My sister told me they were making a manga of the movie the Labyrinth...

She said it was like a sequel, Toby's the main character(so she says)...

But i'm not exactly sure...

Here's what she showed me (toby's the one wearing a crown): http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j97/eccatan/Master_SiteComics297725.jpg

I wonder who'd be drawing it? That makes or breaks a manga for me; More often than not, I could care less about the plot, as long as I have pretty pictures to stare at, and good jokes to laugh at.

And there's one other stipluation before I read Labyrinth as a manga. If they even consider putting David Bowie in there in any way, shape, or form, I'm boycotting Tokyopop outside their corporate building thing forever (or until I get hungry, or somebody tells me to go home... whichever happens first). He exists in that movie solely to terrorize the kids watching it. When my sister was little (and I was just a baby), my sister would get nightmares that David Bowie would come and kidnap me in my sleep. I'll never forgive him for that. =)

But wait a second.

Wasn't David Bowie's portrayal of the Goblin King the sole reason that movie was created, anyway? I hardly think a sequel of any kind is going to leave him out.

You guys better start making your signs right now.

Sign done.

It was my first foray into the world of non-MS-Paint image editing. I used GIMP and finished off the text in MS Paint. Ironically enough; I took so long figuring out the program that I could have finished it an hour ago in MS Paint.

Now I just gotta find someone who wants to link to the sign for me (I'm nine posts away from being able to post it myself). Anyone who does can join the protest for free.

I won't protest, since I'm prostesting protesting, but I'd be happy to link something for you.... if I knew what to link.

I feel so used. But at least it's +1 for me. :D

I shouldn't even be linking this, because Bowie is awesome. Buuuuut, since I am a good friend: Silly sign thing. (http://core.binghamton.edu/~lordyoda/images/noie_to_bowie.jpg)

Thank you for the offer. And thanks, Niner, for posting it.

It's funny that you mention protesting protesting... Three and a half years ago, a few of my friends got pissed off that it was so cold so late in the season. They held an anti-winter protest on April 1st. A few other friends proceeded to organize a counter-protest, with signs like "Winter killed my squirrel!" and a picture of a snowman with a red cross-bar through it. They got into the local paper and stuff. The funniest part is that on that day, it snowed.

How random.. a picture of The Thin White Duke with a baby growing out of his chin.

On a related note, for me at least, it was the music which really made labyrinth, and I don't see how a drawn medium can capture that style.

"...You remind me of the babe
What babe?
The babe with the power..."

Ah, the memories...

He's supposed to be eating the baby. If Bowie had babies growing out of his chin, he wouldn't have to steal them.

It was also Henson's style. His work is great with the camera. Move him to manga, and, well... it's anyone's guess...

It's kinda like the same thing with musicians. For example, Elton John is great with concerts and CDs. But move him to recording background music for video games and, well, that's just not his expertise.

Okay, that was a horrible example. But I think you get my drift.

Im not sure... I think a drawn manga would be a good medium for this story..I think it would work...sure the soundtrack wouldnt be there..but who knows Music isnt everything...always remeber you loose something and gain something when you transfer between to artistic mediums
