Same as the old thread. What's your favorite band/artist?
Yes, you can name multiple bands/artists.
Yes, you have to give some kind of reason for liking said band/artist.
Yes, your post(s) will be deleted if you don't give a reason.
Eminem: Flow, Writing, Rhyme
Maroon 5: Love the lead singer. Hope they branch out in their lyrics for their sophmore album.
Linkin Park: OMGWTFBBQ. Yes I like them quite a bit. Yes their lyrics could use a lot of work. I don't care.

mmk, Thursday is my favorite band (currently, has been for a while now) and I like them because of their lyrics and the ability to sound so good acoustic. Geoff has a great voice (apart from the occasional crack) and the guitars always seem powerful. Really the only songs that I DON'T like by them is "Counting 5-4-3-2-1" and "We Will Overcome" thye just kind of lack the power and ability to speak to you that Thursday usually has. They're lyrics are also very metaphoric and vivid which is apriciated because you can picture what they're talking about so well and it seems easier to apply to your life.

Mine is good old Iron Maiden.
It's pretty hard for me to say why. They were the first metal band I ever heard and I just like their melody, Dickinson's strong voice and the lyrical themes. They have an awesome live performance as well. It's amazing how fit these guys in their 50s are. Another thing is they still rock after all these years. Brave New World and Dance of Dead are some great albums and in no way inferior to the classics. I know many people will stab me for this statement but it's my opinion. I'm looking forward to the new album as well.

Probably Hot Water Music, just because I've been listening to some of their older material for such a long time and still think its good.
Radiohead is definately up there.
Interpol, just because of Turn on the Bright Lights.
Neutral Milk Hotel, just because of In the Aeroplane over the Sea.

The Chemical Brothers
I've been a fan of theirs ever since hearing "Block Rockin' Beats" for the first time way back when. Consistently pumping out good electronic music, as evidenced by their latest album, Push the Button. So many good songs off that one, to go along with all their other classic hits.
The Black Mages
Nobuo Uematsu + Hard Rockin' Remixes of Final Fantasy favorites = winz.
Matthew Good Band
Can't place a finger on why I like this Canuckian band so much. They sound just as good as any other decent alternative rock band, but there's just something about their music that elevates them above the others for me.
Bloc Party
Mmm, art rock never sounded so good. Makes for good video gaming music too.

Dragonforce: What can i say, they bring back power metal and Herman and Sam are amazing guitarist. The keyboardist is great as well. Also alot of people don't like the lead singer voice, but i love it.
Soulfly: One of the better nu metal bands out there. I like there combination of Metal and brazillian beats to their music. I like Max Cavelera's lyrics as well.
Slayer: The best thrash metal band out there imo. Every song of theirs is a story. Even if you don't like Tom Araya voice, just read the lyrics and you be amazed. Also Kerry king is god!!!! :)
Rush: Early years of prog rock. I more of a fan of there 70's stuff then there 80's stuff, but its all good. Geddy voice is unique and one of a kind. I love Neal drumming as well.

I'm sure everyone knows my eternal love for Gwen Stefani. There is just something that I totally dig about her; her look is flawless, her lyrics can be either meaningful or whimsical. Her voice is one-of-a-kind, and there's something down-to-earth about her. Not to mention her fashion sense...
Madonna is also my idol. Her individuality is timeless, and she molds herself so well, and not to fit the norm yet still rule all. While my favourite eras in her career were the Erotica (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erotica_%28album%29)-->Bedtime Stories (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedtime_Stories_%28Madonna_album%29)-->Ray of Light (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_of_Light)eras, she has always interested me in that she speaks her mind, and does it damn-well.
My third fave, in what I call is my "Musical Trinity", in Bjork. To put it simply, she is a goddess. Her voice is heaven, her look is acute yet original, her random nature intrigues me. There ain't nothing I dislike about her.
Now, for actual bands, I like the band Garbage. Shirley's persona is very strong, and is something to enjoy again and again. I'm also fond of No Doubt (naturally), Tegan & Sara (love 'em, 'specially Sara), The B-52's (best group during the 80's), Sade (soul, baby. Soul), M.I.A. (the entire grime scene is just too cool for words), and Corinne Bailey Rae (mainly for her laid-back, sweet style).
Also:
Diana Ross
Tomoko Kawase (in every form)
AI
KT Tunstall
Interpol
Black Eyed Peas
Christina Aguilera
P!nk
The Bangles
and even Paris Hilton. She can actual (almost) sing!~

Coheed and Cambria: Have you heard them? I don't think I could not like a band with a story so deep. And a comic series? F*ck yes.
The Mars Volta: Mmmm, so very different. It's got a sound that just boggles my mind.
Rush: Classic. Geddy Lee is amazingly good at making me think. Deep thoughts lead to a more productive day.
Motion City Soundtrack: Yes, I like them. Reason? I'm a fan of the upbeat emo garbage from time to time.
Vendetta Red: Sing about rape and get me in a good mood? Yes. That's what I enjoy.
The Decemberists: Because describing a house like the insides of a whale is quite interesting.
Kind of Like Spitting: I like the feel of the music. It's so.. Unique.
Boy Hits Car: Sing loud, scream penetrate! Yes, fun times.
I'm mostly a prog rock fan. <3
Malice Mizer! all the way! I LOOOVE Gackt! too bad they broke up in 2001....*sniff sniff*
SOAD- most of there songs are decent maybe a couple good ones... i enjoy them occasionally.
MSI- they have great beats
Nickelback-i like the lead singer's voice and the lyrics are decent as well.
Red Hot Chili Peppers- i grew up with their music i just love a majority of their songs, lyrics are awesome.
Godsmack- great music, thats all really.
outside of that i listen to a wide variety of music... if i like it i'll listen to it...

Nightwish:
Right now, I'm loving all but one of their songs. Opera Metal FTW!
The Pillows:
Anyone who's seen FLCL knows of their awesomeness. Some of their stuff outside FLCL is really good, too.
The Carpenters:
I'm a sucker for sappy music. So sue me.

