I just have a few comments about the GITS:SAC review. I recently watched the series, and I agree that there is a poor dosage of character development, but the series has some really good literary allusions. After watching the series, I read The Catcher in the Rye again, and hunted down J.D Salingers short story collective "Nine Stories". It has both "The Laughing Man" and "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" in the collection. I feel that although the character development was unflattering, the plot and imaginative use of what the future would be like with cybertronics and medical related issues was quite intriguing. Anyways, not bashing the review at all - just adding on, err just my two cents :).

You know...I usually feel that the academy's reviews are right on target. However, After reading Sparrow's comments, it forced me to go back; watch some of GITS:SAC and compare my thoughts with the review. I have to agree with sparrow. The character development is thrown around uncerimoniously <---ok we can take that at face value and move on. On the other hand the plot is fairly creative, something different. I would have to agree it was a series that drew me in, due to the issues it delved into. anyway, just throwing my support behind sparrow....

(btw sparrow your the first fellow canadian I have me on here !! =) !!!JOIN MY GROUP: CANADIAN DO WATCH ANIME!!!!! )

The support is greatly appreciated! :) To all - if you are at the library or enjoy purchasing used books, please get yourself a copy of "Nine Stories" by J.D. Salinger. It has nine short stories in the book (hence the title) and you must read The Laughing Man to get an excellent grasp of who the Laughing Man truly is.

I am The Laughing Man.
No I am The Laughing Man.

Any other Canadians who may live in Toronto?!?!?! we should band together and watch anime!!! Or just not - and say we did....
