Nighty Nine Nights demo is out and it is sweet. Although the gameplay is plain, simple and pretty straight forward, it is just what I needed. The combos are cool and the fact that you can mix them and change the finishers only makes them more versatile.
The graphics are great and there is very little frame drop due to the massive amounts of enemies there are on the screen, just so you get an idea, I killed 3700+ enemies, no typo there, 3700+ enemies, thirty seven hundred enemies at least and if you add that to all of the enemies your troops and allies killed, then you get the idea.
I am definetly going to get this one, even if it is not on launch day, which is very probable.

I was wondering how the demo of N3 fared in comparison to the Dynasty Warriors series. I liked the concept of DW, but there were so many things wrong with the game, like clunky and stiff character models, not a wide range of attacks, crappy (and sometimes really foggy) environments that were barren and flat (as opposed to something lush and immersive like Oblivion), poorly done stories, and glitchy and sloppy gameplay. Does N3 improve on all of these things, and are there also any elements of the gameplay that really stand out that you would like to note? I know it's not the same game and is not done by the same people (DW is the only game I can think of to make comparisons with it), but if N3 can control really well, look above average, keep the glitchiness down, and have ways to make the game less repetitive and boring, then I may be sold.

Jet, N3 is superior to Dynasty Warriors.
The characters are fluid, and the animations rather good. Although you're stuck with two normal initial attacks and two special attacks, the variety of combinations will probably give you a decent amount of variety, and it seems that with every level you increase, you will gain new combos and skills (more or less like in Ninja Gaiden).
The graphics are sweet, although a couple of really obvious frame-rate issues crop up from time to time (dipping to what feels like 10-15fps from time to time), albeit for really short periods of time (I'm talking a second or two at the most).
As for the story, well, it's a demo, and you don't really have much to see. The demo's story has you separated from your second-in-command by a landslide, and you have to reunite with her, kickin' a lot of goblin posterior (I'm talking at least 2000 goblin posteriors to finish the level) like there's no tomorrow. The script could use some help, the VAs aren't perfect, and some lines come across as uselessly cheesy (l-l-laand-slide!), but overall it does seem at the very least, acceptable for an action RPG.
So yeah, I'm liking this game. I'm probably gonna get it sooner or later, unless it sucks or has split-screen co-op, in which case I think dtortot's copy will be the one I play (since I'm 100% sure he'll get it before I do...)