OK.
Japanese:
Plastic Tree - There's not a single band in Japan that sound like them, and for that I'm eternally grateful. Fragile, beautiful and capable of rocking hard but also of doing wonderful, delicate slow songs, too - there aren't many bands that can do that convincingly. Their refusal to keep doing the same thing musically always keeps me on my toes and doesn't let me get complacent, because I'm nearly always surprised by what they do next.
MUCC - Dark, heavy, angsty, but never over-bearing and capable of a kind of cynical optimism if they so wish. For my money, Tatsurou has the best singing voice in all of Japan next to Hyde, and their guitar and bass work is phenomenal.
Merry - Yet more proof that Japanese music isn't just visual kei. Merry stand out from the crowd because their music is very influenced by jazz and dance, and the result is a completely unique, warm sound. Gara's vocals are always pitch-perfect for every song, and the number of brilliant tracks under their collective belt is ridiculously high indeed.
L'Arc~en~Ciel - The Japanese U2, only ten million times better than U2. For sheer hook-laden, anthemic, soaring song-writing, L'Arc are unbeatable.
BUCK-TICK: The Japanese Cure, except they've been around even longer. I may not love every single one of their songs, especially the early stuff, but their nineties work onwards is a wonderful body of work that covers every genre imaginable and contains far too many classics for words. Sakurai Atsushi is the definitive frontman.
Also, Dir en grey (the musical epitome of "intense"), THE BACK HORN (a less angsty, even more experimental MUCC) and LUNA SEA (legends, with one of the best guitarists in the world).
Non-Japanese:
Ed Harcourt - An amazing, incredible singer-songwriter. His conjuring of mood is stunning, his compositions always differ from song to song and his lyrics can range from playful to powerful.
Rufus Wainwright - Flamboyant, dramatic, exuberant, passionate, operatic... an incredible talent who I could listen to for hours.
Bright Eyes - Capable of writing songs infused with genuine raw emotion, with a voice that sounds incredibly real, like he's lived through more than people his age should.
AFI - For dark, melodramatic goth-rock-punk music, you really can't do better.
Manic Street Preachers - One of the most important bands of all-time; one that actually have something to say and don't come across as wankers. They've changed a lot over the years, but still have tons to offer.
The Cure - The best band of the 1980's, bar none. For pure, influential, legendary music that crosses through every genre, you can't get much better than The Cure.
Tori Amos - The definitive female singer-songwriter. Her flights of fancy mixed with harsh reality always makes for compelling listening, and her voice and piano-playing is beautiful.
Smashing Pumpkins - The best 90's grunge band that aren't really grunge. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness remains unmatched by most bands today.
Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis - Some of the best lyrics ever, matched by an amazing voice. No song sounds the same, yet is imbued with a kind of cinematic quality that I adore.
...and U2. The band that really got me into music and fuelled my taste of the dramatic and the anthemic. Their 90's output is my personal favourite of theirs, but for straight-forward rock music, their 80's stuff is unparalleled.
Also, Tom McRae (so beautifully dark), Muse (wonderfully overblown), Tegan and Sara (GG catchy Canadian lesbian sisters), Ash (mainly for Free All Angels, best summer album EVER), Garbage (four genius pop-rock albums), Cocteau Twins (gorgeous 80's ethereal brilliance), and Frou Frou/Imogen Heap (we need more people like her in music).

The Big Three for me:
Dir en grey. As Tremolo said, this band is just really intense. None of their songs sound alike; they continually reinvent their style and themselves. Their lyrics can be gut-wrenchingly tragic. They are all talented musicians, but I especially like the versatility of the vocalist Kyo, who can go from beautiful, soft vocals one moment to passionate screams the next, as well as every sound in between.
Kagrra,. This group is the absolute best of neo-Japanese rock bands. Their music is always gorgeous and interesting, with intricate melodies and countermelodies and harmonies all woven together. Their singer has the best falsetto you will ever hear, in my opinion.
X Japan. This is one classic rock band that lives up to the hype. Their music is outstanding, even today after countless imitations. Their vocalist Toshi had a very strong voice, and they had some of the most talented people to ever play guitar, drums, and bass. Just listen to "Silent Jealousy" and try not to be blown away by their mastery of composition and their skill at performing it. And don't even get me started on another of their masterpieces, "Art of Life."
My favorites after that, though, all blur together to become one big conglomerate mass of music.
Some bands I've been listening to a lot of lately:
Machinae Supremacy. This is one of the better metal bands I've heard in a long time, with awesome instrumentals and great talent at the strings/drums.
Sex Machineguns. Alright, already! I can't help but like them, because they are so damn good at what they do. They're an amazing speed metal/heavy metal Japanese band with hilarious lyrics and even more hilarious music videos.
.... and there's a ton more, but that's all I feel like writing up explanations for right now.

My favorite bands are generally:
OASIS: - I love bands that do it like nobody's business. They don't give a sh*t about anyone except themselves, and still be one of UK's favoirte alternative bands.
METALLICA: - Technically the first metal band I've listen to. Heard they're still together (*correct me if I'm wrong), but seriously, as a ardent fan, they should've stopped when they were still at the top. Remains an all-yime favorite.
GUNS N' ROSES - Their music is still very unique, especially Axl's voice and Slash's riffs. One of the most prominent hard rock bands of all time. Now with Velvet Revolver, Slash proves he still got it. Not as good as his previous band, but still worthwhile listening to.

I go through music phases, so this is divided into things that have stayed with me and what may be passing fancies.
All-time:
Orbital: Best group of the 90's. Period. Each album had a new sound, and each new sound was distinctly pleasant. My only regret is never seeing one of their live gigs, which were supposed to be spectacular.
The Violent Femmes: Damn quirky and unique. Alternative before alternative existed.
CCR: Impossible not to like. Rock-a-billy perfected. "Have you ever seen the rain?" just hits in a way that can't really be described.
Early Pink Floyd: the later stuff got... disjointed, but their early work remains almost perfect examples of how to do an album (not just a song). Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl sounds like a better produced album than anything until the 90's.
KMFDM: This and NIN got me into industrial music, and they're better than Trent Reznor any day of the week. Mostly because NIN went into quite a long rut.
Current Likes that will most likely graduate sometime:
Jack off Jill: Quirky girl rock that dares to be a bit playful and different. I expected something more gothic, and came away surprised by the amount of weirdness and playfulness they pack in.
Flogging Molly: They make punk interesting again!
VNV Nation: Something a bit more hollow and darker, with more techno influences than standard industrial.
Nightwish: This just makes me smile from the sheer over-the-top feel to it. Songs about LotR set to heavy metal can't help but be entertaining, moreso because the music and vocals back things up well.
Bauhaus: I can't really understand why I like this group. It's a beautiful transition from punk to darkwave, and I like seeing how things transition.
Velvet Underground: Lou Reed has a very understated voice. When everyone else was singing about peace and daisies, these guys were creating the basis for punk. Too bad they'll be remembered most for "Crimson and Clover."
Old favorites that I've grown away from, a bit:
Dave Matthews Band: The first 2.5 albums or so were gold, with a very Greatful Dead/Phish type thing going on. Unfortunately, pop and money overtook them.
Weezer: I couldn't stand the whining after a while. The Blue album still stands solid.
Tori Amos: I'll always have a soft spot for her music. The problem is that while her lyrics are great and she's damn passionate, she got rather indulgent and really hasn't done much... new. Again, her early work is simply brilliant, but her later stuff has become mired down and a bit foregettable.

