Does any one besides myself enjoy 'Goldfrapp'? Their most current album "Supernature" is quite the toe-tapper... I found myself up all last night & the night before, dancing to 'Ooh La La' on repeat. XP
So, any fans? Favourite songs? I'm addicted to "Slide In" and "Fly Me Away".

Ah, Goldfrapp! Very good music. It's interesting how their music has evolved over the years though. I personally love 'Felt Mountain' because of it's sensuality - but I agree with the excellent dancingness that comes along with Supernature!

I'm sorry, but you sound about 65 years-old there. >_>
Silliness aside, I do like Goldfrapp but find it hard to actually love them. I'm not entirely sure why, but they've yet to really grab me - perhaps because I don't think they've yet done that classic album yet. Supernature is somewhat inconsistent and reuses a bit too many '70's glam rock riffs for my liking. 'Ooh La La' sounds exactly like a T-Rex song, for instance.
At the moment, I think they're more of a singles band than an album band, and I definitely enjoyed the singles off their previous album Black Cherry more. 'Train', 'Strict Machine' (a classic, I think) and 'Black Cherry' are all wonderful and better than everything off Supernature, except maybe 'Fly Me Away', which is great.
And who can forget 'Lovely Head' off their Felt Mountain album? I think EVERYONE's heard that - the yodelling especially is really something.
So yeah, Goldfrapp. Rather good, but have potential to be great. We'll just have to wait for album number four. :)

Ah, Tremolo! You impress me yet again...
I whole-heartedly agree with you. Nothing has defined truely what Goldfrapp is, qute yet. But, I'm sure we'll be seeing it sometime soon... Supernature, for the most part, is my favourite album so far. The songs like "Fly Me Away" and "Ride A White Horse" are magnificent. I must admit, it gets a little tiring and repetitive, but for me, it's the good repetitive. They do seem to be much of a "singles" band; I just find it interesting in watching what they'll do next (It's just that I never get tired of ANY glam-rock album, naturally).
And, my apologies for sounding like my grandmother... :bowing:

Maybe this is because I live in Canada, but I have found that Goldfrapp has become ever more popular because of the Supernature album due to a lot of advertisement and hype. Friends and peers of mine that now love Goldfrapp because of the newest album have yet to hear the previous ones. Do you feel that her popularity has risen gradually in the UK? I feel that in Canada (or possibly the majority of N. America) it has not risen at all, rather - her popularity has jumped pre-maturely because of songs in products (Nintendo comercials, and some diet soda commercial) and her songs being utilised in retail store environments. I love Goldfrapp either way, but I'm still interested in seeing how artists develop within the economy and how they market themselves.

Definitely. People took some notice with 'Lovely Head' being used all over the place at the time, and then their profile rose a bit more with the Black Cherry album (it was actually re-released, if I recall correctly) and then I think Supernature got to number one in the album chart's last year. They're doing the summer festival circuit this year, which always helps.
And, my apologies for sounding like my grandmother...
Heh, no problem. I'm pretty guilty of sounding like a fogey at times, too. >_>

Only Goldfrapp song I know is Train, and only because it was in the commercial for Mario vs. Donkey Kong for the GBA (sweet game incidentally). I really loved the song, and would like to hear more. What's a good starting point?

What the shit people know Goldfrapp?! That's good. More people should.
I bought Supernature last year when it came out. It's a bit more poppy than the other stuff... not as great, but still good, especially considering I hate pop. Strict Machine is still my favorite song. Can't really choose a favorite from Supernature... ;|

I very recently discovered Goldfrapp as well through the increase use of her music in advertisements. I liked "Ohh La La" so much that I got Supernature and then later listened to some of her older tracks from Black Cherry and I must say that I agree with Trem. Her music is good, but it has to be interspersed in a larger playlist for me to truly enjoy many of her tracks that don't stand out as well as say, "Ohh La La." As others mentioned, Supernature does become repetitive after a few tracks and, for me, just becomes good background music.
But I do like her enough that I'll probably get Black Cherry soon and then maybe more of her older albums. Love that voice and theatrical attire. ^.^

Here here! I fully agree.
Because of this sudden urge from "Supernature", I went back to listen to all of the old stuff; I nearly forgot how great "Lovely Head" sounded (thanks for the reminder, Trem). "Strict Machine" still has the most kick-ass video in existence. I've yet to see "Fly Me Away"... But, it looks like it'll continue the hella-cool videos.
