It's here! In the end, these barely matter for anything but fun since the most popular shows in Spring were like completely ignored during preview time... (Haruhi, Higurashi) Still!
Fall 2006 (http://fansub.andrewlb.com/pukiwiki.php?Fall%202006)
Depressingly, it's not the second season of Genshiken that is coming out this fall, but actually more Kujibiki Unbalance instead... X_X I might be able to enjoy it if all the episodes have the mindless hilarity factor of the second episode, though.
Then, there's the Death Note anime. There's a lot of hype here since apparently the manga is totally freaking awesome. I do like the premise, and hype isn't bad (not good either), so I'll definitely check this out.
Kanon is being remade. It's Kyoto Animation, so that's nice, right? I heard dissenting opinions about the original Kanon anime, and I'm also not much of a harem fan... but I am a fan of visual novels.
Jigoku Shoujo and Ayakashi are both getting sequels. I probably won't watch them, so this is for whoever is interested.
EDIT: Actually, Ayakashi isn't getting a sequel.
Hataraki Man has an odd premise. I thought I'd point this show out since AA really seems to love that mature drama type stuff that I can only some of the time.
Then there's a lot of shows that I have no idea what they are about.
Thoughts?

Quite a good looking season overall; I'll certainly be giving the first episodes of a few of 'em a look.
Trem's To-Watch List:
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society
Black Blood Brothers
Taiyo no Mokushiroku - A Spirit of the Sun
D.Gray-man (great manga)
Death Note (great manga >_>)
Tenpo Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi (not a second series of Ayakashi, a whole new series from Bones in the big Saturday evening slot inhabited previously by both Gundam SEED series, FMA and now Blood+)
Red Garden
Katekyo Hitman REBORN!
Busou Renkin
Hataraki Man
Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto
CODE GEASS Lelcouch of the Rebellion
Freedom
EDIT:
Afro Samurai
Black & White (thanks for the reminder there, Rove, I've been looking forward to this for ages)
Hmm, more than a few in fact. >_>

The two I plan to follow are Death Note and D-Gray Man. I read the Death Note manga and think it is overrated but I don't want to miss out on all the discussions that will be going on about it. I also have read a few chapters of the D-Gray Man manga and think it will be a fun anime. Of course I'll probably end up watching a few more series based on other people raving about them.

Death Note has a lot to live up to.
Up until chapter 58, the manga was top-notch, even if it steadily declined after that.
Looking forward to that.

I plan to watch Death Note, and that is pretty much it. The other anime listed may be worth watching, but for now I'm just going to put that off. I'm still waiting for some manga titles to still be turned into anime...I can hope can't I?

This season is looking good, with Death Note and D.Gray-Man on their way. Black Blood Brothers looks to be interesting, same with CODE GEASS.
If anything, I will probably follow Kujibiki Unbalanced faithfully because of my love of Genshiken.
I wish this was one of those pages where they actually tell you a bit about the show >_>; Links to official websites are nice, but not being able to read Japanese, I can't really tell what any of these shows are like, and it seems that unless someone already knows something about he name, they're lost ._.;
That being said, more GITS:SAC looks promising and Cresent Love caught my eye for some unknown reason, as did Ayakashi Ayashi. Never finished Jigoku Shoujo, but when I do, and if I like it, I may end up picking the sequel. All of that I figured out mostly my clicking random links >_>; Any and all shows I choose to pick up won't be decided on until I can read a summary or see a first episode.
I do hope to actually watch some aniems this fall, though ;_; I need to keep with the times.

I think I'm just going to do that thing where I watched all the shows that get subbed. Hopefully I won't end up dropping any because my external dies this time around. x.x
Particularly looking forward to Yamato Nadesico 7 Change, because I like the manga, and Ayakashi Ayashi, because Bones is consistent win.
Shows I'm interested in that may or may not ever get released or at least fansubbed. Divided by the month they should start:
August
Maihime (not related at all with the Sunrise Mai Hime), Joseito, Fantascope Tylostoma, Zakuro Yashiki La Grenadiere, Yo Shomei Bijutsukan LINE, Gendai Kibunroku Kaii Monogatari, Neko Machi, Highway Jenny -> All of these are one-shot experimental OVAs produced by Toei and independent groups. :Link: (http://www.ganime.jp/)
Kemonozume
Chevalier D'Eon
Riri to Kaeru to (Otouto) -> Winner of the 4th Animax Grand Prix award.
Kikoushi Enma -> Remake Go Nagai's classic Dororon Enma-kun sans the humour.
September
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society -> Obligatory.
Silk Road Shounen Yuuto
Taiyo no Mokushiroku - A Spirit of the Sun -> Based on a Kaiji Kawaguchi manga, that's all I need to know.
October
Bartender ->An anime about a bartender, how can that not be awesome?!
Ghost Hunt -> Shoujo ghost hunting stories.
Red Garden -> This one sounds amazing.
Pumpkin Scissors
Death Note -> I want to see how they pull off the talking heads syndrome.
Ginga Tetsudou Monogatari II -> I still can't believe that there's going to be a second season of Galaxy Railways. Not terribly excited about this one.
Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto -> The promotional image sold me.
Tempouibun Ayakashiayashi -> Bones new show, again, promotional image caught my eye.
Hataraki Man -> Based on the manga by Moyoco Anno! (aka Hideaki Anno's wife) Go Go Josei stuff!
Freedom -> New Katsuhiro Otomo project, where he is involved in pretty much everything except actually directing it, meaning this one could actually be good!
November
Tokyo Tribe 2
Afro Samurai
December
Tekkon Kinkreet -> aka Taiyo Matsumoto's Black & White + Studio 4C = AWESOME.
To all of this, when will Gonzo release Mardock Scramble?! And why oh why are there so many eroge-to-anime adaptations, WHY?! (I know the answer, because they sell well to socially inept otakus, I'm just venting).