As of right now.
Queen: They have one of the best singers period. There also very balanced out.
Gregory Howe: He's my favoirte guitarist right now and I like jazz.
The Beatles: Overly overrated is reason enough. Plus there my childhood
Cream: Jack bruce is one of my favorite bassist of all time plus Clapton is my hero
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Anthony always steps it up with his vocals and John has gotten a lot better with the new album and I really dont need to say anything about Flea and Chad.
Incubus: Brandon makes some of the most ridiculous lyrics
The Clash: you can't beat a title like the only band that matters
Coldplay: almost all there songs can fit inside a movie soundtrack or tv show. I kinda like that
Death Cab for Cutie: For some reason their lead singer seems so unique to me

The Black Keys
I'm trying not to sound like a melodramatic twat here, but for me The Black Keys was sort of like the soundtrack in a pretty important stage of my life. I went through high school in the mid to late 90s where the nu-metal fad was in full swing. I hated it. All that agressive bullshit my angst, hormone-charaged peers listened to, to me, just seemed pitiful. I got by going from obsessions with Tool, to Weezer, to Smashing Pumpkins, to Queen, to Nirvana, even Sigur Ros. None of them lasted too long and most of their CDs are pretty just for ornamental purposes now. I coasted through most of my teens pretty damn apathetic to the music industry and popular things in general. Then the new millennium came, I was the hell out of high school and Rock and Roll was back. All of a sudden people with my musical tastes were cool! White Stripes, Frans Ferdiand, Gomez, et. al. As it is when most people graduate, at the better end of puberty, it's momentous, sort of a coming of age, and out of all the bands that I listended to at the time, The Black Keys appealed to me the most. It just sounded like they were singing and playing from the soul without coming across as hackneyed, a sincerity that I hadn't heard in music before. It helped as well that they produced some damn-catchy music to go along. I've liked the band ever since, I haven't ever gone cold on them or gone through phases like I do with other bands and I eagarly await each new release. I'll probably like them for the rest of my life.
Now, onto a completely different note:
The Go! Team
Because The Go! Team is made of sunshine and happiness. It's like mixing kindergarten-twee with breakdance-awesomeness. When I listen to it I feel like dressing up in a bumble-bee suit, eating with my hands, then going outside to play hopscotch and dance.
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Yeah, yeah. Mainstream rock, BOOOOO! But they are bloody good musicians who can still pull out a catchy riff that distivily RHCP after so many years. Credit.
Queen
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRE you gonna take me home tonight?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH right beside that red, fire light?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRE you gonna let it all hang out,
Fat-bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go 'round!
Need I say more?
Smashing Pumpkins - The best 90's grunge band that aren't really grunge. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness remains unmatched by most bands today.
Try prog-rock ya idjit!
Weezer: I couldn't stand the whining after a while. The Blue album still stands solid.

Led Zeppelin
If you don't know my opinion on it yet, I believe Led Zeppelin encompassed the pinnacle of mankind's potential skill in musical compostion and performance, and as an added bonus, Plant's lyrics can get quite profound, which to me isn't necessary but makes it that much better. You can't beat 6 perfect albums.
Queen, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Rush
Like the aforementioned, all of these bands transcended the cultural musical influences most will never break away from and created music that was finally so in tune with the human soul and the cosmos, it's almost perfectly surreal. Each band mentioned here are of the few that played music and made at least one album, the likes of which was never heard before, will never be heard again, and has completely altered my cognitive perception of music forever.

Gruvis Malt - I found this band in the metal section but fact is, they blend jazz/hip-hop/funk/metal and sprinkles of electronica seemlessly and effortlessly.
Le Tigre - This band makes me moves me.."What's ya take on.... cassavettes.. CASSAVETTES"
Ex-Girl - A japanese punk trio of girls that I like because of a combo of why I like Gruvis Malt and Le Tigre. They're more punk/pop/electronica/opera though.
The Bad Plus, The Lounge Lizards & Soulive - Keeping Jazz alive in the new millenium.
Wu-tang - Can we call them a band? Well, they're the epitome of Hip-hop plain and simple.
The Roots - One of the few people in Hip-hop with the ability to put out somethine sample-less and make it straight up CLASSIC.
Tried to go with more recent stuff (minus the Hip-hop, but I lost my virginity to her) cause obviously cats like the Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd or the Jazz Messengers shits on all comp.

