View Full Version : New Signature... who will be the first to use it :O!
I've gotten tired of editting the same old text into people's sigs when their signature image is too large. So, I made something to do the job for me >>;
What do you guys think?

EDIT: 6th version now up and running. And it's final, damnit.

omg, brilliant!
The only thing I can see being an issue is that it's so cute, some people may just want to keep it forever. XD

Very very clever and a cute way of spreading the message across and have their own sig in a way so can't complain there.. I might even want to snatch it personally as a regular sig, but ...... I do not like Azumanga Daioh, but please don't cry Chiyo-chan ; ;
I've never actually seen AzuDai, but Chiyo is still the image of cuteness, so it fits.
I don't mind if anyone actually wants to use it as a sig, since it gets a message across, or if other mods want to use it to edit large signatures (which is why I didn't put my name on it).

I would change the lettering, the 100 kb part is hard to read.

<3. The "kb" is a bit hard to read, as SC mentioned. I love the sig other than that minor nitpick, though. The stock image you used is perfect.
And go see Azumanga Daioh. Now.
Even 500 x 200 seems pretty huge to me, but that's another issue.

I agree sigs to big is a problem that needs fixing. btw i really like the sig.

Changed the 'kb' part to arial, a bit better now?
500x200 seems a bit big to me too, which is why I personally almost never make signatures that big. It's hard to make a limit that everyone agrees to.
As for big sigs being a problem, it's all in the hands of the users. It's not our fault that people join who don't read the FAQ, and that's why mods have powers to edit things like signatures.

omg, brilliant!
What he said.
I gotta stop looking at that sig. Every time I see it, my eyes get stuck on it and I start to cry. She's just... so sad!!!
Only one issue, though... Sometimes people are pretty dense. If they're not told explicitly, "Your sig is too big. Please change it," they might not realize that you're actually asking them something. I'm definitely dense enough to do that; I'd probably wonder what happened to my sig, and assume that there's a feature in the forum that switches people's sigs up once in a while. Or, I'd assume that the forum is broken.
Ideally, the rule would be stated explicitely in the sig, but it wouldn't fit the theme in an image such as this. Just an extra sentence somewhere saying something like, "You just made Chiyo-Chan cry. Please fix your sig," would probably do the trick.

Mana:
It would look better if the change the lettering of all the small print, not just the kb part.

The print really isn't that small o_O; Maybe your eyes are just getting as old as you are >>;
I'll play around with it, though. Probably should explicitely state the rule, too. Thanks for the heads up.
What do people think of this now?

Wow, that does the trick. I think I may take Niner's idea now and "keep it forever."
Thanks for the hard work. :)

The original was perfect. Now the font is ugly and makes everything cluttered and too messy. It's chaotic.
Keep the same fonts as before, only add in a small font (perhaps a pixel font at the bottom because they are easy to read and are small) the rules for reading FAQs, etc.

And I'm spent ._.;
In all honesty, I thought the text looked best at first >>; Glad to hear I'm not crazy, and the text is actually readable, though I did make it a bit bigger in this last one.

Great, now I'm going to feel wicked guilty everytime I put an oversized image in my signature by accident. Keep the way it is. It's perfect.

It did look best at first. In fact, art-wise, it was perfect. I was just making sure that its function is achieved, in addition to just its artistic value. An item that looks great, but doesn't meet its design goals, is considered to be without actual use.
There's that engineer in me speaking again. He's not supposed to wander into the Art Class... Remind me to shoot him later.

I liked it at first, too. XD I guess it was the font.
Looks like Chiyo-chan gets her round of upholding justice. <3

Question: does it really need the "For more info, check out the FAQ!" and "Correct your signature."? The original really was perfect; looking at it again, the font size seems fine. Try doing "KB" instead of "kb". I'm guessing the uppercase version will be easy to read.

Oooh, how about this? Basic info on the sig, but when they click on it, it directs them to the specific part of the FAQ that they need to read. Good idea, no? >.>;

Seeing soh's sig I was reminded what about text linesin sigs? They are supposed to be a maximum of 6, normal sized text lines.

Yeah, soh's is actually too large. It takes up a good portion of my screenspace...
6 lines including spaces, normal sized font, was what we agreed upon awhile back. Bad soh!
Yeah, I can get rid of the FAQ and correction stuff. I'll look at the KB as opposed to kb, but with the script font, it may not work. The link t o the FAQ is a good idea too, I just wish it were a bit updated. All that will be done later, though.

so, thats a great signature, and it really do its work, but who is gonna use it ?¿ is there is gonna be a special group of people , like the cops of the prevention for big sigs ?¿ or maybe is gonna be all over the walls of the academy?¿, oh , maybe in hats, and t-shirts...

It can be used by anyone who wants to use it, but the only use I have in mind with it is putting it in other people's signatures when their current signature image is too large. No hats and t-shirts, sadly, as Osaka is a trademarked character.
@Raven: Well, sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news, but this sig isn't going in my sig :p I'll be makign another signature soon, but until then, you'll have to put up with the kitty woman.
Aaaand....: http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e118/LadyKirie/sigtoobig9.jpg
I like the concept of putting the sig there, if you have the time you can make No Hi I'm New, No Spam, flame control, double poster, check search button, ect.....