Unbalance OVA was actually quite entertaining, so it may be worth a shot. Still, I'd much prefer another (much needed) season of Genshiken.
Death Note and D-Gray Man are on the top of the list. As well as Kannon... Ugh... Never really liked the original anime, but it's KyoAni! Damn it! Can't resist them!
Speaking of which, anyone knows which studio is doing Death Note? Anyone who has seen Fumoffu may remember seeing a cameo of Death Note's characters in the show. If KyoAni really does do this show, that will be something to look out for. Death Note is way too dialogue intensive, and the only studio I know of that can pull it off visually would be KyoAni.
Edit: Oh right, and Rozen Maiden OVA

I'll probably at least check out the first few episodes of Death Note, since I'm hearing so many good things about it, and it seems to be one of the most popular anime of the fall. And I'll probably catch an episode or two of Afro Samurai, just to see how stupid it is (or if it will actually surprise me and keep me hooked). Just because the character is voiced by Samuel L. Jackson does not immediately make it will be a big hit. But who knows? It could be good.

Studio Madhouse. I'm actually curious about how many episodes this one is going to be. Since the manga was quite short (by Shounen Jump standards) I think it could work well in the 24-26 episodes range, but they could stretch it to the 50-52 area if they decided to add either filler or new characters along the way.

Stuff like Nekojiru and Dead Leaves. Mostly because interesting stuff is actually entertaining instead of boring, and because I can learn something from the shows to put into my own work. Besides, both of the above shows work quite well while drunk and/ or talking to your mom/ aunt/ other relative.

I'm gonna keep my eye on titles like Death Note (wonderful manga, I might add) and Ayakashi Ayashi. However, GITS: SAC (SSS) is top of my charts since I've anticipated it since early this year :p ... plus, I've always been a GITS fan myself.

Absolutely nothing looks that interesting. But I'll look at a few things.
Death Note - because of all the hype.
Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto - because the picture at anidb looks interesting
Hataraki Man - ditto
Pocket Monsters: Diamond and Pearl - GOTTA CATCH EM ALL

If a sub gets released of the movie, I'll watch it. If it doesn't, I'll wait for the official release and buy it. I'd be buying it anyway, so it's not much of a problem either way. >_> I just hope Bandai get it out quickly.

It's probably going to be a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing, on either side of the "debate" about downloading media. I'll put debate in quotes because probably everything that can be said about it already has been and most people probably won't ever change their minds about it.
Personally, if there's a fansub, I'll watch it. If it's good and I want to rewatch it, I'll probably buy the DVD, if it's not, I won't. I'm not going to reward producers for making crap, and I'm not going to reward Bandai for waving their legal penis around either.
If they'd show things on TV or in theatres we could make an informed decision about buying the DVD - is it good? We'd know, because for the price of our cable bill or a movie ticket, we'd have seen it. Instead, American anime distributors are frequently asking us to buy shows on DVD without really having a decent idea of whether or not they are any good because they're never broadcast on a channel most people get, or are broadcast well after their DVD release. That's asking a lot compared to free downloads.

Hmmmm, so Madhouse is doing NANA and Death Note? That's two huge projects with a lot of expectations. Are they over-stretching themselves a bit?
Well, their hits are absolute hits like Monster, which was a huge project as well. But Death Note will be a challenge to any studio.

Studio Madhouse have entertaining titles to offer us on numerous occassions - BECK, Black Lagoon, Gungrave, Monster, Nana... which is why many of them are my all-time favorites. I really hope Death Note will a huge hit :hyper:
loner: I'm crossing my fingers that they won't. I'm hoping that Nana doesn't go over-budget and have its ending compromised like NGE of Gainax.

I will most definitly check out Death Note, the other animes don't seem that intresting to me.
I am watching what Tremolo and Rove are watching. I will watch Kanon just because I loved the original but I wonder if it will be as gut wrenching knowing the story already.

Madhouse is no stranger to working with several shows all at once. They don't have just Nana and Death Note on their plate, they are currently working in Kemono Zume, Otogi-Jushi Akazukin, Saiunkoku Monogatari, Strawberry Panic!; recently finished Black Lagoon (and must already be working on the second season), Yume Tsukai, Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo, Paprika; and have the second Ninja Scroll movie, Tokyo Tribe 2 and Death Note in their pre-production line.