I think that for this thread I'll just quote a post I made in another forum, as it basically states my favorite artists and allows others to comment on fairly in depth ideas about them:
...Among mine are the British band Muse, the Swedish band Kent, and Icelandic Bjork. Those are artist who I consider to be sort of akin to those who make anime music, as their much of their music have the same dramatic, cinematic feel to them (at least to me anyway). I've also recently found a sort of tribal sounding Australian band, Dead Can Dance, that have really mystified me with their atypical sound. Again, very dramatic.
I also am greatly drawn in by Alternative and Folky artists like Rilo Kiley and Death Cab For Cutie, though recently the latter has become slightly annoying to me due mostly to some of the fans out there (I always hate seeing the lyrics to some of my favorite songs on some moronic "emo" teen's myspace). Though I do like Rilo Kiley's rock songs, I'm more drawn in to their folky music, and adore Jenny Lewis' recent "solo" album, "Rabbit Fur Coat".
Another is They Might Be Giants, whom I've started listening to again after a three year or so fallout, and have been reminded of that quirkiness that originally drew me into them. I have aged a fair amount in the past three years though, and find myself listening to their serious works more than some of their more ridiculous songs, which is a bit difficult. Not many TMBG songs are serious.
As that was posted in a thread about non-anime music, I'd also like to add my all time favorite artist to the list: Yuki Kajiura. I'm not sure if I can exactly describe what I like about her accurately; there's just a level of dramaticism to her music that enthralls and moves me. I've also recently realized the magnificance of other anime soundtrack composers Kenji Kawai and Hajime Mizoguchi, though I probably should have noticed the latter's greatness sooner as his song from Jin-Roh, Grace Omega, has been my all time favorite for nearly a year now.
Recently I've also discovered the neo-gothic band The Birthday Massacre to be absolutely awesome, addicting, and understatedly poignant, despite the fact that they are part of what I consider to be the one of the worst sub-genres of music, image-wise anyway (though I suppose that that shouldn't really matter as I consider the whole "indie" scene to be just as if not more pretentious). The lead singer has an amazingly soft and sugary voice that often contrasts with the dark subject matter of the songs, making for an utterly different listening experience. Another artist who I've enjoyed listening to as of late is Joanna Newsom, though not many people understand why. She's definitely an acquired taste.
I've also become obsessed with classical, baroque, and romantic music lately, though I'm not sure if I really know of specific favorite composers. I suppose that if I had to chose one it would probably be Dvorak if not just because of how mesmerizingly beautiful his the first movement of his New World Symphony is. I also love Die Moldau by Bedřich Smetana, and consider it to be one of the most personal pieces of music I've heard, as it haunted me when I was younger though I never really knew what it was called.

Hmmm?
No Doubt: It's a fairly old band but 'm in love with them. Especially Miss Gwen. Don't Speak is by far the best thing they've ever done.
Garbage: For the same reasons as No Doubt. I've always been in love with their sound and style.
Black Eyed Peas: OMG. I just got into them about 6 months ago and I haven't taken their CD out of my player since. Much love to Fergie!

Queen holds a special place in my heart. There is no other band I can put on the same listing as them. Why? The main reason is variety. From Upbeat, 40's style songs (Seaside Rendezvous) to hard rock (Another One Bites the Dust), slow ballades (Love of my life) to progressive rock (Innuendo, Bohemian Rhapsody), Faux-dandy quartets (Bring back Leroy Brown) to blues (My melancholy blues), and evne dabbling in other languages (Teo Torriate, Las Palabras de Amor), Queen always demonstrated a versatility and flexibility that is nearly unmatched in the music genre.
There were always four Queen members, and although Freddie's outlandish attitude and striking vocals always set him on the spotlight, all four of them were very accomplished musicians, were they playing instruments, singing or composing.
Unlike most bands, you can play all queen songs in a row in any order you wish (even album-by-album) without ever feeling that "I've listened to this before" sensation, and that is an amazing feat.
Adding to this, Queen survived and stayed relevant in the music world for the better part of three decades, with the breakup occurring with Freddie's tragic death to AIDS. Few bands can claim to stay in the spotlight, their creativity alive and evolving never stagnating, for such a long time.
Other bands/artist that, although not close to Queen in my book, do bear mention are:
The Beatles: Pretty much similar reasons to queen, without the three decades thing.
Elvis Presley: He's the king, and for a good reason.
Chuck Berry: Rock n' Roll owes this man so much, it's quite sad that he's not remembered as much as Elvis or other greats of rock. "You Never Can Tell" will have you groovin' like Travolta, "Johnny B. Goode" was sent by Nasa as one of the great accomplishments of mankind for a reason, and "Thirteen question method" will always help you score ;)
The Who: They always were a flexible band, and their music is, to my ear, timeless. From "Behind blue eyes" to "Pinball Wizard", "My Generation" to "Who are you", listening to the Who is always refreshing.
Louis Armstrong: Pops was not only a huge influence on Jazz (which I love), but you can pretty much compile a guide to life from his lyrics. Yes, Pops was right. I'ts a Wonderful world, thanks to people like him. "The Dummy Song", "A kiss to build a dream on", "Mack the Knife", "takes Two to Tango", and "(When we are dancin') I Get Ideas" show how jazz should be done.
The Delgados: Though not nearly as important of influential as the others, I've always liked them for when I want a different beat. Songs like "All you Need is Hate", "Child Killers", and "Woke from Dreaming get played quite a bit on my speakers.
And on the Spanish side of things:
Hombres G (The G Men): These guys have quite a repertoire of upbeat, wacky, cheesy, old-schooled, yet impressively endearing music that you can listen on and on, and will put a smile on your face. With titles such as "Marta tiene un Marcapasos" (Martha has a pacemarker), "Estoy Pintando tu Sonrisa" (I'm painting your smile),"tengo hambre" (I'm hungry) you know you're off for a ride where you'll have to drop your pretense of cool and just enjoy yourself.
Soda Stereo (Um... Soda Stereo): Cerati's band has always been a big favorite of mine. They have good brand of rock, though nothing particularly revolutionary, which is fresh and good to hear. Search for "Musica Ligera" (light music), Persiana Americana (American blinds), "Cancion animal" (animal song).
Heroes del Silencio (Heroes of Silence): Spanish Hard rock at it's best. There is little more to say, except that stuff like Opio (Opium) and En los Brazos de la Fiebre (In the arms of fever) must be heard.

AC/DC - simply the best hard rock band ever, simple songs, but done right, also I really like how they've never had to redefine themselves through the years it's been the same AC/DC since the beginning
The Cure - i can always go back to them again and again and listen to them over and over again and never get tired of their songs, also they have the best lyrcis of any group i've heard, top it off with robert smiths voice and it's an incredible combo

Same as the old thread. What's your favorite band/artist?
Yes, you can name multiple bands/artists.
Yes, you have to give some kind of reason for liking said band/artist.
Yes, your post(s) will be deleted if you don't give a reason.
Mr. Sohma, please read the rules of the thread before posting.
As for me, my current favorites are:
The Arcade Fire - I love the lead singer's voice, he sounds amazing. None of the songs sound like your average radio fare, which is especially good. I cannot wait until they put out another album. <3
The Sounds - Again, very unique sound. Lead singer's a chick with the best accent ever. Out of the two albums I have, I'd have to recommend Dying to Say This to You. Excellent, excellent album.

sohryu can you please tell me where i can read the rules?
I do believe she quoted the rules in her post. They can also be seen in the very first post of this topic.
As for general forum rules, they can be found in the FAQ section, I suggest you read it very carefully if you wish to continue posting here, as you've already broken several.
Also favorite band is, was, and will continue to be 54*40, as I've mentioned in the past. Simply put they have incredible music, great lyrics, and songs that really speak to me.

