Like the "where do you get your anime from" thread in the general anime section..I want to get an idea of the best place to buy manga from..
So far..i've mostly bought manga from rightstuf.com but they're rather far from me (iowa to nyc) which makes for long shipping times. they also have a bad habit of listing things in stock when they aren't.
if you could also rate specific attributes such as inventory, prices, shipping and customer service
thanks in advance

The only place I've bought Manga from is Chapters and Indigo book stores. They have a pretty good selection, but Manga doesnt come that cheap in Canada. I think around $14.99 or $19.99 per volume.
Generally, I like flipping through a manga before I buy it, so if buying new, I'll stick to a place like Barnes and Noble. I get I get my mum's 10% discount.
Most of my manga that I've bought lately, however, comes from a used bookstore called Frugal Muse. There isn't too much new stuff that interests me, so I've been picking up old volumes of Sailor Moon and Silent Mobius.

I just go to Waldenbooks or Suncoast. Since it is a 6-7 hour walk from my place, I'll just get some off either ebay or amazon.
Usually from Amazon since you can buy them in pretty good condition as cheap as 2 dlls, specially manga that arent really well know even among manga fans. But i never miss a chance to actually go to the book store and see if something catches my interest.

That's good to know. Whenever I get paid, I'll try amazon. for my manga needs.

Ara ra,
Depends where I am, really. There's about 3-4 different Barnes & Nobles and Borders' around my immediate area. I tend to go to Borders more though. I keep getting 20-30% off coupons in my e-mail.
Other place I go is in Manhattan. There are a group of stores--only 3, so I'm not gonna call it a chain--called Midtown Comics. Typically, they have what I want. Also, they have this swanky membership thing where they keep track of how much you spend, and if you spend $100--doesn't matter if it takes years or months--you get $20 off your next purchase.
Of course, if I can't find the manga I'm looking for anywhere, I'll go on either Amazon or Half.com and order it.
Now the manga that's still only available in Japan...well, that's where Kinokuniya and Book-Off come in. ^_^

Kinokuniya rocks! Most of my fairly sizeable Japanese manga came from them. Ah those were the days! To be single and have a lot of spending money! ;)

I usually get my manga from Brave New Worlds (comic shop near my house) or the local Barnes And Noble; I do my best to support the local business because they kick ass.

They've got a nice selection, but they shrinkwrap all of their mangas. At least they do in the one by me... It's hard to know whether or not you'll like a manga if you can't even look at it first.

I kind of hate to admit it, but I'll sometimes buy my manga from Borders. I try to stick with some tried and true online dealers because they do offer a discount, but then there's the added cost of shipping so unless I'm buying enough to balance that out, I usually stick with Borders- and feel bad after buying it because I'm basically paying more in the end lol

An anime store called Anime Xtreme in the chinese district of toronto.
And right now I'm going nuts because they're having this sale where all manga is selling for american cover price.... $10 per manga in canadian. holy.
I got mine from a book store called Best Eastern. They supply me with their mangas. But I mostly bought my shonen-ai manga from a shop call UNION in Miri. XD They got the best there.
