Ey, evanescence has a new album comming (finally) named "the Open Door, and already the new single is playing out there, the name is "Call me when you're sober". I love this song, and i totally love Amy lee in the video, but that its just bekause im a really big fan of the band. I know a lot of people dont like this group, but i think this new album has something different that maybe everyone who likes rock, is gonna enjoy.
Anyway, if anyone has listened to this song, What do you guys think ?¿

Hmm. I enjoyed much of thier music... the first thousand times. I hope they don't play the good songs off this one to death. Still, as pop-ish as thier style is, I think the lead singer's voice is very good.

I've listened to "Call Me When You're Sober", and it was an excellent song with excellent vocals, but I have a feeling that it's going to be overplayed like "Bring Me to Life", which will make it get old VERY fast. However, I guess that means I'll just have to enjoy it in the meantime.

I love 'em.
Amy Lee has such an amazing voice, that even if her music is played to death, I can always enjoy it. I'll limit myself to not listening to their music all the time, however, so it'll never even have a chance of getting old.

I've been a fan for quite awhile and plan on purchasing The Open Door when it is released in the states (well, either me or my mom who is a fan too). "Call Me When You're Sober" has a nice rock/pop edge to it, and it is even better with Amy Lee's beautiful voice.
To tell you the truth, I rarely get tired of listening to over killed songs. I think it’s because I have each word memorized by heart and they play 24/7 in my head but then, I still don’t know why.

You, my dear, are one in a million.
If I hear that daggum "Promiscuous" or anything of either Kelly Clarkson/Mariah Carey nature,
I'll do this little number:

Meh, I liked them better when they were called Lacuna Coil...
Wait, that was just who they copied. Oops.

oh, come on, they re so not a copy of lacuna coil, neither a copy of nightwish, or anything like that. Of course that is the same genre and style but there are a lot of bands like this, and evanescence as always stand out. Mostly bekause of amy lee... Probably a lot of people are going to desagree with this, but i really dont care...
And yeah, a lot of songs that sound a lot made you want to blow your head off, but this has never happen to me with evanescence. I still have some of the old songs in my playlist and i listen to them all the time. (Imaginary is so great)

I'm not going to disagree per se, but am going to ask, what exactly is so great about Amy Lee anyway? I admit, but she has a good voice, but it's not a particularly unique voice - a bit too nasal at times. Is she hot? I guess, sort of, kind of... but looks doesn't = awesome.
Musically, they're not that amazing. Fallen was a servicable album at best, but didn't really feel much like an album to me, more like a collection of singles. It didn't really feel very cohesive.
To be honest, the only reason why Evanescence are so popular is because they were the first (and seemingly only) band of their kind to really get proper, big mainstream attention due to the whole "WOMAN FRONTS HEAVY ROCK BAND" thing. There are lots of bands like that out there with better songs if you care to look that don't get any attention at all, and I reckon Evanescence would be the same had they not been in the right place in the right time with 'Bring Me to Life' (a song I now find positively unbearable) on the Daredevil soundtrack. Again, this is why I think people dig on Amy Lee so much - because she's "unique" and "a bit different". Which she isn't really.
And yet, I DO like the new single. I can't even bring myself to hate Evanescence as a whole, even though they're absolutely nothing special and Amy Lee isn't all that great. I'll probably even listen to the album to see if it's better than Fallen. >_>

I kinda agree with Tremolo on this one. Amy Lee's voice, and perhaps her looks, are pleasing, but she's this gothic singer with an angst aura surrounding her - something I see everywhere all the time (let alone MTV). Seriously, the band were really up there only when their singles that featured in Daredevil, which were "Bring Me To Life" and "My Immortal", hit the airwaves. All the other singles in that album sounded very similar to each other. Plus, the band seems to revolve around Amy Lee only, making the other band members almost non-existent.
Somehow, from what I see, they're beginning to lose their streak (perhaps because their original guitarist left the band). I doubt they can actually re-emulate their initial success and their current album overshadowing "Fallen". "Call Me When You're Sober" is a nice song, but I'll rather only listen it when they played it on the radio station. Purchasing ther album? Nah, I'll probably give it a pass.

I, too, agree with Trem. Amy is a wonderful musician, but really, she gets far more credit than she deserves. I, on the other hand, adore her voice entirely. However, I can see that Evanescence is the type of band that people would want to define as "trendsetting" or "original", when they really aren't either of the too. There is no way in Hell I'd pass up the oppurtunity of buying this album, because I've been looking for new material from them for years. It's just that I'll analyze it as a human album, not some god-forsaken classic.

hmm. Is evanescence goth? Really? When I heard them, I would have stood them alongside Korn and Disturbed and all those one hit 'bang click bang' single producing bands that seem to be tiptoeing back asking if buttrock (Metallica/ Motley/ Quiet Roit) is still uncool. I suppose it is the singer's clothes that classify them, though the rest of the band look more rocker anyway.
Ah hell, I may have started out with a point, but it seems gone now.
Oh, her voice. At least she can sing. and she doesn't think going up and down the vocal scale formulaically halfway through every line of a song makes you a soul singer like all the other female singers right now. Unfortunately it is yet to be seen if she can do more with her voice and their music, as I admit the songs thusfar as dangerously similar to each other, which doesn't exactly leave you clamoring for more after a while.
For me, I like some of thier songs. I don't listen to them for the same reasons I do say Marillion, or Pink Floyd. But there is a difference beween art and entertainment. So maybe it's ok to chill in the shallow end of the pool andsing along for a bit.

So, im confused...
i see that we all agree that evanescence music is good ?¿ right ?¿
Anyway, i do love amy lee, and i think she`s a great singer, but nobody have never said or put any "god" qualities in her, bekause she is not anything out of the ordinary. Maybe she gets a lo more credit that what she deserves, i also agree with that, but i really dont see a major issue with this band. I like them, and i think if your gonna listen to their music its probably bekause you like them too.
So, the conclusion its : lets all enjoy their music but remembering its "Regular, not out of the ordinary" Band. Right ?¿