*bows down to Gwen Stefani* NOT WORTHY!!
But back on topic...I'm a huge fan of The Pillows. Ever since I heard them on the FLCL OST's, I've been hooked on their sound. Even though they make little sense half the time, it's so addictive!
Seriously people, there is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for me to walk into a thread, see more posts deleted than not deleted, and then have to delete some more. I appreciate Eri trying to bring this thread back up with some discussion in, but if it just continues along this vein, then we'll have to say bai-bai.
In any event, my favourite band of all-time (well, ex-band now, I suppose) is Jack Off Jill a rather little known band from the East Coast. While the music itself isn't as talented as some peoples, they're very innovative, and Jessicka's voice is absolutely amazing. Seriously, who can't like a woman with a cute loli voice singing about cannibalism, nazis, death, and surgery. Seriously, they're like the music form of Junko Mizuno.

I haven't posted in one of these in a long time, and my favorites are so wide I'll just do the ones I listen to most. Honestly this list could go on forever.
Machinae Supremacy - They make music with a SID chip from the C64, are easy to talk with on IRC, and are generally nice dudes. Found them on IRC a long time ago and have always been waiting for a gig to come close by. They always perform in the boonies of Sweden, and on the 19th are in Stockholm but that is still a bit too far. ;|
Ayla - The most beautiful trance you'll ever hear, but what else can be expected from DJ Tandu and DJ Taucher? It doesn't sound like electronics making music, it's something special. Not much was produced as Ayla, but what does exists is <3.
The Aquabats - Oh god, I listen to so much of them it might rot my brain. Ska kicks ass and generally is my favorite genre of music, and The Aquabats fill that need for super silly, super geeky ska music. All through high school my best friend and I would sing Pizza Day, especially on Fridays.
Since I'm running low on time I'll crunch these in, :O
Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren - While Ayla is the most beautiful trance, IMO, these three artists make the best overall. Beauty isn't everything, sometimes I want something harder, or something that makes great background music at hang outs or parties. I'm always torn between these three, I can't name one above the other for my favorite. XD

Only band that comes to mind that hasn't gotten old is
Red Hot Chili Peppers - An amazing group of musicians that's managed to stay varied and innovative for two decades now. Quite a feat. I don't think they are the best - Anthony's lyrics are overrated and speaks more gibberish than genius - but they are my personal favorite. Love Flea's bass work, John's melodic guitar work, and drummer's always been solid. Proved that they were gonna be around some time longer after Stadium Arcadium came out. I'm listening to it right now.

(This is just going to sound like senceless ramble...XD)
Japanese Bands
Plastic Tree - There's really just not a j-rock band like them. I love Ryutaro's vocals; they can be soft a lulling and sometime loud and comanding without being obnoxious. A lot of people complain that they're not the "old-Plastic Tree" and that they're not that great anymore but their latest album Chandelier prove that wrong, wrong, wrooong....
Dir en grey - Yeah...not really sure what to say about them. I remember listening to them for the first time in 2001. I was really into they're music...and I guess I still am, but I don't feel the same way as I did back then. They've just been missing that..."thing" they had if that makes any sence (I'm such a hypocrite XD. I said the exact opposite about Plastic Tree). Anyway, they're latest album Withering to Death was a complete disappointment in my eyes. As long as I own they're Gause album I will still love them though. (Speaking of Dir en grey, they're playing here in Houston right now and I could go today because I hadn't a ride. T_T)
Bump of Chicken - They don't seem really popular, and it's unfortunate (maybe the name throws some people off...?). I'm not really good at analyzing music ^^; but there's something about their sound that really makes them stand out. For some reason they remind me a lot of The Pillows whom I really like too...(I haven't been about to make any of their US shows though ;__;)
L'Arc~en~ciel - Hyde! Haha, no. That's not the only reason I like them. I think ever member of this band really exibits what it means to be a professional. They're just so good at what they do, Tetsu is especially musically talented (I love his side projects too). I was a little worried when the released their Smile album, but they've bounced back pretty well.
Glay - One of my fravorites, they're really talented, and their alive (They've had some down time for awhile and just released a CD)! I find that they have a lot of depth to their songs. When I listen to them, I feel like every been was well though out.
Judy and Mary - I know. They've disbanded, and most people only know them for the Kenshin theme song, but whenever I listen to them I wish they were still together D:. I just love Yuki's high pitched voice XD. For some reason it doesn't grate on my nerves. They were such an interesting group will a lot of silly songs (and some really nice serious ones too).
Go!Go!7188 - I think they're rather overlooked D:. And it's too bad because they're so good (but a little unactive these days...). I love their version of Pink Lady's Pepper Keibu.
Other Bands:
Lacrimosa - They're different, maybe a little strange, but that's why I like them so much. I kind of think of them as opratic-rock, if that makes any sence at all XD. Tilo and Anne's vocals meld together very well.
Korn - I never ever thought I would like this band. Surprisingly, I got into them really recently; the first song I hear of their's was Coming Undone. I got so hooked on that song and have been listening to them ever since. XD
Franz Ferdinad - Been addicted to their music ever since they started. But that's just it, it's the music I like. I don't really like Alex's vocals...or their lyrics, though Michael is a funny song.
Modest Mouse - I think they're on of those bands that you either really like or really hate XD. At first they kind of got on my nerves but eventually they grew on me. They just have such an interesting sound.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - I'm so glad they're back in action. I really loved Stadium Arcadium, expecially Dani California of course (but it's so over played these days D:). I hope they stick around for a long time.
And some other bands I like for various reasons...my hands are tired =_=:
Keane, Death Cab for Cutie, Weezer, Sugar Ray, The Rakes, The Strokes, ect...

