Something I would buy, no doubt.

Yeah you have really good style and it stays consistent in all your artwork. Very nice work there Aqueous.

"And as people praise and say they want to buy his works, AM's ego inflates."

Thank you both for the lovely comments. Just hearing that makes taking the class worth all the while. I'd like to hear someone talk about how I can further items I need to improve, but for now I'll settle for a swollen ego.

Since you can't take anymore pats in the back, hopefully you won't mind me commenting on a few things about your artwork.

On "Christianity According to my Imagination":

All of them seem to be a less serious take on Christianity, while making a pun out of certain Christian attitudes. 'Surreal' seems to convey the Christian dicotomy of good and evil, in a cartoonish drawing and coloring style. 'This is not LAX' is probably my favorite of that section because it looks like a drawn shot taken during a concert, and the angel dude made me laugh out loud in the middle of work the first time I saw it. 'Rory' didn't say anything to me really, though I assume you're pointing out the recently growing subculture inside the Christian community: Punks that listen to both The Clash and accepted Christian punkish bands. 'Bible and a Barcode' seemed to me like you're showing how Christiany and economics are not as divided as religion makes it seem, with the Bible sales (and other Christian-related articles) and all. However, this last painting didn't seem to have as much effort as the other three. Though I think this is a case of 'message over technique', the whole painting seems like it was done in 15 minutes or so.

On "Breath":

If I'm not mistaken, this section is about the 'breath of life', how far off am I? The first one, 'One of Hearts' tackles the breath of love, someone sighing for love or because they are in love. The second one, 'RockCurve' seems like the 'breath of simplicity' (and perhaps the obligatory realistic artwork in most Art classes? ;)). I could really picture that corner/curve in almost every block, so if you wanted it to look really realistic, I think it worked. 'Lil' Red Riding Hood' is my least favorite of the 'Breath' subgroup. It doesn't really try to convey anything, does it? It also doesn't work much as an anime-influenced artwork, the profiles for the grandmother and Red Riding Hood are too flat as well. 'Pirates!~' again doesn't seem to have a greater meaning than a couple of pirates staring at the sea, and unless you were unconciously relating it to the freedom speech from Pirates of the Caribbean I can't really relate to it. 'Ben' is one of my two favorites, the minute I saw it I couldn't stop thinking 'What is that guy looking at?' so it did cause a reaction in me, curiosity!

Last but not least, 'Mother/Child' is probably my favorite out of all the drawings and paintings from your first post. Probably because I was expecting a completely different thing due to the painting's name, and yet, when I saw I thought to myself, 'It makes perfect sense'. From the colors to the technique, all enhanced the maternal feeling of the picture, it just 'clicked' right.

Apologies if I seem a little too harsh on a few of them but I was trying to evaluate them not for their artistic technique but from the 'how much did they affect me' point of view, so there are some of them where I couldn't relate to as a whole.

Wow. I wasn't expecting such a response in the art thread. XD No, I don't mind if you throw your two cents in. Hell, if I didn't want you to, I wouldn't have made the thread.

Response:

Basically being a christian since day one, it was easy picking a topic that I could easily find subject matter to base works on. I'm not a very strict christian, mind you. I have my personal oppositions to some of "God's Laws" and if he doesn't like it, then I'll talk to him about it when I go upstairs. You hit "Surreal" pretty much on the head so there's not much I can add to it without rabbling. "This is not LAX" is based of a Boston based ska band called Big D and the Kid's Table (http://www.bigdandthekidstable.com). This and another concert will always be in my mind as one of my favorite moments in my life. Both are long stories that don't need to be said at this time but I couldn't pass a chance to draw the memory. "Rory" is based of my friend Rory (non-christian) who's hair I adore so much. Right now, it's lime green, seven spike hawk in the middle, mini-blacklight purple spike on the left, and mini red and blonde fan hawks on the right. But, again, you hit the message on the head. The lack-of-effort "Bible and a Barcode" shows that we all have a price even when it comes to religion. People buy things like T-shirts and crosses for their houses to show off that they are christian when just being one is showing off enough for God. I'm not condemning the purchase of the bible, but rather the people who carry one to show off their christian "outer shell". I know, it's crappy. I made in 10mins, not 15. I was missing one assignment for a term so I made up this one a jiffy. X3

As for "Breath", all I can do is laugh at myself. It's "breadth (http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/sub_studioart.html?studioart)", meaning a group of works that show off your quality you put in work. Most people taking this test don't really focus on this part as they should. Most put old works they did in past classes, which I did. I applaud your analysis on my error and I give my apologies for making you over think them. "Mother and Child" is my favorite of the bunch as well. It may have been a short, sweet, lil' piece, it has such a strong image behind it.

Harshness is needed sometimes in this world (as well as this forum) to better man as a whole. You have my many thanks!~

I like the drawings on your Breadth side rather then those on your Concentration side. I mean, your works are very colorful and exuberant but there not great drawings, just great color. Such as in Bible and a Barcode, the bible is wider at the top then it is on the bottom, not by alot but it's still there. Your good, but I think you still have some work to do before you cross that preverbial line from talent into more professional work.
