Here's my music video I did for my homework at school
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/haven9270/th_3d38f045.jpg (http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e327/haven9270/?action=view¤t=3d38f045.flv)
Song is from Macross (the original and the best!!)
And yes I drew the girl (animating her eye was much fun!!)
I made it usig after effects.
Deadline for the homework is tomorrow (that's Tuesday).
Unfortunately there are a lot of animation errors - most notably the red butterflies (I don't want them to flap but they keep on doing it!!!)
Anyway, for what I've manage to create, I hope you like it^^
Can you believe it took about an hour to export this into a mov file?
GOSH
Enjoy

Hm, interesting . . .
What kind of file extension is .flv anyway?

My favorite part has to be when each butterfly comes in for a landing. It reminded me of airplanes being synchronized for landing on a shared runway. They held their flight plan until clearance was granted.
As an extra touch, it would be nice if you animated her wings in some shape or form at the very end. Just for a second or so.
Anyway, good luck with submitting your stuff for class. I hope your teacher has an affinity for an anime style.

Got an A (and that's a big A for anime!!) on it^^
I asked my teacher about the red butterflies and we found out that I "accidentally" animated em :P
Anyway I learned how to organize my layers plus she told me and another one of the students secret (and probably illegal) technique.... which will be a secret (thanks teach!!!).
Anyway, the next project (an intro for either an existing or fictitious film) is in early stages of development and I will finish it in about 2 weeks from now (it's a mid term project).
Look forward to it :)
And thanks for the comments!!

Pfft, I could draw an ugly bitch on some paper, load it with ants, and slowly zoom in on the face, all set to shitty music, and make a better video.

Perhaps, but I'm sure you'd get a zero on the assignment. He did this as a homework assignment, not as something to become the top-rated video on Youtube.
Also, as a general lesson in life: If you watch videos / see art / play games / play sports / experience anything that entails some level of skill in its enactment, keep an eye out for what you like, not what you don't like. You'll enjoy life a heck of a lot more. And it really does work for anything in life. Using a critical eye is different from using a disdainful one.
(disclaimer: I'm not saying that Ojisan doesn't enjoy life. I'm only saying that he's a giant panda that eats kittens. And babies. But only with Tabasco sauce.)

Oji-sama, that was kinda rude. I mean, at least he put in effort. And it was for hw. At least he put some heart into it. And if you want to help make it better, it's called "positive critisism".

Not half bad, I object to the song, but only because I thought it was terrible.
For your big project you should totally make up "Metal Slug: The Motion Picture", it would kick too much ass.

Love the song, tell ya the truth. The funk groove gave great inspiration back in the day.
As for the video, nice job for a homework assignment.

Note that I had no previous experience with After Effects (didn't even know it existed).
I only had 2 days worth of lessons (that's 4x2=8 hours) at the time I made the video and I thought:
"With what little I can do so far (opacity, motion path, scale, rotate)
what can I make that I would like?"
My teacher provided the butterflies - actually we were only supposed to animate butterflies.
A number of other students drew or took pictures of their own background.
And I wanna draw a girl so bad only because I wanna test out a coloring technique.
Hence the video.
I could've done a better job but I have 4 other classes that also give as much if not more homework - with 'Web Programming' being the only other class that I find as interesting as this class (Motion Graphics).
TIME CONSTRAINTS!!!! OMFG
(and I got other hobbies too)
And the music plus the art style I used is because of the fact that majority of the anime fan population (which isn't a lot) in school are the Naruto and Gundam Wing and Dragon Ball types - I don't wanna make something with those in mind.
Not to mention majority of the instructors HATE anime. And yes I think it's a case of "saw one episode of a bad anime and decided that all of anime is terrible". I gotta have a strategy and play with their heads.
So I intentionally made something even anime fans would hate me for doing:
a different perspective - not their karate and ninjas.
And Zuisho - I'd love to read your reaction on my upcoming Mid Term project.
It's 2 and a half minutes long BTW.
UPDATE
Homework # 3
Pick 2 opposite words and animate them based on their meaning.

I wanna work on my Mid Term project hence I did this quickly^^

I'd recommend changing the font of the word "FIRE." It took me a few seconds to realize that it did not say "PIRK," and I had to watch the video twice to realize it didn't say "FIRK" either.

Umm... shouldn't it be water blasting fire away?
Anyway, your videos show some bit of good manipulation with AE. To many people, this is one very complicated piece of software, so I reckon if you can begin to take these baby steps, you can end up doing better more elaborate things soon ;)

thats awsome! I really like it ....the background was a little to busy for me though...but excellent work
I have no idea how long you have been working with that software...but it took me a long time to get where you are today. Anyway Im excited to see more of your work

not to fond of the second one...it looks alittle..well not so fluid? and the movements look strange. The first one however is really nice. you have lotsa potential! keep it up. (mind you i have no idea how to use this program so i spose i shouldn't be critisising you)