Hmmm.... there are so many to choose from but here are my absolute favorites:
Yes: Progressive Rock at its finest. Had probably some of the most accomplished virtuosos in every instrument that you will find in any band. Could do hard rockers are ethereal ballads with the same ease. Every personnel change only reinvigorated their musical style.
Fleetwood Mac: Not only do they have one of the most distinctive vocalists of any era (Stevie Nicks), but one of the true masters of finger picking style of guitar play in Lindsay Buckingham (listen to songs like "Hold Me" and "Go your Own way" to see what I mean).
Genesis: Whether doing pop music in the late 80s and early 90s, straight rockers in the early 80s or fine prog rock in the 70s, this group was always able to keep itself current with the musical tastes of the era. Carpet Crawlers, but the old a new versions are just classics.
The Police: Great fusion of Reggae and Rock. Synchronicity is still one of the best albums in history.
Radiohead: While they have had good records, OK computer alone puts them far above the rest of the groups that emerged in the 90s (and plenty of others in different eras).
The Smiths: Smart, poignant and slightly emo songs, with crooner vocals and simple rock arrangements. What more can you ask for?
The Cure: The ever changing group... started as a punk band and emerged as one of the finest examples of pop in the 80s. Great guitar chords in this band.
The Beatles and The Beach Boys: The two most innovative bands of the 60s. Every group that came after Pet Sounds and Sgt. Pepper's LHCB were pretty much following their lead.
Roxy Music: From Glam Rock to very nice pop sensibilities, this group had range and nice vocals from Bryan Ferry. I can play the Avalon record all day long without growing sick of it.
Led Zeppelin: They just rock... HARD.
Soda Stereo: Great pop/rock hooks and sexually charged lyrics.
La Barranca: Dark and gritty... a style of rock not often found in Mexico.

Interpol - A fantastic band that never bores me no matter how many times I listen to their songs. Both of their albums are outstanding. Great vocals, great guitar, great music.

Daft Punk:
They had some shitty tracks, but they had some f**king amazing tracks as well. Digital Love, Around the World, High Life, One More Time and Harder Better Faster Stronger are THE best.
And you gotta love the fact that they're robots =D
From First to Last:
For making the only album I can think of where I don't dislike a single track on it, as well as having Emily, Populace of Two and Note to Self on the same disc.
Dropkick Murphies:
For being the first band I ever went to see, for letting me feel more than half irish and for giving me something in common with my dad.
Queen:
I haven't met a single person who didn't like Queen. Timeless songs.
Don't Stop Me Now and Bohemian Rhapsody are my favourite.
My Chemical Romance:
For making music I don't get tired of and like just as much as when I first listened to it. Here's to hoping their next album is twice as good as their first and second combined.
Drowning Lessons, Early Sunsets Over Monroeville, The Ghost of You, Hang em' High and I Never Told You What I Do For a Living are the best from these guys.
Thin Lizzi:
Cause they did alot more than just The Boys are Back in Town
Such as Cowboy Song, Southbound and Jailbreak
There are others. But I haven't listened to them in a while and don't have time to list them all. So there's the current ones.

If you enjoyed the songs on their first album then you should definitely check out their second album Antics. Judging from the quality of the songs on both albums I'd say they are most definitely "going somewhere".

hmmm right now..I'd have to say
Kat-Tun- cute and fun, they are poppy but suuuper catchy..and for a boyband..they actually write some of their own songs...
TVXQ (dong bang shin ki)- they mix tons of awsome like R&B with like ROck with pop. They are wonderful
Ao Bozu- they have that kind of airy alternative jrock/pop sound that i really like..I really dunno how to describe it...but it makes me think retro..
Ellegarden-they just rock...
W-inds-they are adorabley catchy...yeah i think thats all :)

Soda Stereo: Great pop/rock hooks and sexually charged lyrics.
Yeah, soda was a really great band, im still following gustavo cerati`s career because his songs are a lot like soda`s all songs.
Maroon 5: this is a really cool group and their songs are fun to listen.
My Chemical Romance: Because i like their style, and yeah i never get tired of their songs.
Evanescence: Most bekause of amy lee, i love her , and all the good music of this band is bekause of her voice.
there are a lot other bands i like, but i have to remember them, give me a while...

INXS - I love their jazzy swagger, and their pop sensibilities were exactly "What I Needed" growing up.
Japan - An English group who started out with a contract in the country of the same name, and created theatric music that was widely replicated throughout the 80s by many New Wave acts.
Seal - His first two albums in particular are real showstoppers, a solid voice that conveys the proper emotions going through his music.
Pet Shop Boys - Their programming was defnitely very catchy, mixed with clever lyrics that pulled a few punches, and their album titles were hilarious.
Terrance Trent D'arby - A musical mind who had big plans, some too big, but others quite original. His first three albums were great fun.
Cocteau Twins - Very dreamlike, their music is easy to get lost into, and they're great if you just want to chill out.
Those are the favorites I can list at the moment.

Goodness, I forget all these topics were re-set...Yay I get to blab again!
Blur. In a disccusion about britpop, two things tend to happen. Either people shun it, or will just rave about Oasis. Well, screw that. Blur are not only the best Britpop bands, but one of the best bands of the '90's. Or so I'm entitled to think. Top albums are Blur(1997, Modern Life is Rubbish(1993) and Parklife(1994).
Joy Division. Quite possibly the most depressing band in existance. But not a bit sappy. These guys can be called the fore-runners of "goth" but I wouldn't say that myself. They sounded way different from anyone else around their time and afterwards. Ian Curtis's haunting baritone is astounding, and the heavy bass and droning drums really stand out.
The Velvet Underground. While the flower children were still blooming, out from the dephs of New York came these guys. Armed with balck leather and songs about herorin and transvestites, all undergouround/alternative/indie rock owes these guys a big "Thank you for making my living." Not only were they important, but they were good. No. The best. For a guy who speaks softly rather than sing...Lou Reed is fantastic. I can't get Sunday Morning out of my head and it's so beautiful. Same goes for Heroin and Pale Blue Eyes.
And now for some quickies...
The Clash, the only band that matters. They could do no wrong. From straight up three chord punk to reggae/dub to, well, anything they felt like!
The Smiths. Morrissey is one hell of a lyricist, and the songs are fantastic.
The Beatles. I could type a book on the Beatles and how much I love them. Let's leave it at "They're the best, bar none."
David Bowie. Because he has changed so much and covered just about every music genre and does it better than the rest.
Blue Audio
09-18-2006, 08:18 PM
VNV Nation: Something a bit more hollow and darker, with more techno influences than standard industrial.
Great band. This Roark fellow has good taste in music.
I myself am a real hardcore fan of only one band.
Machinae Supremacy
Hubnester Inferno is the best song ever. EVER.

