Hmmm, only three bands worth seeing in my opinion (Gym Class Heros, Anti-Flag, Against Me). But that's out of a long list of sucky, boring, emo and/or nobody bands.
I use to look forward to Warped Tour almost every year back in the day when Dropkick Murphies, AFI, and all those major acts use to play the stages. Now, it just seems like they're picking up any new trick and handing them a microphone. Plus, last year, if you tried to dance, skank, whatever, you couldn't 'cause there was too many emo kids crowding together not moving. And let me tell you, when you wanna dance/skank to music but you can't cause some emo kid is being emo, it makes you so flusterd you wanna punch a baby. Yeah, it's that annoying.
I'm paying 50$ to see two bands in two days, Dropkick Murphies and Streetlight Manifesto, then about 25$ to waste a day of my life.

Man, warp tour is now truly beyond help. The last good warp tour I went to was 2002, and even then I said it was loosing sight when the emo scene began creeping in. :\
NOFX, Anti-Flag, and Bouncing Souls are the only ones worth mentioning on that list. The rest I either don't know, or don't care about.

I thought AFI and Boysetsfire were playing.
Well, no reason to go now. Okay, saves me money.

most of the hardcore bands are good(Throwdown,The Bled,Everytime I Die,Eighteen Visions, thriller) yea the hardcore scene is where its at and we never had problem dancing or anything because of emo kids last year. of course the emo kids didnt like getting throw down either.

Hardcore? Those are metal/metalcore and I have no idea why they are at Warped Tour.
Warped Tour is a ska and punk show. I miss my local bands that played at it too--where is my Authority Zero, dammit. Phoenix Warp Tour (http://www.warpedtour.com/event/browse/28) still only has 3 worthy bands. Same ones I listed before.
Like I said before: It has totally lost sight.

Pshh. Warped Tour is far from hardcore. Buy an Ozzfest ticket if you want that sh*t. Warped Tour was the base for rising ska and punk bands. If you were in the tour bill, you got a huge boost in the industry. It still works the same way only now it's a lot of emo bands that all sound the same.
Besides, my local stop is in Fitchburg which I assume puts it at the Fitchburg Airport and that place, my friends, is a shitty venue. All I have to say is you better hope it doesn't rain that day or there'll be alot of shoes missing in the ground.
Punk and ska may be dead, but your next. -_^

A wise man once said,
"Punk's not dead it just deserves to die before it becomes another stale cartoon." (Jello Biafra, Dead Kennedys lead singer)
Too bad no one listened.
Anyways, I know that AFI and BSF will be in Ohio but not MI, so, I'm off to Ohio coming August.

The tour started as a punk and ska tour, but has branched out to include rock, heavy metal, and hip hop.

That's because times have changed and emo is now the new metal for Warped Tour.
And just for kicks, what is your definition of "hardcore", Fox, since we can't this thing straight with our lack of research?

Yep, pretty much. I remember back in high school a lot of people liked "hardcore _______" because it was "edgy." That quickly changed afterwards... >_>.

its a break off of punk. bands were getting tired of playing the same types of songs and started playing harder and faster music that they could come up with differnt beats and a differnt style. you guys think to general we are talking about a scene here not a dictionary.

Break offs? Haha that's a funny perception of hardcore. Considering hardcore anything has been around since whenever a genre is born.
All it is, is harder _____, where ______ is a genre. Harder emo, harder punk, harder dance... whatever. In this case, hardcore punk is just faster and heavier than regular punk. Think of bands like Black Flag or the Dead Kennedy's.
Fun-fact: Back in the 80's, hardcore punk originally "branched" because it was sick of the stylization (as in fashion) punk had (thank you sex pistols), not because of the music. Nowadays, however, it's all a style. Probably heavier than regular punk. Oh the irony.

yes you can break hardcore down into many differnt types but they are all hardcore. a branch of the punk scene. plus its not hardcore _____ its ____core, metalcore grindcore etc
Ritalin

No, now you're just getting ridiculous with labeling genres and categorizing everything. Maybe my age is beginning to show (which is scary considering I'm not old... >_<) but we never, ever, called music genres blahcore. It was just "hardcore punk" or "hardcore metal." If it was a mix, it was noted as such...
What I do know though, thanks to some cousins in high school who are all caught up in this categorizing fad of sorts, is you ONLY do ____core when it is in someway related to hardcore punk. Metalcore, for example, is metal/hardcore punk.

