After a one year away from otakon i will be making my return again. Hopefully i will get some of the guys from my college to come along with me. Oh and I hope AA does another panel like in 04, because that proved to be very fun.

You're lucky, there's only one hotel left to be booked for the time of the convention, and it's 20 minutes away from the actual center.

It's becoming more of a possibilty for myself to go, however, I got my work schedule back and I'm working over the time of Otakon for 2 out of the 3 days, but I'll probably call off one day. So my plan is to drive down to Otakon and plan to attend 2 out of the 3 days, and hopefully book that last hotel.

If I go to Otakon, anyone's able to meet me there...if any one is interested to meet me at all that is.

I am still not sure what I am doing but if anyone is interested I have a quad at the Radisson. I booked a large room because originally I thought my friend and her two sisters were coming but that didn't work out. When I tried to get a smaller room for less money I found that the Quad I already had was actually cheaper.

If I do go I wouldn't mind sharing the hotel room. It's about $169 a night for the room. I think to be on the safe side I would rather share the room with another girl but I can be flexible. Since it is a quad I can open it up to 3 people (the more people the cheaper obviously). It's also in walking distance to the convention center.

Also if I don't end up going at all I can give up the hotel room to someone here but I'll make another post about that.

Of course, the only folks this means anything to probably already know all that. I checked the fares for Amtrak and Greyhound.
Amtrak: $42 including a stop at Philadelphia.
Greyhound:$122 non-stop.
So, I'm going for Amtrak and hopefully I can find the convention hall.

Tidbit: If anyone is comin from Glen Burnie since Baltimore hotels might dry up at sometime, take Cromwell Station. Theres a shopping center with a Giant G supermarket with a Blockbuster right across the street from the station. It might be a ways walk, but believe me it's shorter than you think.

I'm not longer looking forward to the actual con itself. I'd have much rather gone to Comic-Con. Comic-Con would have been so much more fun! And they have anime/manga sections and all. Instead, I'm stuck at a specialty con. -_-

After this 1000+ dollars is blown on Otakon, you can trust I won't be seen around any out-of-state (or in-state for that matter) anime/manger cons EVER AGAIN.

Well I admit the guest list is not what I would expect from a convention as big as Otakon but at least the musical guests are better than last year (I am excited about seeing Nana Kitade if I can get tickets). But other than that I don't think you will know what to expect until you get there. Even if the events don't sound that exciting at the moment he might still have a great time. If the money is already spent than make the best of it.

It's called "waiting in a longass line for forever." MUCC isn't a huge band among anime fans anyway, so there's a good chance a lot of the attendees won't be planning to go to the concert.

Back. Very tired from ~4 hours of sleep each night, but thankfully we only live an hour away. Had a great time with Alex, Mugs, Eek, Roark, Mana, Niner, Tyrdium, LadySage, Le Bread, Mira and Dirty Harry.

Anyway, the con itself was fun, and hanging out with AA people was great. The driving sucked, though. We had horrible luck.

Bread's luck was far worse than ours, though. At least my car didn't completely fall apart. We're still wondering who the hell he pissed off or what the hell he did in his past life to merit such a series of absolutely shitty circumstances. :x

The con was totally excellent, all things considered. Most of the panels I attended were great and really interesting (go go 4chan panel :D), there were nutty cosplayers aplenty (lots of KH and FF7), the dealer's room was a total money sink (but worth it!) and of course, the best part of it all was meeting up with all the wonderful people from AA and AS. <3 Kain, Alex, Mana, Roark, Mira, LS, Bread, Tyr, Eek, Mugs and DH.

Here's to looking forward to next year!

Rar, Otakon was lovely. Baltimore is a total hole (nice aquarium though), but I had a wonderful time with Kain, Eek, Mugs, Mana, Roark, Niner, Tyrdium, Dirty Harry, Alex, and, of course, Le Bread.

I don't doubt it. Honestly, Otakon's content has been lacking as of late (especially industry panels and guests), so I can see easily how someone used to AX with its corporate backing would prefer it over Otakon.

Really, though, the only reason I go now is to meet up with people and hang out. The actual convention itself means far less to me now than it used to. It's nice having an anime-oriented venue as the backdrop, don't get me wrong.

All things considered, I had a wonderful time, and welcome the idea of attending Otakon again in '07. But I'm afraid that August 6th marked the last big day out for my poor car. We shared an unforgettable quarter of a year together before it gave up the ghost, and when it comes time to part ways, I'll clear my head of everything but fond memories. Shouldn't be too hard to do that, if it hadn't have broken down when it did, I'd have never realized my childhood dream of getting to sit in a firetruck!

Kudos to all the folks I met for making the trip a happy one even in spite of setbacks. And a very special thanks to Niner (who came to my rescue after the stroke of midnight, and has the patience of Buddha), Tyr (he was there!), DH and his awesome mom, and of course, the lovely LS for putting up with me and my troubles all the while without anything more than a few well deserved jokes at my expense.