Avenged Sevenfold: awesome guitarists, great drumming, most lyrics are meaningful and deep. Best Song: tie between Unholy Confessions and Sidewinder.
Motion City Soundtrack: Amazingly origional sound, well-put-together, plus the singer is good looking in a weird kind of way. Best song of theirs: tie between the Future Freaks Me Out and My Favourite Accident and LG Fuad. and Modern Chemistry. Oh I could go on....
The Pillows: Fooly Cooly. Nough Said. Best Song: Bran-New Lovesong. Fo sho.

Nivana & Hole:
It's been a while since I was last listening to either of these bands, but I've been awfully grungy lately (in musical tastes, mind you :P) so, naturally I got all back into "Lithium" and "Boys on the Radio". I think Courtney has/had such a lovely voice, and thank gawd the woman is sober and working with Linda Perry. Hell yes. Magic will happen.

Lessee now...
Japanese Bands
Beat Crusaders- They may sing in english but they are from Japan. And their vocals are consistant throughout their songs. Good Songs from them are: "Hey (x2) Look (x2)" [a.k.a "Hey, Hey Look, Look" or "Kappa Mikey Theme song"], "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" the 4th Opening for Bleach, and "Hit in the USA".
Orange Range- Mainly because of "Viva Rock" the 3rd ending from Naruto. Good songs from them are: "Viva Rock", "Asterisk".
L'Arc~en~Ciel- Just cuz of "Ready Steady Go!"
Asian Kung-Fu Generation- "Rewrite" and "Haruka Kanata" are great songs. Plus they're a great J-Rock band.
Akeboshi- I just love "Wind".
V6- I just love the songs they did for InuYasha. Namely "Brand New World" and "Change the World"
Kageyama Hironobu- I love his songs for DBZ. Even though I haven't heard the whole songs from the movies, I have heard "Cha-la, Head Cha-la", and "We Gotta Power". "We Gotta Power" japanese and english.
Flow- "Go!" is one of the best song EVER!
See-Saw- I love their music for .hack//sign and "Anna ni issho datta no ni" for Gundam Seed.
And more...
English bands
Queen- One word: AWESOME!
Beach Boys- One of the best Oldies bands.
The Beatles- Like someone said "...One of the best bands of all time."
Red Hot Chili Peppers- I just love "Can't Stop". /me starts singing "Can't stop addicted to the shin dig..."
'N Sync- Yes I like 'N Sync. I also like Backstreet Boys. But a good 'N Sync song is "Bringin' Da Noise"
Backstret Boys- One of the first bands I liked. I have half of their albums, meaning I have 3. My cousin has all 6 and he's older than I am. One of the best songs by BSB is "Never Gone". I heard that that song is for Kevin's late father.
Blink 182- Their music is good. Their songs are also good. I like "First Date", "I Miss You", and "All The Small Things".
Weird Al Yankovic- I have recently come to like him and his songs. I like his parodies and also his originals. A good parody would be "Canadian Idiot" a parody of "American Idiot" by Green Day. Another one would be "White and Nerdy" a parody of "Ridin'" by Chamillionare. They are both from his latest album "Strait Outta Linwood". A good original would be "Hardware Store" from "Poodle Hat". Another good original would be "Polkamon" featured on the Pokémon 2000 soundtrack.
Green Day- One of the best punk bands ever. I really like "Holiday", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", "Wake me up When September Ends"
Good Charolette- Another one of the best punk bands. Good songs are: "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous", "The Anthem", "The Little Things", "Boys and Girls" and "I Just Wanna Live".
There are more but I just don't wanna write every one so this is all.

Continuing on from my last post...
Another one of my fave bands is Jericho Road. They're a Mormon band, and yes I am Mormon so let's not talk about Mormons in this because its about bands. The vocals are consistant through the songs. Their lyrics are very good, in my opinion. My fave song of theirs is called "Deeper Still".
And... that's about it.

Moi dix Mois - I like their style, it's really interesting with all the different elements it incorporates. Plus, it's fun to listen to their style develop from album to album. Plus they have Mana-sama AND K.
You don't need much more reason than that.
The Pillows - I just love the energy the band has. xD

Currently and in no significant order:
Dire Straits -- I like way too many of their songs; relaxing to listen to and I especially like the meaning behind some of their songs
Queen -- No explanation necessary, but Mercury's voice is amazing.
Metallica -- I actually dislike the album Kill 'Em All and their ecent exploits, but Ride the Lightning, [/i]Metallica[/i], Master of Puppets, [/i]S&M[/i], and ...And Justice for All are grand, in that order.
The Church -- I like to listen to this band when I'm riding around in the car, especially the song Metropolis.
AC/DC -- Just plain fun to listen to
The Pillows -- Probably the only j-rock band that I appreciate, they are good either way you look at them.
Genesis -- I like their prog rock sound

HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR
I got hooked on them since Ichirin no Hana and haven't been disappointed yet. A well rounded group that does vocal ballads to hard rock.
Alexisonfire
Maybe it's my influence from HAMC, but I've a thing for screamer bands with a good beat. Plus, they're Canadian.
Billy Talent
Canadians with a good beat. Good enough for me.

One of the newest artists I've discovered... Alice Smith!
Goddam! This woman is amazing! Her voice is so soulful, yet I love the fact that she mixes rock in her music. I just bought her album, and I've already found myself singing along with every word. "Woodstock", "Dream", and "New Religion" are masterpieces, and everything else is worthwhile. You guys should check into this chick immediately.

Lotsa love for Canuck bands, aye!
My favourite band is Stars--unabashed romantics and writers of galloping, sweeping, sparkling, head bop-inducing (depending on which album of theirs you're listening to) pop love songs. Torquil Campbell's an amazing lyricist; his and Amy Millan's voice meld beautifully in duet, banter and back-up. It's slightly embarassing to admit that I welled up the first time I listened to "Your Ex-Lover Is Dead", but that moment truly solidified my love for them.
Uh, I have other bands I love, namely Broken Social Scene, Metric, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine, Piano Magic, Air, Belle and Sebastian, Yo La Tengo, New Order and Zero 7, but REALLY lazy at typing out why I like them and Stars is pretty much tops my list all the time. n_n;
Oh. Oh! Stars did the most curious and enchanting cover of This Charming Man. (One of my fave songs) Y'all should check it out. X3; It's great, to dance to.
edit: Badly Drawn Boy was one person, woops. I took it out.

