I LOVE this game. I got it today and have just had a blast playing it . The only thing that really bummed me out was that alot of the mini games are recycled from smb 64 ds.

I am playing it. It is very good, but all it really does is remind me that Super Mario World really is a masterpiece.

How is that a bad thing? If playing LoZ:TP reminds you of how good Lttp and Oot were thats a good thing :) .And speaking of SMW im kinda glad yoshi aint here , but I wish we had our leaf or feather power up.

Well, it just makes me miss certain abilities that you had in the past games (like Yoshi and the ability to kick shells upwards). It's not a bad thing, but I think I had my standards a little too high for the game. By all means it is great, but it still isn't the new SMW that I thought it would be.

Actually Sonic we agree , I enjoyed this game , but it isnt SMW .Thats Nintendos problems nowadays isnt it? Those of us old enough to remember it compare it to the classics and those too young dismiss it as a thing of the past.While it took me awhile to not being to kick upwards yoshi is getting another yoshi island so I wouldent say you will miss him for long.

I suppose, but I miss my blue flying yoshi. Anyway, I am a little happier now that I know how to play as Luigi in single player (hold L + R when selecting a file).

Would there be any real difference between Mario and Luigi? I mean, I've never seen them with any real distinguishing powers.

They had distinguishing powers in Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario 64 DS. In New Super Mario Bros., there is no difference between them, but I simply prefer to play as Luigi whenever possible.

Yeah , while my favorite character is Bowser , when I was young I refused to play mario and only played luigi lol. Fun times fun times.
yeah I new about the luigi thing sonic , now its time to go back and get the coins and worlds I missed
Edit- I know its not the hammer bros suit , but the blue shell costume is fun to use , they wont attack you when you inside and you can bounce off the walls :)

Actually, it exceeded my expectations.
But I digress, New Super Mario Bros. is worth having for your first DS game. It is the best traditional platformer out for the system, but there are better games overall.

I know I'm bumping up an old thread, but I finally got around to buying this game a few days ago, and it's amazing! It feels like a throwback to the original Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World all at the same time. I like how the graphical engine isnt just cosmetic, but practical, as the environment can stretch and fall apart, which makes things a bit challenging. Still, there were a few things I was dissapointed with. For one, it felt too easy, and for another thing, it's so cheap when you have a fireflower on a boss fight. If you just start throwing them like crazy, the boss (especially Baby Bowser) will be defeated in seconds. Otherwise, it's still a very fun game, and I reccomend it to anyone looking for a DS classic that will stand the test of time.
I've been playing through it, and it's a lot of fun. My biggest complaint is the lack of saving on a portable system, since I hate doing the close the screen thing >>;