You don't know what words mean, do you?
-core doesn't mean "some kinda music genre." It means "I'm a pretentious prick and want you to know it."

Lol you should realy know, that topics like this will ALWAYS create a genre despute about these bands. None of these people are really wrong, especially about the metal part, alot of these bands incorporate metal components into there style. You're just nitpicking when you're telling these people they're completely wrong. Besides, a lot of these genres were just made up by a lot of elitist sceners.
It's an identity crisis with a lot of these bands. So many of these new bands incorporate characterisitics from a lot of basic genres ranging from punk, metal, rock, emo, hardcore, jazz, and electronica. It's really hard to say what specific GENRE they are. So much that a lot of bands hate classifying even themselves.
As for warped tour, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It's really just moving along with the evolution of what was born out of punk. These new pseudo-genre bands are just awesome and creating new sounds like no other. To pidgeon them hole them all into emo is just plain ignorant, especially if you haven't even listened to them. Like I mentioned above, a lot these bands are incorporating lots of different sounds into there playing style. And sound changes. A lot of the scenes are moving in a completely different direction, and the type of music is a lot different than it was 3 or 4 years ago. No, warped tour is not being taken over by the emo scene, in fact that's a rather small part of the warped tour. There's a lot more to it than that. This isn't just bubble-gum emo, or straight out hardcore bands now. Nor is it just punk. There's a lot more than that. Things have changed, and progressed, as they naturally would.
Give it a chance, and stop stereotyping.

:Adopts quiksi1v3r as his freshman:
Oh, I agree that nothing is wrong with Warped Tour. It's a perfect good tour that in many cases shoots up the carrers of many talented bands (and some not so talented). Selling millions of tickets and booking more venues each passing year also proves that it's not a dying breed like Lollapalooza. However, in my eyes, the last two years of the tour have been lacking that luster that make it so great in its beginning years. The first year I went I could walk to a different stage and enjoy a completly different sound. It was incredible. Then last year, I could walk to any stage and almost swear I just walked in a circle back to the same stage 'cause the band sounded the same.
I will be going though 'cause I promised some of my new college buddies we'd meet up there. I said we should have gone to Kenny Chesney, but Anti-Flag is just as good. X3

I’m sick of the elitist attitudes I keep coming across when it comes to music. Everyone thinks their music is so much better and they know so much more about it than anyone else. If you don’t agree with them you’re “stupid”. Lighten up. I listen to everything. I go to Warped Tour every year and this year I’m going to Ozzfest. I may not like the entire lineup, but I’m still going to enjoy myself. Music is suppose to be fun. If you’re going to crucify people for not being “hxc” at least back up your arguments with solid facts like AqueousMessage mentioned. Educate people instead of putting them down.

I'm generalizing but sadly this mostly holds true:
In highschool it's all a pissing contest and I've seen this exact same attitude Xfox has hundreds of times in the "hardcore" or "punk" scene. Almost everyone eventually grows out of it.
Although, I don't agree with the going anyway thing. I can't enjoy myself when most of the bands playing are crap, and only a few I really enjoy. I just go see them on their own instead now. It's hard to convince someone to stand in 115F with no clouds for the day to see a couple bands really worth seeing. Oh dear, the last Warp Tour I went to (2002), my best friend passed out from the heat. She's also from Michigan and wasn't used to it though.

nice grading job if i wanted to be graded i would be in school at the moment. i dont think i know more of music history then you or any others i just know more of the hardcore scene history. for your hXc people are better attuide bs i could care less what scene your from but if your going to tell me my scene doesnt belong because its a punk/ska tour i am going to shut you down. hXc is harder faster punk. if it wasnt for punk hXc wouldnt be around punks made the scene. the hXc kids made the emo scene. when emo came about it wasnt what it is today. the front man for minor treat started the emo scene as a fast pass smooth type of music that told of his feelings.

Well, I just got back from the Fitchburg Airport. All I can say is that I offically got raped by the sun. It was 105 degrees in the open, 100 in the shade (which was lil' to none), and a 118 degree heat index. I literally spent $28 on water and Gatorade just in the grounds. My friends and I downed a 24 pack of water before the show and thank the Lord for that! The way they scuduled the bands was horrible, too. They had some good bands in the begining and all the headliners at night at the same time on different stages. There was a five hour gap between bands I wanted to see and that I could not fathom without any shade.
I've never had the weather send me home from anything I paid for. T_T
