View Full Version : Signature of the Week #25: Submissions
Good morning Artists ^o^ Let's get some creativity out, shall we?
This weeks theme is: My second favourite...
Since "favourite" is too common, let's see everyone make a signature for their second favourite anime or manga.
NOTE: "Second favourite" is not to be necesarily taken literally. If you have a list of anime/manga you like from 1st to whateverst, then go ahead and use your exact 2nd, but for those of us who don't, just use one that you like, but it isn't at the top of their list.
I realise I could have been more creative (I actually had an amusing idea, but then I realized there are a fair amount of minors who participate), but hopefully this we'll get more entries this time around.
RULES:
1 - The name of the anime/manga doesn't have to be dislayed in the sig, but post it in the thread.
2 - If your second favourite happens to be a hentai, that's fine, and you can make a signature from it, as long as you keep the NO PORN rule. Let's keep our hentai sigs PG-13, ok?
3 - Since I mentioned it above, NO PORN.
4 - The sig limit is 500 pixels by 200 pixels. If you go above that limit, I will personally edit your post and insert, instead, a signature of my choosing. (No, the signature I put in your post cannot be entered in the contest -_-')
5 - You need to make it yourself. No stealing signatures from another forum and passing them off as your own.
6 - If you really want a 3rd party helping you, that's fine, as long as the 3rd party has never stepped within 10 feet of the contest. And if they do step close to the contest, and want to join themselves, you need to make a new one without their help this time.
7 - You can use a sig you've made in the past, as long as that signature has never before been entered in a Sig of the Week contest.
8 - Winner chooses next week's theme, unless they disappear for 7 months.
The submission period will end on June 7th, noon CST. So, be sure to get your entries in before then.
Now, let's get to some sig making, shall we? ^.^

Hmm... yeah, a simple category seems to attract more entries than a more creative category because it involves effort, and let's face it... for no more than 2 weeks worth of bragging rights, most people are just too lazy to join a more challenging category.

Even though I make crap-ass sigs w/ the help of trusty Paint, I shall enter.

This is very true, yet makes Mana very sad ;_; She's had several good ideas for contests, but they would be too weird/complicated for more than 3 or so people to want to enter. She wishes people would be willing to put a bit more effort into the contest so that she could make a contest like that without fear, but, alas.
Mana also tends to talk in third person while sad.
Also, I made another addition to the rules; much thanks to Rove for pointing it out for me <3

Now, trying to think of my second/not #1 favorite anything is borderline impossible for me, so I decided to shorten the posibilities with "favorite anime currently airing in Japan". I'm loving Ergo Proxy's atmosphere and excessive confusion so far, but my favorite series of the season is Ouran hands down; so I guess the sig is not far off from this week's theme. BTW, I made this sig last week and my collaboration to the rules was asking Mana if I could use it, just in case someone was wondering. The sig stock image is from Ergo Proxy, and the line "The world unwinds inside of me" is from the lyrics of the OP "Kiri" by Monoral.

On the 'challeging themes' subject, I have the impression that last weeks contests didn't have as many members participating not because they thought the theme was too complicated but probably because they were busy with other things. Now that the summer (winter in other places, too) holidays for high school and college students is starting, members will have more time to participate, so perhaps putting into practice those more challenging themes could have better results.

Okay, my entry is in:

First off, this is from the anime Gunslinger Girl, one that I am fond of as of late. I actually think I did a semi-good job on this one; it's not as crappy as it could've been, I guess... Still, with limited access to advanced picture-making programs, I will commend my own efforts.

I guess I will submit something this time. Not what I would consider my best work, but meh.

Well, we'll see. I do have some challenging themes in the back of my mind, so if I get lucky and win again, I can use one for next time. There bessa be entries for it, though.

Heh... remember my anime cross-over theme? Had endless possibilities with image manipulation... very interested if we can see a resurrection of the number of entries on this one.

I'll join. Missed the deadline on the WP contest and am pissed.
EDIT:
I'm with you Beth. Let's make this a creative competition for a change. Here's my work for starters.

Simple is best, right? I know, not much, but don't haze me too much because this took me for fricken ever on MS Paint. I figure since I was making a sig (no pun intended) anyway and it just happened to be of my second favorite anime why not?
Oh, for those of you who don't know the image is in reference to FLCL.

What the heck. I'm going to enter too. Just give me until the very last second before the deadline, because I'm doing it all in MS Paint.... and it's slow going, to say the least.

Alright! Finally. Here's my meager contribution. Forgive the lack of special effects, etc. This was all done in MS Paint because, like Pachinko, I've got no better program to do sigs with. And I really, really hate that program now.

The image is from Alichino, a decent manga that happens to have gorgeous art. The storyline doesn't grab me enough to make it my favorite, but I absolutely love the artwork.

Yes! MS Painters of the world unite!
Darn right! We should get extra points just for slaving away with such an uninspiring art program!
... Too bad this contest isn't run on a point system... :P
Alright, Submission period has ended. Let's bring this to the tasty semi-finals.
