Ive just got back from my Nans and we went in a book shop and they had a whole section of Mangas and I got this one called Alichino and I wondered if anyone else has read it and if they want to talk about it.

Its an decent story line - fairly original. I like the twists of the plot and the symbolism. Really I think its a fantastic manga - good choice MC:graduate:

I didn't really see a thick plot and, IMO, I thought it SOUNDED more cool than it actually was.

Alichino=HUGE ART INSPIRATION. That has got to be some of the most beautiful art ever! It's such a shame it never got past three volumes because the magazine it was being published in whent out of business or something crappy like that.

More likely, the creator died from being overworked.
Joking.... but can you imagine trying to put out artwork like that on a consistent basis?
I agree with you on the comment about the art. Gorgeous gothic art, more detailed than I've ever seen any manga art. Years ago, I bought the Japanese version without being able to read anything that was going on, simply because the artwork is so beautiful to look at. Since then, even though I can understand a bit of Japanese, I still haven't bothered reading any of the series in depth. I've got the gist of it, but the story isn't why I bought that one at all.
Plus, the Japanese version is so much better quality than the NA release.

First few pages were so stunningly pretty and gorgeous. But then, something told me that these looked terribly like plastic dolls with very little facial expressions. Not very good at capturing emotions I thought, I tossed it aside and went to catch upto my class. But since people speak so highly of it, perhaps I've been bit unfair, maybe I'll try it again sometime.

Well they do look like that, they kind of look like that doll thats the craze in Japan, But it is a very cool book so it would be a good Idea to read it again.

I plan on borrowing the second and third volumes from a friend. Yes, the second and third. I won't know what's going on and my friend doesn't have the first volume. Does anyone know where I can find a summary of the first volume?Or will there be one included in the second volume?

well the blurb on the back of the book says:
Beautiful creatures called Alichino grant wishes to those in need-but at a price! A young lady searching for an Alichino wants to bring her brother back to life. She meets Tugiri, a handsome young man who she thinks is an Alichino. Tsugiri turns out to be a mere mortal, but he does have a mysterious connection with these rare creatures-a connection that will bring danger to those around him.
But this is only the brief version of the briefer version of the brief version. I don't know if it has a catch up in vol.2 but in vol.1 it has a preveiw of vol.2 so you might be in luck.
