anime can redeem bad animation with a good story or well written jokes. This falls miserably short in all the categories. same with teknoman blade but at least TB has lines so silly you can laugh at them. this rarely has even that.

i actually liked the show. granted, it's not the greatest show on earth, but it passes for me because of shin chan's humor and outlook regarding the adults in his life by saying things as he sees it.

Shin-chan is not a series to be taken very seriously. Personally, I think even the art was supposed to be some type of subtle joke, regardless, this show leaves me in stiches each episode.

I may be a bit premature in saying this, because it seems like only the first episode has aired, but why is it that everytime some kind of wacky, surreal, against-the-grain anime hits US television, people feel the need to start threads to relentlessly bitch about it? It happened with Milk-chan, it happened with Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, now it's happening with Shin-chan. Why do some of you get so worked up over these shows? They're not meant to be taken seriously - they're pretty inconsequential. Stop complaining and watch shows you do like. I'm glad that so far more people seem to be enjoying it rather than not, mainly because it means less boring posts of people complaining about how much it "sucks", which can get pretty tedious for those who haven't seen the show and don't have Adult Swim.

America isn't the bitchfactory. People of every nation, creed, color, penis size, and hair color complain about things. People who like guitars, can go onto guitar forums and compain about shitty guitars and performances. And people who like anime, go onto anime forums and complain about shitty anime they have seen recentlly without YOU jumping down their throat.
Jeeze, shoot a man for having an opinion why don't you!

I've already replied to this over on IRC, but I might as well repeat myself here for posterity >_>
I'm not shooting people for having an opinion per se (well, that's kind of what I'm doing, I'm an arsehole), I'm just commenting on how people always seem to complain when surreal/offbeat anime shows coming on US television. I'm just curious as to why this is and why in the past people make such a big deal over it. Is it because they're actually bad? I dunno, even the much-lambasted Milk-chan had its followers. Would people rather see more regular shows rather than super-wacky comedy shows? The only one people really seemed to dig on a larger scale was FLCL, the rest have been comparitive failures. So...what's the problem? Quite a big one if someone wants to start a new thread on the matter. Is it because these shows are bad regardless of how odd they are? I'm curious.
EDIT: Talking with DH more, we agreed that the reason these shows aren't recieved so well is because the majority of people who watch anime on Adult Swim watch the channel for shows like FMA, Eureka Seven and GITS SAC, not for random comedy shows, which is why they're relatively unpopular. Hopefully Shin-chan catches on a bit more so I don't have to look at everyone complaining. >_>
If I remember correctly Super Milk Chan aired on Adult Swim's Sunday line up which featured off beat animation shows, so it would be fitting to have that show on Sundays, I don't know when Shin chan airs but if it is Sunday then it would fit fine.
People you should know that Shin chan's target audience is children in elementary school. Kids are not so picky about animation style and love the toilet humor.

I personally thought Shin Chan was hilarious! (if you read the my thread on it that Tremolo posted a link too, thank you again Tremolo for doing so). I understand the show is not for everyone, and thats fine. I love Cromartie High, Ebichu, Excel Saga, and bobobobo-bo-bobo as well but not everyone is going to agree with me that they're hilarious.
Maybe its because people don't understand that shows like Shin Chan and other wacky comedy anime are supposed to be dumb and have no point to them, but then again i guess its comes down to opinion.
btw i never really liked Milk-Chan! XD
