Well not completely, you can only get to Battle Rank 6 in the free version. But I still find the game to be very fun even stuck at this level.

And no, this is not an MMORPG. Unlike an MMORPG, this game isn't boring or purely level-based. In fact your ability to kill enemeies is based mostly off of your own skill, not your rank. If you like FPS games, and the idea of fighting 400+ person battles across bizarre alien landscapes sounds entertaining to you, than look no further than Planetside.

Does this mean the demo has a limited amount of days?

No the free trial lasts until March 24, 2007. But if you switch from a free account, to a paid account, you will then receive 30 Days of subscription.

I know I asked this, but if I were to try out the trial I need to know if the patches for Planetside were successfully installed. Don't want no laggy crashin game on me. Othewise it'd be like gettin a piece of crap software for free.

:( This game freakin' sucked. Nobody was online. I mean, I just walked into some enemy base, sat there for 20 minutes, captured it and walked out. And there was lots of awful boring walking and driving.

planetside is fun for like...i dunno... a week or two, when there's people on anyway. Me and some of the AA peeps played beta and some retail back in the day. I'll never forget when erigion got our plane stuck in a damn tree, and van had to tell him how to back it out.


edit: the concept is great, but the execution pretty much blows. Maybe someday we'll see a properly done version of this gametype.

I played planetside for a little bit a couple of years ago and yeah it was fun but it lagged SOOOOOoooOOoooo freaking bad... I was getting like 20 FPS or less in big battle areas... Then they released a patch and suddenly I was getting 5 FPS in ANY battle area and so I cancelled my subscription... man I was pissed...

funny thing was the patch was supposed to help those technical issues and it made the game unplayable...

but yeah... I can imagine what the community is like now... Hell I started playing right after they merged the servers and they still really didnt have enough players... nowadays it must be so vacant... like hotspots with only 20 or so people there :p


It was fun playing a stealth character and stabbing dudes in the back tho...
