irc.eggheads.org
irc.introversion.net
irc2.othersideirc.net
irc.neovangelist.net
Those should all work, so give them a try. Channel to /join is #aa.

Sometimes you can get irc://irc.server.net/org/6667 to work too (java applets?), but it always helps to have a client.

java applets. If I understand it correctly, that won't fix my problem. I don't know what port might be open for connecting to an IRC server, and don't have the ability to configure them, of course. I did try JWIRC, a java applet, and it couldn't connect to the otherside server on 6667.

Well IRC ports for the most part go through 6667, or at least every one I've ever used has. Why not invest in a flash drive and load a client from there? Maybe something like X-Chat or UPP can get you in?

Using a flash drive will do nothing because Jag still won't know which ports can be used with IRC. The IRC server listening port is usually 6667 which has nothing to do with his problem.
Jag, you need to find out which ports can be used with IRC and you should be able to get back on.

If you have to look for ports, wouldn't that require configuring the router? You have to find a port out to get a port in.

I'm pretty sure that he's at a university which won't just let him configure ports at will.

you could alaways find some kind soul that would let you do remote logon (RDP, terminal, etc.) and run through that. I did that to get around restrictive firewalls when I was in Japan.

Yeah, E, I emailed LB about that.
Roark, I'd tap off you, but 1 bit per year of bandwidth isn't enough for two.

Yeah, LB should be able to hook you up. You'll have to deal with IRSSI, prolly, but that's not overly terrible.
