okay So far out of the 6-ish ace combat games i have only played AC4:shattered Skies, AC5:unsung war, and AC0: the belkan war. This series is, of course, an airplane fighting game. Even though it isn't "realistic" it is still friggin sweet.
AC4: I loved this game, it had a very good story compared to the other air plane games i have played, the controls were simple and all that, but the storyline rocked. Not only that, but as you played through a mission, the radio chatter would set the mood very nicely.
The story was narrated from the perspective of a child who was experiencing the war onlooking the player's enemies.
Best of all, as you continued to play, you would become more noticed and famed. Eventualy enemy radio chatter would be filled with chaos when they saw your plane flying through the skies with it's emblem.
And of course the stonehenge super weapon is my favorite superwepon
AC5: I didn't like this one quite as much. It takes place in the past from AC4, bu no were neer the contenent were AC4 was in. AC5 had it's appeal with wingmates who were usefull. But they stole would steal the player's glory <_< . Not only that, but the story was kinda corney... especialy one of the wingmates (the peace preaching female one... she was hot at least). The super wepon wasn't that cool either, it was mostly annoying -_- .
The story was unfolded through a reporter who was there with your squad and he would chat with them in the in bettween mission movie. I didn't like this form of story, I wasn't able to see my enemies point of view.
AC0: The story line takes place in the same area that AC5 was in, but AC0 leads up to AC5. The makers finally whent back to the good parts of AC4. even though you have a wing mate, he doesn' steal your glory, but he doesn't vanish from being there. I loved the way that the story was told most of all. It is about a journalist who is burying into the past trying to find more about the "demon lord" which is the player. Through his search he chats with people who were there, allies and enemies. This really was a good method to telling the story.
And the super weapon was pretty cool as well.
AC0 also gets the prize for having the best and hardest final boss out of these three ace combats.
The music was great as well, probably one of the best parts! and the radio chatter was just as good as it has always been.
One interesting addition was that some missions gave you three options for one mission: anti-ground, anti-ground/air, and anti-air. And you can avoid those pesky escort missions
The rival fighters are also changeable based on weither or not your ace style is mercinary, soldier, or knight. The ace style reflects how you go about accomplishing the mission.
AC0: the belkan war did not make me feel like i was doing the "right" thing, which... was a strange feeling.
out of these three ace combats i would say that:
1st: Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War
2nd: Ace Combat 4: shattered skies
3rd: Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War
all three of these, all keep the similar plane disigns as well. Making replays a must so you can go through again with your ancey plane, or a replay so you can buy that best plane.
So because I need to give you guys a reason to reply:
If you have played any Ace Combat game, what is your opinion on it/them?