Lotsa love for Canuck bands, aye!
I got lotsa love for Canadian bands, too. And if you wanted to sound Canadian, it's "eh" not "aye". Anyway my fave Canadian bands are:
NOTE: I like all of these bands MAINLY because they're Canadian. For mainly all of them I will just list songs
Nickelback because I love their style. Chad Kroeger is one of the best vocals in a rock band. Great songs from Nickelback are "How you Remind Me", "Savin Me", "Photograph" and lots more.
Simple Plan songs include: "Shut Up", "Untitled" (Powerful song with a powerful vid), "Perfect", "My Christmas List" (A Christmas song that was on Unaccompanied Minors [I read that on Wikipedia]) and lots more
Hedley songs that I have heard that I like are: "On My Own", "Trip" (Opening sounds like Simple Plan's "Perfect), "3 2 1", and "Gunnin"
Sum 41 songs I like are: "Fat Lip", "In Too Deep", "What We're All About", "Still Waiting", "Pieces" and "Some Say"
Theres more Canadian Bands that I like but I don't feel like doing them all.

Until this thread, I honestly believed that no one actually liked Nickelback and the fact they kept appearing in the charts was just a big, elaborate prank by the record label.
AA can be a soul-crushing place at times. :(

And before you I wasn't aware anybody disliked Queen.
Who's the soul-crusher now? ;_;

HoOOoOkay
The Pillows: They're the first J-Rock band I really got into, and I just love their style. The FLCL soundtrack was particularly good (Ride On Shooting Star is the most awesomest song evar~ =D). They're one of the older bands that I know of (they formed in 1988 or so and released their first album in 1990) but their most recent album My Foot is still up to par with the rest of them.
Queen: Basically why anybody would like Queen, amazing vocalist, awesome music, nothing not to like.
Machinae Supremacy: Pheld told me about them after Rit told him about them and I still keep up with their songs. They're alot of fun to listen to although sometimes their vocalist grates on my nerves.
AC/DC: So much energy, so much funnnnn
Yes: What a band, I wasn't really into their kind of music until I first heard them and then I just had to look into them. Very talented musicians and good vocals.
Modest Mouse: As somebody else in the thread stated they're really a "love 'em or hate 'em" kind of band, and from what I hear they're a bunch of *******s, but their music is still pretty cool. I've loved them ever since I first heard The Moon and Antarctica.
MUCC: After reading Tremolo's praise I figured I'd look into this band, and I was not disappointed. I just love their intensity.
Other bands I like alot (lazy and don't feel like writing more explanations:
Go!Go!7188
Led Zep
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Motion City Soundtrack
Pink Floyd
The Pixies
Radiohead
Super Furry Animals
The Brilliant Green
B'z

My favorite bands are
Led Zeppelin, because they just rock. Its the kind of band that just flows and sounds as if it has no meaning but carries a deep flow of culturally influenced sounds.
The Beatles because they have songs that help me when I'm happy, sad, angry and every other kind of feeling.
AC/DC because, well because some of their songs are sexual and very catchy.
Mettalica, love them because of the dark sound of the guitars mixed with Lars Ulrich dark drum sound, and James Hetfield deep voice, ah heavenly.
Artic Monkeys, they are a catchy band, they just make you wanna do stupid things like running in front of cars and giving everybody the peace sign.

Journey-their music is so relaxing and so good.

My favorite band of all time is easily The Beatles - casual, incredibly insightful, and just bursting at the seams with creativity in its best and most eccentric form.
And I know I'm biased because two of its members are friends of mine, but there's a local band around here called The Coop that has some really, really awesome stuff. They have that same eccentric (often random, but in a good way) creativity that the Beatles had. Great musicians, wonderful lyrics, a cool blend of psychadelic rock, acoustic folk, and classical with a lot of jazz influence. Best when seen live, but they've also released a few CDs - you should give them a listen, just contact me and I'll send you some tracks :)

My top 5 bands are:
1. Tool because of their depth and originality in creating and performing their music. Their live shows amaze me everytime because it's always a new show.
2. Pink Floyd because of the diversity and creativity that goes into their albums. The Division Bell was sort of lame, but everything before that is absolutely amazing, especially the album(s) from the Syd Barrett days.
3. Massive Attack. This group is amazing. I've enjoyed their music for a while, but they recently pushed their way into my top 5 after I saw them live in October. Definately one of the (if not, the) best trip-hop groups around.
4. NaS. Not exactly a band, but he is my favorite rapper and I do enjoy all of his albums equally.
5. Led Zeppelin. No need for explanations here. The only reason they're #5 on my list is because I do not enjoy a good bit of their songs.

I have another band! Boney M I got :fish: on them with their Christmas CD The 20 Greatest Christmas Songs One of my fave songs on that CD is "Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord". For Christmas, I got The Magic of Boney M. On that CD they sing about "El Lute", "Rasputin" and "Ma Baker". I'm pretty sure most of you know about Rasputin, but the story El Lute was from Spain and the story of Ma Baker was from the US. I basically like Boney M for their music.

I don't really have any favorite bands, only tons and tons of favorite songs.
Well, there are a few bands that I like in an overall sense, but it's mostly because a lot of their songs kind of sound the same (well, maybe I'm going too far saying they sound the same, but they do all sound in a similar fashion (then again, I guess it's expected of bands to have a certain set style)).
Less Than Jake
It seems like they're never going to grow up, but it doesn't matter. Less Than Jake, with its upbeat, energetic style, has always been one of those bands whose music could get me through a bad day.
Foo Fighters
I like the Foo Fighters. There's not really much else to say.
Green Day
Even though I've liked them ever since I can't remember when, I actually prefer American Idiot to the all their previous works.... and yeah, Boulevard of Broken Dreams is still my favorite song of theirs, no matter how overplayed it was (I don't know if it still is).
Smash Mouth
I like them for the same reasons as LTJ.
Rhapsody of Fire
Their first album "Legendary Tales" sucks, but they improved dramatically every year. Their 5th album "Power of the Dragonflame" caught me.
Nightwish
Gothic rock, lyrics. But now they fired their main female vocalist, I don't care about them any more.
Therion
Used to like them. Not anymore.
See-Saw
Because Yuki Kajiura is my favourite composer.
