That's kind of a hard comparison to make, and a hard choice to ask others to give you. It all depends on your preferences as to what games you like. If you're asking which system will be better, then:
#1 - We can't compare that, because the Wii isnt even out yet
#2 - Comparing two systems for two different target audiences is a waste of time
#3 - This will turn into an all out system war if we're to make comparisons.
So therefore, it's probably best to decide on your own after the Wii comes out. Give both systems a try, and see which one has the most games that you will like or games that you will devote most of your time to. But if you need to ask on opinions about the 360, I'm enjoying it very much. I own Project Gotham Racing 3, PDZ, Oblivion and Rockstar's Table Tennis, and I've been getting a lot of worth out of them. Of course, the big game I'm looking forward to is Halo 3 as well, so I'll know that I'll be getting a lot of use out of my system. But the Wii looks very innovative too, so it's also a good choice to make, and it's cheaper.
And I hope noone starts to bring up the "damaged run of 360s" complaint. Every system has defects. In fact, the DS Lite has also been showing defects: http://ds.ign.com/articles/721/721201p1.html (and both Microsoft and Nintendo offer repairs to both systems), so this is hardly a factor to be concerned about.
And hey, if you ever get enough cash, buy both (so start saving). Problem solved.
So, you're stuck between the 360 and WI, eh? In that case, I'd definately say to go with Wisconsin. Honestly, it may not be the most exciting state in the world, but it has its charms.
Honestly, though, all jokes about typos aside, there are way too many factors that come into play when deciding on a system, all fanboyishness aside.
One major thing to consider is games in general. Do you have a lot of Xbox/Game Cube games to play on the new system, or would you be buying all new games? As far as new games go, are there any other 360 games that interest you, or would you just be focusing on Halo? What Wii games sound interesting from what's been released?
Cost, of course, is another. A 360 ain't cheap, and while the Wii is a lot lower price wise, it's still a major cost to consider. If you have the money for a 360 now, would you be able to save enough for the Wii when that comes out so that you could own both systems? And, of course, don't forget to factor games into the price scheme, as there's not much point to spending your savings on a new system if you can't buy any of the games for it. If you don't have the money now, it may be more prudent for you to keep saving and lean more about the Wii when it comes out.
Personally, in my own battle between the two, I'm going to buy a Wii, no contest, but then again, there's really nothing about the 360 that entices me to buy it at all; same for the PS3. Then again, I'm not a really big gamer, so my opinion may not matter as much as some others :p
Im going to get the Wii and when the date for Halo 3 then i will get the 360.
I hope it will be cheaper then.

I would say that it is all a matter of the software. Which platform has produced the games you like the most? Are those games platform exclusive? Are you planning to use your console for other entertainment purposes?
The reason I bought the original Xbox is because once moded, I could play virtually anything I wanted using Xbox Media Center, which to this day is still being upgraded for the new codecs.
At this point, I'm waiting to see what the modding community will be able to do with these new systems, so it might take me a couple of YEARS before I make a decision.
As far as I'm concerned, a PC is still your best console, because if you upgrade it gradually, it never goes obsolete and your pockets do not have to hurt. Just an additional though (not trying to derail anything here...)

At the moment I wouldn't buy a console anymore, but if I had to I think I would buy the Wii because for me only the price counts and in my opinion the Wii will be cheaper than the Xbox360.

I think you are confusing the word opinion with the word fact. An opinion is something that is unproven, and you simply believe it to be true regardless of if it is or not. Meanwhile, a fact is something that is demonstratable, and as Nintendo has publically announced that the Wii well be substantially cheaper than the 360/PS2/Whatever, pricing in at around 250 I believe, this makes it a fact.
Due to this, you are no longer expressing an opinion about the potential cost, but rather stating a fact that lead you to determine your preference of the Wii.
Anyway, I like the 360 fine, mostly cause some of the new games coming out are drool worthy (Lost Planet... so sexy), but I'll be picking up a Wii first, because Wii is for Me!

You see to like Halo 2, so the 360 would be your place for online shooters. If you want innovation and creativity go for the Wii. I still say work out a plan to get all three. You''ll be mising out if you don't.

I'm definetly going with the Wii, but like other posters have mentioned, it really depends on personal preference. I'm not a graphics whore, so the difference in graphical capabilities doesn't really bother me as much. I prefer Wii's cheaper sale price, innovative control, and more appealing library of games over X360's specs and online capabilities.
I can't frickin' wait to finally play the new Zelda.

I am going to get both but if you are only getting one I would get the Wii. But I am getting the 360 for the same reason as you man. Halo 3 and gears of war.

The 360 has been hacked already, actually. It's still in its modding infancy right now - you need to dissasemble, can only flash BIOS with specific mobos, etc. Nowhere near the utility of XBMC. Yet.

Going back to the original topic. I voted 360, if only because I don't like the Wii's controller and the 360 pads didn't take much away from the X-box S-pads, but made them slightly better all the same by adding the bumpers and removing the black and white buttons. And I've played Halo 2 on my 360, it looks about the same, runs about the same. I'm just waiting for some better games to come out.

How can you know you dislike the Wiimote? <.<;; You haven't even tried it yet.

Wii. Always.
Like someone before me, who was obviously an individual of the keenest wisdom, stated: nothing about the PS3 or the 360 (save Fight Night Round 3 >_<) interests me. Besides, I'm kind of a Sony/Nintendo purist.
Keenest wisdom? I must admit that I like the sound of that....

Maybe he just doesnt like the concept of the controller, as of now. Some people just like to stick with good ol' fashioned controllers, and take less risks with new ones. Even though the Wii controller is innovative, I thought it looked pretty stupid at first, and thought people would look pretty stupid using it.

As soon as Ninja Gaiden 2 is announced for the 360 I'm there. But until then, I'm just going to buy a Wii. It's not that other 360 Games don't look cool, but Ninja Gaiden might be my favorite game of all time, so I would definitely buy the 360 just for the sequel.

I am being really tempted to by a Wii. the 360, well, most of the game I like to play (simulators, proper RTS games) don't port well to consoles, and I get my shooter fun on my PC anyways.
But I am intrigued about what Nintendo are going to do with the Wii, intrigued enough to consider buying one fo those.

Or if your me you can get all 3 ROFL, but why waste that much money. I perfer the Wii so far, I'm not really likeing the 360 for odd reasons, I haven't really seen any games worth getting except maybe Dead riseing otherwise it's just a gimik system so far IMO and I don't really care for the name either, I liked Xenon better. I like the Wii the most because, Metroid prime 3, Brawl, Twilight Princess (I'm getting both versions), downloadable gams from the past and it's hot looking and it different in many ways.

If I could afford a new game console, it be X-BOX 360! I gusee PS3 is not on here because of the reported $600 price tag.

I find it fascinating to look at the philosphies behind the game console 360 and the Wii. I remember seeing an advertisement/interview for the 360 and how it has amazing graphics, surround sound capabilities, lots of space for your music files and etc. I recently watched a Wii advertisement, and it showed different age groups and families and friends having fun together, moving around, jumping, laughing etc. Just based on the advertisements I believe you can get a feeling for what each console is focused on.
360 has introduced games with realistic graphics, and lots of power.
Wii intends to introduce game involving play and fun.
All consoles have their strengths and weaknessess, but I believe it comes down to personal preference.

Wii. Red Steel will be the Second Coming in terms of shooting games, and I know from a reliable source it's powered by candy and the laughter of japanese children.
X-Play FTW.