You forgot Red Line.
On a side note, why didnt' anyone mention more about a Black and White anime?! I'm assuming this is based off the manga that Viz valiantly ran in PULP ages ago.

I've been watching Saiunkoku and looked up a bit on Strawberry Panic! Saiunkoku definitely could do with much better animation while I heard lots of complaints on that front about Strawberry Panic as well. They may be a huge studio, but they need to really know their limits.

I agree with that. I'd have to go on mainly art style to pique my interest, and those online translators can come up with some amusing results that make less sense than Japanese script.......the biggest problem is trying to figure out airing dates.
Having said that, What has interested my so far:
Kanon. I've heard things about the original, but I'd haven't seen it. It sounds like my kind of show, though. KyoAni is doing it as well, which is a big drawcard. I've loved their work to date, here's to hoping they can keep up the quality.
Bartender. It's about a bartender, what's not to be interested in? I haven't heard of a show about a bartender before......besides, I have fostered the idea of taking a bartenders course at TAFE, and still might...
I'll be checking out the Rozen Maiden OVA. I enjoyed the TV series, but perhaps the OVA will bring the closure the series lacked.
I'm also with Trem on the GitS SAC:SSS issue. If there is a fansub, then I will procure and watch. If there isn't, then I will buy it anyway. I'm somewhat of a GitS SAC fan. I would hope that a DVD release would be hot on the heels of the TV release, seeing as it's pre-licenced and all, I would be annoyed if Bandai delay it.
as for the others, well, I haven't heard of them, so I will keep an eye on the boards to see if it looks like something I'd be interested in.
Currently, the only one I am watching for sure is Kanon, for 2 reasons:
1) I have heard many good things about it from viewers that have seen the original
2) It's done by KyotoAni.
Though I am sure I will pick up more series as they start airing and people start recommending them.

I've seen the preview to the upcoming Kanon series. I'd have to say that I like the look of it, and some of the comedic aspects shown look to be rather amusing.
I wasn't able to quite grasp the direction the story might go, whether it's a 'who am I' type thing or not, but I think I will be watching this one for sure.

Mucho interested:
Black Lagoon: Second Barrage - I absolutely loved the first season, so, naturally, I'll be eagerly awaiting new episodes.
Death Note - I'm not totally up to date on the manga, but I've liked what I read so far. I'm interested in seeing how this relatively dialogue heavy manga will translate to the screen.
Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto - Bleh. I gave up trying to pronounce that. I'm usually interested in Period/Samurai anime anyway, and it's been awhile since i've seen a good one. The trailer has got me hooked: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Brn_tw4dOVo
Moderate interest:
Pumpkin Scissors - I'm very wary of GONZO projects, but this one has got my interest. They're usually hit or miss with me, but I'm willing to take the gamble. I'll at least watch the first few eps.
D.Gray-man - I know next to nothing about this new series, but it's got my attention for whatever reason. The premise (new-age exorcists battling evil demons) seems abit funky, but I've heard of more far-fetched plots before. I guess I like the character designs.
Kanon - The drama/romance genre isn't really my cup of tea, and I've never seen the original Kanon either. I'll give it a shot since it's from Kyoto Animation.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - CLAMP and mecha? Umm, okay...I'll bite.
Sumomomo Momomo - Looks sorta funny, so I'll give the first couple eps a shot.
Tenpou Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi - I'll watch pretty much anything BONES has a hand in.

Taiyo no Mokushiroku - sounds good - Im a little unsure of how it will turn out but it should be something interesting to tune into

Right now I'm looking at Pumpkin Scissors, Busou Renkin, Bartender, and Yamanade, as well as potentially Death Note. However, I'm mildly pissed at how badly they messed up the designs for Yamanade - all the boys have Scarlett Johansen/Angelina Jolie/Jessica Alba lips!
Found a link from the AnimeNation news section that is pretty relevant to series starting this fall: Tenkai no Mori (http://f32.aaa.livedoor.jp/~kosugi/other/20060912.html)
The site collected 25 trailers for upcoming anime series and embed them using YouTube, which could prove useful for those wanting to check out some (but not all) of the series starting this fall. Some have better quality than others, but that is a given.
(Note to mods: If there's anything wrong with linking to trailers embed in YouTube then by all means delete this post).

I'll probably watch Happiness. Not because I think it'll be awesome, but more because one of the side characters (the purple haired trap) is highly, uh, "acclaimed" at 4chan, and I just feel like going along with the minor hype.
I'll watch Kanon (which also happens to be a harem) as well, too. The source material is written by Key, and the animation studio in charge is Kyoto Animation, which, knowing a decent fraction of their past works, should be taken as good thing, and well... it has hype.
The reason I'm following hype so much (Death Note, RM OVA) at least now, is because I'm having difficulty finding much on my own this season (actually, Bartender looks totally funky). Also, I have this strange urge to drown myself in harem and lolimoe shows right now...

I thought about watching Kanon because of all the hype but after watching the preview I am not so sure. Tomokazu Sugita is the main male seiyuu which is a plus but the character designs remind me way too much of AIR which is not a good thing.
Other series that I am now interested in are Hataraki Man and Ghost Hunt.
